For many years I volunteered and taught teachers in Haiti, but due to political unrest I was no longer able to travel and work there. While searching for other opportunities to volunteer I came across Global Teacher’s website – and I’m glad I did. The Global Teacher program not only provides a wonderful opportunity for professional development, but it is also an excellent way to give back.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience teaching and learning in Lembongan, Bali, Indonesia. Coming from Canada, it was rewarding getting to work alongside colleagues from Australia and Indonesia and working with the keen and respectful students.

Excursions during our free time allowed us to take in the Balinese culture and countryside; highlights included visiting beaches, driving up into the mountains, and learning from artisans. Another highlight was simply living in a local community and getting to experience firsthand everyday life in Bali.

I highly recommend signing up for one of the programs Global Teacher offers – your teaching practice will be enriched, and your heart will be filled!!!

I would thoroughly recommend the Global Teacher Training program. Global Teachers provided a thoughtful, responsive and organised experience, leading up to and throughout the journey.
The immersive experience was the right balance of planning, teaching, culture and fun. The people I met, the discussion, collaboration and laughs will stay with me always. I was very impressed with the standard of accommodation, food and the personal service provided by the staff at our villa. We were well and truly looked after.
Overall, this program is a remarkable, life-changing and inspiring experience which has reinvigorated me and provided the perfect start to another year.

I can't thank Global Teachers enough for giving me this immersive experience and putting it into words is hard as it exceeded my expectations. Through this program I did not only teach the students, but they taught me. The Balinese are some of the most welcoming, caring and kind people and you could really feel this within the school and in the community.
This enriching experience was not only felt in the classroom but on the excursions where we got to enjoy the beauty of Bali and engage in some cultural activities including: waterfalls, dolphin tour, snorkeling, Bengkala village, basket weaving and a tour of the monkey forest.
I thoroughly enjoyed planning and presenting the PD to the local teachers who were so passionate and dedicated to learn from us. From all the professional conversations, I have left this experience with some new life long friends, amazing memories, a full heart, deeper understanding of the Balinese culture, inspired and so ready to use all my new found knowledge, passion and inspiration to take on the 2023 school year.

What an amazing 9 days I experienced teaching and learning in Lovina. Though I’d done a lot of overseas travel, I’d always avoided Bali because I didn’t want to be another Australian being a tourist in Bali. I wanted an immersive experience, and Global Teacher was perfect. I feel so privileged to have been invited to teach in the schools, and get to know Bali a different way. The kids were amazing, the Balinese teachers were passionate and friendly, and the Aussie teachers who joined me were knowledgeable, fun, and equally as passionate. I would highly recommend this to any teacher who embraces growth, collaboration, learning, and culture. I’m definitely doing it again. Thank you, Global Teacher, amazing Team Leader Ilana, and fellow teachers, Brooke, David, and Jodie.

Global Teacher provided me with an opportunity to reconnect with why I am a teacher. Working with wonderful Balinese students was reinvigorating. The Balinese teachers were welcoming and eager to share their skills and learn new ones. Classrooms were not dominated by technology. We were able to get back to the fundamentals of engaging with the students and their learning. My fellow Global Teachers, Brooke; Jodie and Seaneen were funny, inspiring, knowledgeable and team players. Our team leader, Ilana, is a truly wonderful person and led us with great humour and skill. We were instantly a team under her leadership. We had opportunities to meet many wonderful Balinese people and share their culture, food, humour and beautiful island. If you are looking for something different in your teacher career and give something back, don't hesitate to give a Global Teacher tour a go.

Like most of us we look for ways we can travel and experience new cultures within our profession . Global Teachers did exactly that for me .

A week of co- teaching in a primary school in different classes, engaging with teachers and students in and out of the classrooms. Experiences with their culture and how they learn , teach and play amongst themselves were the best part of the experience.

Each accomodation that we were staying at have the best warm welcome and made us a part of a family.

The adventures that we took as a group to the waterfalls, the daily debriefs and most of the all the new teacher friends that I have made in this program I will cherish for life ❤️ ♥️

I would definitely recommend anyone to take part of this experience and I would definitely do this again if offered.

What a fantastic experience I have had. The structure of this program is excellent; it supports teachers and allows them to explore beyond their capacities to give helping hands to those teachers striving for more skills.
I had access to the best Accommodation, transport, food and sightseeing, which were all organised ahead of time, As well as pick up from the airport and drop off. Also, daily debriefing and, most importantly, respect among the team members; it was terrific. I felt like I had known them years ago.
Thank you again for this beautiful experience, and I can’t wait to do this again!!

The Global Teacher Bali Program provides a unique opportunity to combine travel and teaching, and see a side of Bali that most people would never get to experience.

I had an amazing time working alongside local teachers in a junior high school. The students and staff were delightful and so welcoming. The teachers were very open to new ideas and strategies that were introduced through team teaching and modelled teaching.

Spending time in the school and seeing the way that teachers taught and interacted with their classes helped to create a tailored professional development session that was meaningful and beneficial to the local teachers. Professional conversations with the Global Teacher team were also very insightful and beneficial to creating a successful PD session.

Our accommodation and meals were first class for the entire program. There was plenty of space for working, relaxing, and getting to know our amazing team of Australian teachers who took part in this program. I have made the most wonderful new friendships and professional partnerships with the Global Teacher team and with local Balinese teachers.

If I was asked to take this opportunity again, I would do it in a heartbeat. This is a wonderful program that is beneficial to Indonesian teachers and students, and to my own teaching practice.

If you love teaching and travelling this is the perfect combination! This experience allowed me to share my professional knowledge with beautiful Balinese children and their welcoming local teachers.

This program exceeded my expectations! I was so excited to find an opportunity which combined my passion of travel and helping others. Being fully immersed in a small Balinese school and working alongside local staff and students was an invaluable experience that I will cherish forever. From observations, to team teaching to modeling classroom strategies to local staff throughout the week was well structured. Our professional conversations helped me understand the local context and what resources they have access to in order to realistically implement strategies staff could use. Having the opportunity to present a Professional Development to the local teachers (based on observation and their feedback), truly felt beneficial to everyone involved. The last two days of excursions were the cherry on top to my time in Bali! 10/10 recommend this program to other like minded teachers!

For years I had been searching for a program that allowed me to travel overseas and donate my time, teacher knowledge and experience - Global Teacher ticked all those boxes!
I was reassured as it was a local (Brisbane) program implemented by a global-minded teacher who recognised the need for professional exchange in developing countries. From the time I applied, to the end of the experience, I was completely reassured by the organisation of the program and was professionally supported the entire way through. We were grateful for the close in-country partnership with Bali Children Fund and local schools and were humbled by the warm welcome we received in Bali from the local teachers and children.
What an amazing experience! The accommodation was first class and allowed us to relax and bond as professionals during our teaching week. The professional development day was an exciting end to the week and we received much positive feedback from the local teachers and all organisations involved. I truly feel that Global Teacher makes a difference. I have made some close continuing professional partnerships and friendships and feel that Global Teacher has once again ignited my love of teaching and learning.

The Global Teacher program allows you to gain real insight into the education system in Bali. You interact and work closely with the very sweet and warm Balinese teachers and students within the school setting with the aim of providing and gaining PL experience.


During the program we stayed in the most beautiful villa imaginable on a remote mountain close to the schools. There was time each day after the school visit for swimming and relaxing by the the pool. The villa's very own Balinese cooks served us meals twice a day which were divine.

A choice of excursions to see more of Bali were included. White water rafting in the jungle was so much fun and we even saw some monkeys on the river bank playing and paddling. We also
visited a stunning waterfall where we were able to have a refreshing swim at the bottom.

I would recommend this program to any teacher who loves adventure, luxury and helping others.
