We purchased a vehicle from them at the end of June 2025 and it has been nothing short of a nightmare ever since. The car has spent more time off the road than on it, with one issue after another and every single repair has been expensive. The list of problems is shocking.
The air conditioning wasn’t working at point of sale. We were told it would be refilled before collection, it wasn’t. We were then told to get it refilled ourselves and that we would be reimbursed. We did exactly that and were never reimbursed. Within four days, it had completely emptied again and that’s when we discovered the unit had a leak. At that point, GK Motors showed no interest and simply told us to go through the warranty.
The wheels were also problematic. They eventually replaced the tyres, but not the actual issue with the wheels themselves and the tyres they fitted were cheap budget replacements, not like-for-like with what was originally on the vehicle.The brakes were in a dangerous condition. The pads were so worn they were effectively welded on and the bleed screws had been rounded off, meaning additional parts had to be replaced just to carry out basic work.
We’ve also had ongoing engine and electrical issues. Oil problems, intermittent starting in cold weather and repeated glow plug faults. We’ve replaced the battery, glow plug module and all 5 glow plugs, only for all 5 glow plugs to fail again due to what is now clearly a serious underlying electrical fault. In total, we’ve spent an additional £4,000–£5,000 on repairs, on top of what we paid for the car and the problems are still ongoing. We also never received proper paperwork for the vehicle. We were told everything would be in the glove box, it wasn’t. The only document we ever received was the V5. No service history, no book pack, nothing. Despite repeatedly chasing, GK Motors have been unable to provide it. That alone speaks volumes about what they likely knew about this vehicle.
The experience with Evolution Warranties has been just as bad. Even with their top cover, we had to fight every step of the way, despite following all their rules. In the end, GK Motors had to step in to help push a claim for the air conditioning unit repaid to us, even though it had already been approved, but only after a huge amount of stress and wasted time. We now have zero confidence in the warranty and wouldn’t use it again.
This has been an extremely stressful, costly and frustrating experience. Do not use GK Motors, definitely do not purchase Evolution Warranties and take your business elsewhere.
