AVOID !!!!

AVOID !!!!! Overcharged, extremely late delivery from UK to Portugal with stupid excuses throughout, awful communication and our belongings which were extremely costly arrived completely damaged. Ignoring our emails calls and letters demanding insurance to cover the damages which was stated we had. Will be taking this further. No wonder they have changed their name!!!

Avoid GM-Movers.com

Avoid GM-Movers.com (which apparently changed their name to Excellent Removals Ltd !).
I strongly advise against using gm-movers.com
Everything seemed fine at first, quick responses, and polite communication. But once they collected my items, communication stopped completely for four days. They didn't acknowledge the collection as previously agreed. They ignored my emails and calls, and even the removal platform, GetAmover, couldn’t reach them.
Later, they claimed my shipment weighed 60 kg more than I had measured but refused to provide proper proof, only sending a short video of a screen showing the weight. They wouldn’t deliver my belongings until I paid an extra £200, leaving me no choice.
Delivery took nearly a month, and when my items finally arrived, the boxes were wet, muddy, and damaged, with some furniture broken.
Their professionalism disappeared after collection — polite before, rude and unhelpful after.
Dishonest, unreliable, and not worth the stress. AVOID THEM !

An absolute disgrace....

If I could rate it 0 star I would...
DO NOT WORK WITH THEM!!!

We chose to work with GM Movers Ltd which recently changed their name to Excellent Removals Ltd because they seemed to be professionals when handling our quote.
We used them to relocate from England to Spain on October 6th 2025...
We wish we had never worked with them...

They have continuously asked us to pay several deposit before collecting our belongings then sent us videos of "extra weight"which was not part of the agreed quote, resulting in an increase of our invoice by £800...
Then without providing us with a delivery date and any update on when it would occur they requested for the final balance to be settled...
We decided not paying as we had no information on when we would be delivered.
After a lot of negotiations over messages on WhatsApp and emails with Alice, they decided to wait.
2 weeks after collecting our belongings they claimed our stuff would be loaded in their van but only if we were settling the final balance within the next 2h...
We explained once again that we would only pay once we knew the date the truck would leave the UK and also upon confirmation of a date of delivery ...
We also requested for the custom forms to be provided but to this day, no forms were given to us.
They threatened us to leave our belongings in a secure storage unit at our own cost if we didn't pay the final payment but without granting us access to the custom forms although requested on numerous occasions...
Upon telling them that we weren't comfortable paying without being assured that our belongings had left the UK territory they eventually provided us with a link to follow the progress of the van... Sadly without gaining access to the signed custom forms obtained by the authorities we still weren't sure the van we were tracking using the link provided by GM Movers Ltd was legit...we decided to wait before settling the final invoice.
We explained the reasons why we didn't want to pay but they showed no understanding nor demonstrated any professionalism in trying to accommodate our request...
All we got were threats of leaving our belongings in a storage room at our cost...
Seeing that we weren't making any progress, we decided to trust them and paid the final balance.

The driver eventually arrived on his own although we had paid for a 2 men job.
He unloaded the van and left our belongings in the garage AND NOT in our flat, blocking the way to neighbours needing to park their cars and left claiming that he would be back after parking the van down the road to avoid blocking the access to the garage.
That person never came back and my wife and 2 children aged 13 and 10 were left in shock having to bring all our stuff in our flat located on the first floor... garage being in the lower ground...as I was away with work.

How could a company having received the full payment of their invoice behave so disgracefully?
Our belongings were not handled carefully, they are damaged, we are missing boxes and other items...this is quite shocking and appalling.

Please stay away from this company "GM Movers Ltd" which now do business under the name of "Excellent Removals Ltd".

They're everything but excellent!!!

I repeat once again for your own sake: STAY AWAY FROM THEM... Otherwise you will regret it dearly.

We will see them in court...

full of statements that were not true

an update to my earlier review, I am not the same person as the other review, we are all individuals being treated awfully. My stuff arrived eventually absolutely filthy, the insurance we were told was included is nowhere to be seen, there is no refund being given for the over compensation for incorrectly overcharging me. There was little to no contact during this time apart from 3 messages stating our stuff had left the uk, when it had not

Really bad experience

Really bad experience, it took 38 days to arrive instead of four,(from 26th of August to the 3rd and 6th October) double the price claiming extra weight and when the consignment note arrived it is less than a third of what they charged, but also the condition of my items is shocking. Beds with bird’s droppings, dishes broken… everything so filthy….if I could go back in time I would not choose them even if it were free.
Very stressful and frustrating experience!! Now waiting for the insurance and reimbursement of the extra weight.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience: our things were collected on August 26 from Norwich to be moved to Toulouse. Today is September 29 and our things are still in the UK and we have to camp in our apartment in Toulouse without any visibility on when our belongings will be delivered.
First, the company made us pay more money saying our things were heavier than expected (no way for us to check), then they were claiming that customs paper work takes time, now that all their trucks are broken and they can't deliver.
We have 2 kids and no things. It's been 4 weeks (sept 22) which are very challenging. We had to buy necessary things without which life is impossible. A lot of expense, nerves and frustration and no visibility on when it ends!
We are taking the legal action: contact citizens advice first and than be ready to go to the court!

Late Deliver, Overcharge Scam, No Customs Papers, Damaged Goods

I suffered a similar experience back in early August than other users. My move with GM Movers was a nightmare: goods collected but delivered late, contract price inflated (almost triple of original quote) after collection of partial items, no customs paperwork at all (illegal for cross-border transport), and most belongings arrived broken or damaged. A complete scam — avoid at all costs. I am taking legal actions, I would recommend other to do the same.

Having the same experience as Maria…

Having the same experience as Maria below, collected our belongings on the 14th August for a move to Spain, 3 days later demanded double the money claiming weight despite no mention of it before. Its now the 16th September no response or timescale i have a 3 year old and 12 year old and we are sleeping on the floor. No savings as they took that on the condition they would deliver a few days after we paid double. We have no clue if we'll get our stuff at all, all my eldests stuff for school is in their warehouse, can't even get a way to collect it ourselves, how can they get away with this?

Great experience, wonderful staff

The staff were wonderful to work with as and made it a very easy and painless experience. I had real-time tracking on the van when it left the UK all the way to the country where my shipment was going. Nothing broken or missing . Highly recommend them.
