Bad items

So I ordered some pasta supreme, it was not in the same container, in fact, the container wasn't sealed at all. The fruit was old and it wasn't sweet. The fruit cups and mayonnaise packets were expired!

Mayfield Heights Giant Eagle - Unprofessional and rude service

Visited Mayfield Heights Giant Eagle (6259 Mayfield Road, Mayfield Heights, OH 44124) to pick up a prescription for my mom and do some shopping. At self-checkout, I needed help with an item that had no barcode and had to press the assistance button multiple times.
When a manager finally came, he was rude, condescending, and unhelpful. I then asked to speak with the store manager, but no one ever came despite waiting.
There is no way I will shop here again — even if I need to, I would rather go somewhere else.

This is why I don't go to Giant Eagle anymore

Well first of all I'm sick and tired of going to the Boardman location and every time I buy produce that says it will expire in 5 to 7 days I put it in my fridge and the next day it's rotten I would not feed it to my pigs If I Had a Farm and how about the fact that they keep putting seated grapes in seedless grape areas and you can't see the print on the seated grape containers very well it's real tiny and when you see seedless grapes well that's what they must be and I'm also tired of their prices where they charge three times the amount of any other store and then they want to cry and say they're giving you free gas well if they're charging three times the amount of money for food they're obviously not giving away free gas other stores have the same program their prices are half the money and they're giving away free gas as well which are miles away from the store that you go to a Giant Eagle in Boardman Ohio and the reason I gave it a one-star is because you can't give it a no star so the lowest you can give it is a one star. I'm also tired of when I do have to call the customer service department I'm calling another country probably the Philippines I am sick and tired of jobs not staying in America and then the stores at Giant Eagle oh we're never going to go ahead and replace people with automated systems bull crap every time I go in there they have more automated checkouts than people change it or I'm never coming back ever and nor will my entire family

Spoiled food

Over the past couple of months, I’ve repeatedly purchased spoiled food from this Giant Eagle. Some of the items had expiration dates as far out as November 2025, but they smelled bad and were covered in mold. I had no problem returning them, but it seems like the store has become very negligent with proper storage temperatures and dryness requirements.

The fruit and vegetable sections always require careful inspection before buying—there are often rotten tangerines, oranges, and tomatoes. In the cafeteria section, I would strongly advise against purchasing boxes with yellow "Extra Savings" stickers, and even items marked as "Fresh" may already be spoiled.

This store has become worse than Walmart in terms of food quality. It seems like they no longer care about the condition of the products they sell.

Horrible

Wait times to pick up are ridiculous & then you just have to hope that even though you requested for a prescription to be refilled twenty four hours prior, it's probably not completed or if so, only half of it is completed.

Okay Dokay…

Over all the stores clean and well stocked he had the front of the store when you first come in with the Gatorade that's a little confusing with the buy three get three it doesn't save by three bottles I was thinking by three eight packs and get three free but that's no biggie. I did however get some pork chops and I don't know what part of little piggy that you got to sausage but it wasn't no boring pork chop I'll try to leave a picture..

The prices are pretty high and the staff are not that great. I've had bad experiences with meat in particular. Leathery beef, roasted chicken in a leaking container, roasted chicken still pink where the drumstick touches the body. Definitely watch out for the expiration date as they are not always on top of removing items that are expired. My biggest complaint is the checkout, it just takes way too long, my record must be close to 20 minutes wait time in the checkout line.

Giant Eagle/PNC Bank/PNC Financial Services Illegally Fished My Personal Information, Stored It, and Sold It

Giant Eagle, Inc. is an American grocery store owned and/or operated by PNC Bank/PNC Financial Services. They have stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, and Maryland.

I recently contacted Giant Eagle via the chat function on their webpage regarding a product I purchased that I afterward realised was already past the expiration date. The woman said she was in their executive offices. I do not know if this was true or not, but she asked for my name, address, email address, phone number, and other information including the UPC code from the packaging.

Like any unsuspecting innocent would do, I gave her every bit of information she requested. I believed she was going to send me a voucher or some coupons to make up for the expired product. This is what many companies do as a gesture of goodwill in cases such as this. I was wrong, and it turned out to have been a very bad mistake to have given her all of my private, personal information.

After I provided all of the information, she advised me that I do not have a rewards account with them. I told her I know this. All she had to do was ask me if I had a rewards account, and I would have told her no, I do not. I did not need to provide all this private information to her just so she could inform me that I did not have a rewards account with them. Why ask me for all this information? In turned out they were fishing for private information to store and exploit.

She then told me that since I do not have a rewards account with them, there was nothing she could do to help me and to take the product back to a store. I told her I am old enough and experienced enough to know I can return an item to a store, but I am no longer NEAR a store, which is why I contacted them via chat. The upshot was she was not going to do anything about it.

I then asked her at least 4-5 times in plain English if they were they going to store my personal information, and what were they going to do with it. She kept answering with non-answers, telling me things I did not ask. This was a very, very bad sign. Finally, I told her if she did not answer my question, I would file a BBB complaint against them. This time she responded that she did not know what they were going to do with my information. At this point I filed a BBB complaint to get answers.

I was promptly contacted via email by one Scott Unrue in their Executive Client Relations Office. (I did not add my phone number to the BBB complaint.) He apologised for the aggravation and offered to send me a gift card. I replied that would be nice and thanked him. I said I still needed my questions answered. He asked me to phone him. I told him there was absolutely NOTHING more I could tell him, so there was no need to phone him. I wrote everything in the BBB complaint and again in the email to him. I said I still did not have any answers to my questions and demanded answers.

There was no reply from Mr. Unrue. The BBB contacted me back to ask if my problem had been resolved. I told them no, it had not been. I told them my questions were STILL unanswered. Mr. Unrue then replied to my response and said he had emailed me and tried to phone me. I responded that I received a total of two emails from him, but neither one of them answered my questions, and that since I had not supplied my phone number on the BBB complaint form, it logically followed that they were indeed storing my information including my phone number. By the way, I did not receive a voice mail from Mr. Unrue.

Once again, I requested on the BBB site that Giant Eagle/PNC Bank/PNC Financial Services advise me if they were storing my information and what they were going to do with it as well as how long they would keep it. I am NOT one of their "clients," and I do not want my information stored, sold, or used for any purpose. I did NOT agree they could do this. There still has been no reply. My information was illegally fished, stored, analysed, and sold.

There was ZERO reason for the agent to ask my name, address, phone number, and email address. All she had to do was ask if I had a rewards account with them. I would have said no, and she would have said she could not help me. Instead, she fished all of my private, personal information, information that they could otherwise ONLY collect if I opened a rewards account with them.

Now, they are storing and using my personal, private, personal information. Companies routinely do this. It is an invasion of privacy, but they get away with it if you sign up with them for something and agree to their privacy policies which usually states you agree to let them use and "share," i.e. sell your information. I believe this is morally and ethically wrong, and in this case illegally obtained.

I have now filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office for Consumer Protection. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.

Antisemitic pharmacist

I had a prescription called into the Westfield, Indiana, Giant Eagle pharmacy. When I went to pick it up, the pharmacist, Karim, grilled me about my diagnosis, my health history, my marital status, and my religion - in front of everyone in line - before saying he was not going to fill it because it went against his "beliefs."

Caitly is a terrible employee and the manager isn’t much better

WOW, I witnessed terrible customer service tonight at Giant Eagle. I wasn’t even involved. I just witnessed it. Caitlin and Employee wouldn’t sell cigarettes to a customer at 9:55 PM while the store was still open. She literally said she chose not to. He recorded it and then the manager came because Caitlin was yelling. I don’t consent to the recording. She doesn’t consent because the store wasn’t closed yet and she wouldn’t sell a product that takes literally one minute to sell she spent more time arguing about not selling it to this guy when they were open. The store manager wasn’t much better. Completely unimpressed with the employees here. I don’t think I’ll be returning to this Giant Eagle and I wasn’t even involved in the interaction. I just witnessed crazy employees. Do better have better Customer Service. If someone walks in five minutes before closing, you’re still open. And it only takes a minute or two to sell a pack of cigarettes. I’m not a smoker myself. I was buying food and still checking out. They could’ve already sold him his product and he could’ve been on his way. Happy customer. Outrageous Giant Eagle outrageous as for Caitlin‘s ability to handle Customer Service it’s terrible. She should be fired. She’s definitely not a diffuser

Meat Counter at GE in Brentwood

Hi! I went to the Giant Eagle in Brentwood in search of a 3- to 3.5-pound pot roast. Robert at this store was very helpful. Even though he had clocked out and was on his way home, he took the time to cut a new roast for me. I was very pleased. Kudos to Robert.

I'm Glad I Quit

This might've been my worst job experience ever. I was hired out of a hiring event, thrown into the back to train & forgotten about. Good way to start off. The management was stuck up, picked favorites, insulted mine & my coworker's intelligence & did nothing about problematic coworkers. They forced me to be a greeter, a brand new position, for 4 of the 8 months I worked there. No chair or floormat; continuously talked down at by customers for just greeting them. It was also during freezing cold months & had to shove myself between products to stay warm. That wasn't in the job description. When I did do the job, which was cashier; customers were insufferable & management was never anywhere to be found. 9/10 times, you need a manager override for anything on the register. I would beg them to go home due to my uncontrollable panic attacks, and they would refuse to let me leave. Our hours got cut & they still hired more people. And the minors were scheduled to work during their after school activities; which wasn't fair. After I saw the problematic coworker assult the flower dept worker, I left my shift & submitted a letter of resignation. I will never work for them again or even shop there. They price gauge like crazy for products you can find cheaper somewhere else. I'm sure they do it because of the fuelperks, but nonetheless; this was a miserable & toxic place to work. It wasn't enough pay per hour anyway.

Terrible place to shop

First prices are wrong. I look up egg prices on their website and it says $5 to $9. I get there they only have one brand I never heard of and it is $13.99 for an 18 pack. They have one aisle marked as waffles and ice cream. It has veggies and all kinds of other stuff. How do you shop if you can't find anything? The prices are higher than all other stores. They pretend prices are lower because digital coupons but you only get those online and their website sux. They haven't upgraded or remodeled this store since Pittsburgh had 3 good sports teams. Their conveyor belts are 3 feet long it takes forever to checkout. My cashier seemed to only be able to use 1 hand at a time and no bag boys were present.
