Giggling Squid Blight on Cobham High Streethave…

In Cobham Surrey Giggling Squid have taken over a large restaurant space for over a year. On their web site it says it is to open in 2025, it isn’t. The front had been covered in boards and is a blight on our lovely High Street.
The website also says work is on going and describes what is happening. This is also untrue. All is dark and no sign of any activity taking place at any time.

Delivery? Only if They Use Better Boxes!

We had a delivery. It tasted absolutely wonderful but presentation was appalling. They've crammed whole main courses into smallish boxes & of course, by the time it reached us, it had been thrown about a bit. It was delicious but those pink, silver-lined boxes are far too small. The duck was probably cooked as well as usual but in the box, the 'gravy' had slopped everywhere & so the skin was no longer crispy. That meal was not so pleasant.
Come on Giggling Squid, your food is fabulous but I'm not sure I'll be getting another meal delivered.

Don't bother

As two people on a quiet (five occupied tables) Thursday lunchtime we waited over 45 minutes for our order. The food was tasty but nowhere near warm enough, meaning had to eat quickly. The vegetarian option chosen was unpleasant with slimey vegetables.
The decor is pseudo Ivy with lots of plastic flowers.
Won't rush back.

Poor service and disappointing evening.

We came for my wife's birthday meal last night.

We arrived at 7pm and were seated promptly. We waited for 20 minutes before anyone came over.

We ordered drinks and food at the same time. Drinks arrived at the same time as the starters. No mention of the prosecco that we discussed on email when booking the meal.

Starter plates remained on the table until mains were served.

We finished our mains at 8.05 and no one came over until i got up and found someone at 8.45.

Really disappointing service from start to finish. No birthday prosecco, slow service, ignored for most of the night.

Only positive was that the food was lovely.

AVOID !! Never again

Well me and my partner went to giggling squid Gunwharf last night. NEVER AGAIN! All food was over cooked. Dripping in grease I hade samui Seafood for mains it was absolutely vile the muscles were dry and tasteless. Squid was overcooked like rubber dripping in grease butterfly prawn was cooked and battered with the shell on so had had to pick it out of my mouth! Who cooks like that. All tasteless, it took 46 minutes for our starters to arrive then another 50 minutes for our mains. My partner has salmon that was so overcooked it was hard the sauce tasted like tin can. This is not an authentic Thai restaurant as it makes out to be at £100 that actually terrible they take your money and don't care about the food it the worst restaurant I've ever visited and the food aswell. Loch fyne was much better. I will continue to not recommend this place.

Paid for food we never received

Ordered from their website for a delivery. Deliveroo came with only two of the six items we had ordered. Took the two items away and then marked it as delivered (as we had given him the code as he handed over the bag of food before we realised the order was light). Giggling Squid told us it was not their problem and to call Deliveroo. Deliveroo couldn't get hold of their driver and as we had given the code they weren't prepared to do anything about it. My advice - don't ever rely on Deliveroo or Giggling Squid to deliver a food order you've paid for

A disappointing evening

We visited the Knowle Solihull branch. A disappointing evening. Exceptionally poor service slow and unfriendly. I noted that the restaurant dictate a 7.5% gratuity, this is totally unnecessary, and greedy. I did leave a good gratuity, was there any thanks for it? - No. The portions are small and not worth the money charged. I ordered a Pandan cake which tasted heavily of garlic, two other of my guests tried it, and all agreed! this was returned. Nine guests were present, seven remarked that the meal was below average.
Would I visit again - no way! would I recommend? what do you think?

Poor Service

Dear Giggling Squid Team,

I am writing to share my disappointment with the service during my recent visit to your restaurant.

We arrived at 5:00pm, but our food was not served until 6:20pm. After waiting so long, we were then told that the kitchen had not processed our mains after the starter due to a change of staff. When reassured that the food would arrive within 5 minutes, it still took a further 15 minutes to be served.

During the entire visit, no one came to our table to ask if we needed more drinks or to check that everything was okay. The lack of attentiveness and the delays left us feeling ignored and frustrated.

Although the lamb shank was kindly removed from the bill, this gesture did not reflect the extent of our disappointment, especially considering the amount of money spent and the overall poor experience.

I have always enjoyed Giggling Squid in the past, but this visit fell far short of the standard I would expect. I hope you will take this feedback seriously to ensure that future customers receive the level of service that your restaurant is known for.

I would appreciate it if you could let me know how you intend to address this issue.

Kind regards,
Kennedy

Two dishes were actually inedible

Two dishes were actually inedible - uncooked and watery) and, when I complained, no follow up from the restaurant. They asked for information and then ignored us.
Carrots and potatoes were hard and the massaman was watery and sweet. Ordered a prawn dish (tofu with four prawns added) and a vegetable dish (was basically just tofu). Fine if you like tofu but that’s a separate order option on the menu and we don’t.
Basically, if you’re vegetarian or pescatarian, don’t bother.

Warm Sugar Syrup and Factory farmed Rubbish!

Attended back in April 25 after going to the Gin festival. left after taking one bite of the starters! Can't remember what it was, but with the warm sugary syrup we knew it wasn't for us. Its a chain, pure and simple and not about real Thai food. Should have believed the previous bad reviews but I thought maybe it was an over the top response, but it wasn't. Its all factory farmed rubbish and it won't be long before they close. Went to my local on Harborne High Street and won't be going again!

My 1st choice of restaurant. The best!!

I chose to have my birthday lunch at the Giggling Squid in Berkhampstead with my family. I have eaten there many times, not just for birthdays.
