Avoid the D-Fuse seatpost.

Avoid the D-Fuse seatpost at all costs: Giant won't help you if you have bought a used bicycle with this slipping seat issue:

If you buy a used car, you'd expect that the manufacturer / company dealership would be able to help you fix an issue should it arrise. However Giant will leave you out in the cold as the warranty is only for first owners and not transferable with the frame.

I bought a lovely second hand great condition roadbike and chose the reputable brand Giant thinking this was a good choice, it however came with a D-fuse triangular seatpost which is irregular in shape to the frame.

This seat has started to slip down when I am riding, I am 80kg and tighted the clamp to giant recommendations 6nm. Because of the D-Fuse unusual design; it can only be fixed and looked at by Giant. I have tried replacing all parts on my own, but no solution. My local Giant approved bike shop believe it is the frame at fault and with the frame being in warranty period, Giant should be able to help.

However they haven't helped and say it is because I bought it used. They haven't even offered me any repair options for the bike without the warranty!

In short. If the seatpost was a normal shape, I wouldn't have this problem. It's such a simple but poor design flaw that I would recommend others to avoid.

I won't be buying a Giant again, I'm sad that I that thought they were good quality and feel I have wasted money.

I'll update the review if Giant helps me find a solution which is on-going.

Giant store Radlett

Giant store, Radlett. Very friendly helpful people. Asked for an empty box to transport my bike. "Pop down and we will sort you one out" Withing 30 mins they had given me a good box. This is the local bike store I shall use. Asked cyclesuk Watford the same question and basically told they would rather throw away than give to a customer. Bad customer service.

Great bike, great service.

I recently treated myself to a new mountain bike as my old one was now literally in bits in the shed.
I (well my son tbh who knows bikes (esp mtb's) inside out!) did a lot of homework before making the purchase and plumped for the Giant Fathom 2. There was another bike vying for my attention in Halfords, but the less said about that company the better! Lol
Upon walking into the Giant store said bike had been reduced by £200 (bonus!) and after some 'sweet' talking I managed to get a cracking deal on a new set of pedals!
Without any sales pressure whatsoever both Phil (the manager) and latterly James (bike technician / sales) were really great in explaining the bike to my son and I prior to the sale and have been there since to tweak the gears. I will be returning in about another 10 weeks for the bikes proper post ride service.
My son and I went down to High Lodge, Thetford at the wkend and I was able to give my new mtb a good ride. I'm really impressed with the Fathom 2; it rides incredibly well (great geometry) with seamless gear changes and the forks are superb!
I have no hesitation in recommending Giant, Hall Rd, Norwich and of course Giant bikes, that at the end of the day offer a heck of a lot of bike for the money!

your safety is not even worth 10 minutes of their time

terrible, won’t even assure the correct assembly and function of their bicycles.

i bought a brand new giant bike for £2200 from an officially licensed giant reseller, which arrived with incorrectly indexed gears, that were jamming while i was riding. i contacted giant (the manufacturer) to ask if they would index the gears correctly at one of their official giant stores, as it was not assembled correctly. I was bandied about for 2 weeks contacting customer support, where i had to call them back repeatedly as they told me they would get in contact with me and didn’t. The official giant store nearby quoted me a £20 cost to index the gears, which i didn’t feel it was right to pay as the bike was less than a week old! after 2 weeks of faff and excuses, i was denied by giant stating “that labour isn’t covered by the warranty” on a week old bicycle! in one of their stores! giant expect me to pay for a factory assembly problem with my brand new £2200 bike!
i asked to speak to a manager and was declined, so i asked to be called back and was given a date i would receive a call back by, which shock horror, came and went, without them contacting me.

the indexing of the gears is a safety issue! when they jammed i almost fell off, and it is a 10 minute job to fix! the “labour cost” that giant couldn’t even stretch to cover, is 10 minutes of one of their own employees time (who are already being paid). so assuming a very generous 12£ per hour, it’s £2! at one of their OWN stores!

giant are happy for me to spend thousands to buy one of their bikes.
but won’t put in PENNIES worth of effort to fix a factory safety issue from one of their brand new 2022 bicycles.

and when i asked to have my concerns heard about this and to file a complaint, they didn’t contact me when they said they would.

in contrast, i had an issue with my brompton, took it to the local store unannounced, someone there had a quick check on the spot, tuned the brake pads and didn’t care that i didn’t have an appointment, and didn’t charge me.
furthermore i spoke to a gent in a Decathlon store (a budget brand!) in another town (as i just happened to be there) and after hearing the story he went through the functioning of the derailleurs, explained to me how to adjust the gears (something basic and free Giant didn’t even offer), and he offered to fix it for me free of charge because quote “it’s such a quick and easy job”! (which obviously i couldn’t take as it was in a different town).

my bikes were stolen and after months of dealing with insurance, i finally got my new Giant bicycle and my first ever carbon bike, and this has totally and utterly killed any and all excitement. i can’t afford to spend money on the service right now so it’s sat in the living room, unridden, for an assembly issue, something that isn’t my fault, because Giant refuse to stand by the quality of their products, and expect to profit off of me, to charge me to fix a safety issue with my brand new bicycle, when it would take literal minutes for them to fix. they wasted WAY more energy passing the buck and messing me around, not respecting my time or energy, than it would have taken to fix the thing!

utterly shocking
i prefer to do business with companies that respect their customer’s time and spend, and who stand by the quality of their products.

i will never purchase another Giant product for the rest of my life.

Giant Bikes. What a complete Joke

Diabolical company. We bought 5 Ease E bikes from Giant back in 2018 for use at work. The Syncdrive motor in the front wheel of one of them has stopped working. We have been told that the parts have all been discontinued so the bike cannot be repaired. So when it happens to the other bikes they will also be scrap. I will not be spending £10,000 with them again they are a complete Joke.

It's all downhill at the Camden shop

My partner and I bought our bikes from the Camden branch and have had repairs done many times by friendly, helpful staff. ALL THAT CHANGED TODAY. First, an appointment was needed and this was never the case before. Secondly, she only wanted the brakes fixed but was sent an email with a list of jobs amounting to over £300. When questioning their response she was told 'It's like an MOT'. Obviously, it is not. MOTs are a legal requirement for cars. It looked like the approach of a conman builder fleecing an old person. Terrible change in what was once a good shop

I am positively endorsing Phil, Alex, Reece, James

I am positively endorsing Phil , James , Alex & Reece who all in their inimitable little ways contributed to my taking receivership of a free ( well I have to pay for it) hub body for my back wheel As apparently the aforementioned part was non - engaging ?? So after making several panicky calls to the GIANT Bristol store all answered by the assorted gentlemen listed above. They managed to find the replacement part listed 152C-ACCKIT-902. No mean feat , I can attest. They then managed to get the part couriered to Manchester within 24 hours and now my bike is born again free to roam , the hills and gulleys hereabouts in Manchester. Bravo chaps. THOSE GUYS GO ..... ABOVE AND BEYOND

Bought a giant Liv E+1 October last…

Bought a giant Liv E+1 October last year. Had to send it back as the power kept going off. The shop I bought it from couldn't find the fault so sent it back to giant. They replaced something in case it was that but couldn't find the fault. Got the bike back but same fault again. Power kept going off. Not good when you are up the Cairngorms on your own. Bike was sent back again to giant but no report as to what they did. Tried it out in my street all felt fine. Drives for an hour and a half back to the Cairngorms and not on it 5 minutes and power goes off again. Sent it back for a refund. Sent an email to giant asking about the bike at one point, didn't even get a reply. Very disappointed.

Giant St Pauls London

This store joins the others were there is complaints about very, very poor aftersales. Shortly after I purchased my bike online and received it I emailed them about some issues I had, I received no reply and had to call to get an answer. Again I have emailed about a recent issue I have and it is 3 weeks now and I still have no response. Tried to call and got an automated message but no-one is answering calls. I also emailed head office Giant USA and had no reply so globally they may not be the best company for help. If you want to be sure of good aftersales dont buy online (especially from St Pauls) and maybe use a face to face store.

Cambridge, Hills Road Store. Magnificent Customer Service

My daughter wheeled her sad and broken bike to the Giant store in Cambridge on Hills Road. She works at Addenbrookes NHS Hospital and relies on the bike to get there and back every day.

Simon took one look at the bike, smiled, and fixed the broken gears/chain in 5 minutes flat. One of the tyres was low, so he pumped that up too, and adjusted the mudguard. He explained what needed fixing, simply and without condescension.

Superb customer service from a kind, caring and professional man. It is a rare delight in a time and place where lacklustre, half-hearted service dominate. I recommend the store unreservedly.

It is on Hills Road (underneath Belvedere just over the railway bridge, opposite the Leisure Centre).

£1000 Shower

My Giant Twist Electric bike got caught out in a shower, which killed the LED ride controller.
Tried to buy a replacement, to be told by Giant Customer Service that it was an old bike, (almost 10 years), so I shouldn’t really be surprised that no such thing existed.
How’s that for eco-friendly sustainability.

I have two bikes purchased from Bradley Stoke and always had my services done by them regularly. I appreciate that there has been a pandemic but trying to book a service is impossible. All I get from the workshop is ‘sorry mate not taking on any new serving’ I was going to get a new bike but will find somewhere I can get it serviced.

Giant store southampton

This review is for giant store southampton, thornhill park road.
This store discriminates against people with medical issues. I was thrown out of store and made to wait outside like a second rate citizen all because I wasn't wearing a mask which I'm exempt from. They asked me to prove my exemption. In other words disclose my medical history in a store to a stranger with customers around!! I found this absolutely disgusting. When making a complaint I was spoken over and called a foul name before phone was hung up. Discrimination of any kind is against the law. These companies can't make up thier own laws which go against goverment advice and need to held account

Giant Bradley Stoke Bristol

I have an aluminium Giant TCR Aero road bike frame that is nearly 25 years old. My front derailleur gear hangar fractured and I was worried about being able to replace it. I emailed Giant tech support, Giant Swansea and Giant Bristol with details of the issue. I received one personal reply from Giant Bristol telling me they could help and asking for further information. Having then spoken to them they had exactly what I needed and what I didn't expect was to receive it the following day. I know they are particularly busy at this time so for me their service deserves 5 stars.

Has to be the worst company I ever know. I went in to buy my bike on the 13th Feb as they PROMISED me it will arrive in 3 weeks time, it came mid March I got no phone call so I called up asking about it, they were saying it’s another 3 weeks wait so I waited another 3 weeks no phone call, I had to make a phone call been pushed back another 2 weeks this was occurring every month, wasted my time and money. This is in York!

Don’t buy a bike with the conduct hydraulic system. Mine has failed three times. Local giant shop has had it since aug 2020. Took ages to sources a new head unit and now waiting for a frame change on warranty. Really bad customer service, seems like I’ve done all the chasing.

Giant Store Bristol

This is a review of the Giant Bike Shop in Bradley Stoke, Bristol. I contacted them because I was having problems with the headset on my Giant bike, assuming it had worn out and I needed a new one. The guys in the workshop told me to take it in, worked their magic and fixed my bike without replacing the headset all for the very reasonable price of £17.99. Very happy that I can ride my bike again without a horribel grinding noise when I turn the handlebars. Thanks chaps!
