AVOID AVOID

I rented through rentalcars.com who have been brilliant...BUT DO NOT CHOOSE RENTAL FROM FIREFLY!!!!
Collection: I was made to feel my full protection insurance through rentalcars was rubbish/not insurance and was being forced to take out theirs, I refused and did the amount off cc...but she really tried to make things confusing when there was no need. Car was lovely no problems, only needed the car to get to resort and back.
RETURN: the guy instantly went to the front of the car where the bumper curved under and said there's a scratch, but you have insurance so you'll just have to claim (so at this stage my insurance was fine), you couldn't see that scratch unless you got down low on your knees, so this wasn't spotted by myself of my friend when we checked the car! He got really rude with us, I had not done this to the car which was extremely frustrating as I would have felt it! Anyways, he kept saying either sign and deal with the legal team or caim on your insurance, but I didn't do the scratch! Eventually, I just signed the document, and rentalcars have been great and sorted claim no problem! But it's not the point...it's like if you don't take out their insurance they will find anything as he didn't even check the rest of the car! I will never use firefly AGAIN and will make sure all friends nd family avoid too! Not worth the stress at the end of your holiday. I will from now on take 100's of pictures of cars, but in all the years I've rented and taken out different insurance this has never happened...never felt forced to do anything or spoken to like rubbish and saying 'why does it matter, you have insurance'...it matters when you didn't do it.

Firefly Rental )Alicate) Hidden charges taken after rental completed

Rented Firefly car via doyouspain.com which was picked up from Alicante Airport

Paid in full and took no additional insurance at airport.

Car returned and signed off as OK, 2 days later a charge of €95 taken from my credit card for 'Prem Road'. Not stated at the time or agreed to but it seems to be some additional insurance associated with upgraded roadside help.

have started to escalate to firefly helpdesk and have alerted the credit card company of unauthorsied transaction.

No response as yet but seems to be a scam of charging customers additional insurance they have not agreed to.

My advice is do not use Firefly as there are other much better car rental firms in Spain. SHAME ON HERTZ WHO OWN THIS FIRM FOR ALLOWING THIS FRAUDULANT CONDUCT.

Avoid!

Never use them! Avoid at all cost! Awful customer service. Poor communication, arrived 5 minutes late for Collection due to public transport to be told I could not take the car out and they could not do anything as I was late and the system blocks the car. Ended up paying £300 extra for a dodge ref t car with a different company

AVOID - HIDDEN CHARGES

I booked my rental in Malaga through EconomyCarRentals and got overcharged. The company uses a HIDDEN COST of refuelling of EUR33, even though the policy is Full-to-Full (so this is a charge for nothing). Moreover, they charge you more than it's stated on the voucher and direct you to EconomyCar Rentals instead - something that I will be taking to regulators.

Bogus Damage Charges

Rented a car from Malaga Airport, over a month after return received a letter demanding ~€200 for damage to a switch; they include photos only 1 of the switch which looks completely fine and several completely unrelated photos. The button was never used on my journey and if it was in fact damaged could no way have been due to improper use or any incident.

Absolute scam of a company avoid like the plague

On the day of collection I was informed that the car I had booked was unavailable and was offered a 7 year old car with noticeable damage all over it and with 45000 km on the clock. I requested an alternative car and was informed non were available therefore I hesitantly took the vehicle which was a huge mistake as the clutch on the vehicle failed after 3 days into my 7 day booking and I was subsequently charged €400 for a wear and tear item such as a clutch. Avoid this scam company at all costs they have a fleet of old cars that are highly likely to fail cars...You have been warned !!!

DO NOT use Firefly Car Rental

DO NOT use Firefly Car Rental
I rented a car with Firelfy for a week in Malaga airport. At the time of the picking up the car at the airport, the Firefly employee at the desk was preparing all the documentation. I did not ask for any extra insurance or something because I already took super coverage with my car rental agent. However at once I noticed there was strange amount added on the documentation which I inquired at once what this amount is. The sales person told me not to worry that it is just a deposit that will be held on my credit card and then after released upon returning the car if no any damages. I believed what he said and gave him my credit card to take the “deposit” amount he mentioned. After he gave me the keys and all was set. We got a nice car and we had a great holiday and no damages or something upon returning the car, so it felt all was going ok.
However, few days later after my holiday, I noticed that they have taken 147 EUR from my bank account without informing me or sending an invoice. For rental for a week in Malaga I paid 44EUR including super coverage, the deposit was 336 EUR which should be given back if no damages. We did not have any damages. So I was supper surprised what was this amount.
So I contacted the Firefly customer services several times by calling and email and when I got response they told me they it is the extra insurance I have taken, BUT I DID NOT TAKE EXTRA INSURANCE because I already had insurance. They said it shows on the agreement and there is nothing can be done. So the FireFly agent at the Malaga airport has completely lied to me and stolen my money. He misinformed me and did not inform me about extra insurance, he just simply have added it to my rental agreement. Outrageous! Tieves!! I was trying to get my money back with them but impossible. I even contacted ECRCS (European Car Rental Conciliation Service) to complain about the Firefly. I wish all their conversations would been recorded because then we could prove how their steal our money and as I said I am not the first person ( please read all the Trustpilot and google reviews about this horrible car rental which is strangely owned by Hertz which doesn’t give me any trust anymore for this car rental company either. I did not get my money back but at least I can inform you and bring awareness about this horrible car rental who steals money. PLEASE STAY AWAY from them!

Firefly are bordering on a scam outfit…

Firefly are bordering on a scam outfit and should be used with extreme caution. We rented car at Alicante Airport and returned it without incident. We asked if they would check it over but simply said to put keys in a box. Then receive a bill for damages which they will not substantiate with photos. We had checked everything and took some photos but they do not respond to our emails and attempts to check.
They are clearly desperate to make as much as they can from limited business in these covid hit times.
Disgusting attitude and ability to take what they want from your credit card for nothing should be stopped.

Do not use in Malaga

Do not use in Malaga - intimidating hard sell on insurance and extras then added insurance anyway and charged anyway. Still trying to get money back. Another classic Spanish rip off car hire company

Unethical company that rips you off at…

Unethical company that rips you off at the airport desk. I was charged nearly £200 after my trip without even knowing what it was for. They add on extras without explaining them to you or offering you the option not to have them and then simply charge your credit card when you're home. They have a company policy not to answer queries over the phone after your trip and instead tell you to email them at an address that does not get answers. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - Strangely it's part of Hertz. But operates differently.

They are a thieves

They are a thieves . Looking for a reason to charge extra money. In my case they did not accept my credit card because there was only initial of my first name. I used this card before in many places, including global and was OK. This time I had to pay additional costs over £100, or staty in the middle of the night in Poznan Airport. Previously they charged my credit card an additional money because I did not provided receipt of fueling. I left them original, that's why they was sure that I can't provide again. They did not take fact that tank was full. Just THIEVES!!!
Strongly advice keep away from them.

Cowboys 🤠

Alicante airport review.

Tried to hard sell me insurance even though I had my own. Ended up getting a car from an alternative provider and being out of pocket as they wouldn't give me the car without paying an extra £200, more than what I'd already paid for a weeks hire.

DO NOT USE!

Thieves... So what they do is if you take out…

So what they do is if you take out their insurance and return damaged nothing is said.
Now the guy taking it straight after who doesn't take out their insurance has all the new scratches and damages that they couldn't be bothered inputting onto the sheet.
Rip off sales techniques like ambiguous description of insurance.
Return car with full tank of fuel and be carefulk to take pictures of receipt and milage coz soon or later some corrupt employee of there's will highlight it as 1/8 used and charge you €50/€60 for fuel top up.
All I can say is yeah, take their cheap cars and play them at their own game but record conversation, car condition and return. Record every unscrupulous detail they use.

FIREFLY - They take your money for non-existent damage claims

FIREFLY

I hired a car from Firefly from 29th November 2019 till Dec 4th 2019.
The car they gave me had at least 16 areas of damage and only 6 were shown on the documents. I had already waited 30 minutes for this car, and if I had rejected it I would have been forced to wait a further 30 minutes. I photographed/video'd it all. After I had returned the car, no damage was found through their check-in process, for which I had allowed an hour. In fact they completed it in 5 minutes, and waved me away saying it was fine.
Weeks later I was charged 150 euros for damage.

The Firefly on-line documentation requires that the customer goes through the agency through which the rental booking was made. The agent was DoYouSpain, and they accepted that the rental company had done nothing wrong.

The only 'evidence' is a photograph of a pen against a piece of glass - it isn't time-stamped and does not show that it is the car I rented. It isn't even obvious that its a piece of glass on a car.

I have been unable to get my money refunded by Firefly. Firefly are a subsidiary of Hertz, which I previously thought was a reputable car rental company. The transaction was processed by Hertz, but they refused to accept any responsibility for the fraud perpetrated in their name.

Incidentally Firefly are required by Spanish law to have a complaints process, but refused to allow me to use it so it seems that they operate illegally.

UPDATE:
15 months later I have had a request to provide them with details of my claim, through Trustpilot.

I no longer have the details, but it seems that their customer service team has a backlog of over a year for dealing with fraud in their own business!

Absolutely disgraceful and corrupt company

Absolutely corrupt company. Do not use under any circumstances.

On pick up the representative spent loads of time trying to insist I took extra insurance, even though I made quite clear I didn't need it, as I had already purchased annual excess insurance in the UK. Then she tried to insist I pay extra for roadside assistance. All the time her manner was rude and unhelpful.

Once this charade was over, the rep. told me the car we were getting was brand new and therefore did not require checking for scratches as there were none. When we returned the car (having hardly used it and certainly not scratched it) the same rep. found the tiniest mark on one of the wing mirrors (almost unnoticeable), which was in a place that the scratch could not possibly have been caused through driving the car (and therefore must have been put there deliberately). We were charged €60 for this scratch.

I am absolutely convinced the rep. had put this scratch above the mirror prior to giving us the 'new' vehicle. This was planned.

Disgusting.

Location of this Firefly office is Seville Airport, Spain.

They charge what they like after you return the car.

Rented a Fiat 500 automatic from them, at Alicante airport, 20 days on a daily rate of .50 euro per day. An absolute bargain. However, the morning after returning the car I am emailed an invoice based on 1.10 euro per day.
It is only on checking my initial renters agreement that I find that the charges listed are "estimated charges".
You may think that it is still a bargain. You are missing the point. If they can charge what they like when you've returned the car and you're back in England, would you rent a car from them? Not knowing how they will amend the "estimated" to "actual" charges. No, I won't do it again either.

Baffled by negative reviews

Been meaning to write this review for a while, and was shocked to see the reviews posted. I have been using Firefly as my company of choice whenever I fly in and out of Bordeaux, which I do quite frequently. I went with them as my first choice after some excellent service the first time I used them, and following some dodgy dealings with other suppliers.

Each time I use them I find them honest, friendly and helpful. I always book extra insurance through Auto-Europe and never experience any questions when I've picked up the car. I've never been over-charged, and the reception staff have been happy to go over the car with me on return and confirm there is no problem.

So what's happening? Does this company only operate fairly in one airport? I'm distressed to read of the experiences of others, and completely baffled

Runway form this scam company!

My husband booked car in Valencia for 5 days started from 19 th December 2019. Hebooked through Holidayauto and paid online. He bought damage insurance from AXA as well. We picked up the car at the airport. At the desk, it took few minutes to get the car as all amount and insurance were paid before through online. When the agent saw my insurance policy, she did not ask me to buy their insurance and even did not offer me any other insurance. She just took my credit card information and told my husband that was everything already paid.

We returned our car on 24th December in the airport. On 31th December, when He received my credit card statement, He noticed they charged him in €155,17(Euros). He instantly contacted Holidayauto customer service and they found out that they charged him for insurance and advised me to contact Firefly. At the desk, even the agent did not tell me about their insurance or any other charge. But they charged him. He has not received their invoice or any explanation. This is totally absurd. This company is totally scam and they are being promoted by Holidayauto. He must say this is illicit business or activities. They cannot charge without discussing at the desk or beforehand. He will be happy to bring them to EU Court regarding their scam and illicit activities.

Extremely disappointing experience ...

Extremely disappointing experience ...
Extremely disappointing experience ...
Extremely disappointing experience ...
I used this company to rent a car with full insurance coverage for 3 days in Barcelona. Based on my need I collected the cheapest car (Fiat 500) and I paid 65 EUR.
When I was about to pickup the car, EUR 260 got blocked from my account by Firefly. They told me this amount of money will be released after I drop off the car and the investigation process, so I didn't ask about the details and signed the contract. But after 1 month I just received 158 EUR !!!!, when I asked them, they answered me as bellows:
"... your 260 EUR deposit includes, local insurance (SCDW), PAI (Personal Accident Insurance), a credit card fee, as well as an airport fee. "
Can I ask you a question guys?
How could it be possible to pay 165 EUR for the lowest level of car in 3 days when the most expensive offer from other companies was 75 EUR? and also if I had to pay this amount of money why I didn't know? why didn't they mention in their website when they were offering me the rental fees? and why the office guy didn't tell me that they will never give me back this 260 EUR.

So if you want to get surprised you can try Firefly and enjoy flying through the fire.
