Global Dental Scheme is NOT fit for purpose. Do not use.

I pay for private dental care through Global Dental and this expensive service is meant to come with an Emergency Service.

Unlike the Denplan scheme which is excellent, the Global Dental Scheme Emergency Service is shockingly poor and is unfit to be called as such.

My wife required an Emergency Appointment (which ultimately was diagnosed as an abscess) but globaldentalscheme.co.uk on 2 x occasions referred to the NHS111 service. On the 3rd attempt, using a different number provided by our practice, Global Dental Scheme offered her an appointment in Exeter, a 3-4 hour round trip from where we were on holiday, and at 1915hrs later that evening.

When I suggested that this was unreasonable, the agent commented that there were only 16 dentists on their list in whole of the the UK and that I was lucky it was as close as Exeter because there is only one in Wales!

In the event my wife had to take codeine tablets for the pain for 4 days until was able to get an Emergency appointment when we returned home. The dentist confirmed that she had an abscess and prescribed her antibiotics.

This was a shocking poor demonstration of a 'cowboy' emergency Service
