The last time we did that Giffgaff were unable to switch it back even though it was requested from the same account. I haven't been receiving calls for a week now which is really frustrating so I have no choice but to switch to another provider..

I have been a client of GiffGaff for many years and it's an overdue recognition of their flawless service. Their monthly deals are great and every time I register my spare sim for holidays or for new burner phone purposes - they automatically send me a new sim. Zero effort from me - they just do all the thinking for their customer. I always keep a spare GiffGaff sim in my travel-bag in case I need reliable roaming provider and they have never disappointed me.

No SIM card
I thought I would give this company another try as my first experience in 2022 was not great. On purchasing an unlimited data contract for 18 month on the 22nd of June 2026, I am still waiting for my SIM card. 1 week later and the SIM card has not arrived. Trying to converse with a human is certainly a tough challenge. Is there anyone out there that can help me.
Avoid buying a phone from GiffGaff
Ordered a refurbished iPhone 15 Pro from GiffGaff in March. The phone came and the USB port was faulty so I opened a return to have the phone repaired or replaced. It took two weeks before they said a new replacement would be sent out as the problem was not fixable. I’m not hooked to my phone by any means, but two weeks without a phone is quite a lot.
The replacement phone then exhibited a faulty screen, which would flash green on occasion. I again, opened a new return and sent it back. This time it look over 3 weeks to get a replacement phone (after chasing up). This time the phone was the wrong colour, had more cosmetic defects than the others.
I complained saying that I didn’t want the this colour and they said that it’s a pick of the hat on what phones they have available for replacements. I can’t fathom why they think this acceptable or even permissible per the consumer rights act which states we’re entitled to receive a product which is “as described”.
Anyway, they said I should return the phone and they will offer me a refund as a good will gesture (that’s not what a goodwill gesture is, but hey-ho, I just want to get away from GG with my money at this point). I sent the return early June, still not heard anything back and having to chase.
Every step of the way, I am having to be “escalated with the resolutions team” (usually after the AI agent passes me on to a human agent). The online chat seems useless as it never links your logged in account with the live chat, so I’m forever having to find tedious pieces of information about my order to pass their security.
Their refurbished phone may be competitively priced, but I will avoid GG in the future for any mobile related business. Customer service is just poor and they clearly don’t inspect the refurbished phones carefully enough to send out multiple defective phones to one customer.

I have been a long standing giffgaff user and I cannot fault the variety of different sim only packages available at such an affordable price, the ability to switch or adjust monthly, and the ease of use on the app. However, what has brought my rating down is the lack of transparency when looking to buy a mobile phone through a pay monthly option, the customer service around this, and how my complaint which I raised was handled. It is not clear that a customer will be potentially charged two downpayments (one by giffgaff and one by the third party) and upon rasing a complaint around this I felt completely dismissed with the responses. The advisor who picked up my complaint just did a copy and paste quoting bumf off of the website, instead of looking to actually resolving my complaint. I have never been asked how this can be resolved or offered an alternative, nor have I been asked if my complaint can be closed, but this has been closed. If giffgaff are to agree to use a third party for customers to have as an option in paying for a new phone, then the details around doing this need to be made more transparent. Unfortunately, I would not look to buy a phone from giffgaff in the future based on the above.
Good product & seems hassle free.
Giffgaff offers good value whilst not forcing customers to go through the pantomime of having to negotiate a “discount “ at the end of a contract when other suppliers seem to increase prices well above inflation.
The move to having an add on 30
Day travel data sim for countries outside the EU is a game changer for me. Previously I used to buy a eSIM data package from a supplier that was good but very fiddly to install. Now I can simply buy the travel add on from giffgaff without the need to configure it into the esims on my phone.

Internet service isn't great
Internet service isn't great. Only reason I stay with this company is because they are cheap. I don't think you can contact a customer service rep if you need help. They do have offers on but I never feel it applies to me as I don't use my phone much. I only ever need extra data occasionally. I never use all my data because of bad signal in my area and I think it's a shame you can't carry it over so you have it when you need it.
