Misleading, Inconsistent, and Not Worth It for Serious Testing

I ordered eight 5-lb bags of paydirt from this company for a specific purpose: to run them as independent test batches through my Gold Hog Multi-Sluice, improving my cleanup technique and evaluating flow control and retention. Instead, I received two 20-lb bags labeled “4x5lb,” which immediately broke the intended test structure.

Still, I adapted and split one of the bags into four 5-lb runs. The first two came up completely empty — not a single flake. Later runs produced one small picker and some fines, but most of the material was either skunked or barely showed a return. The final 11-lb run had a heavily loaded sluice mat, but almost no visible gold.

To top it off, the material shipped from Virginia, which has no known active placer mines — and what I received was basically washed sand with little mineral variation. No gravels, no heavies, and no texture you’d expect from natural gold-bearing concentrates.

I used proper technique, Jet Dry, clean gear, and I documented every step. This wasn’t user error — this was paydirt that didn’t deliver. The whole operation feels like a bait-and-switch: they may salt one bag now and then, but most of what they sell is low-value material dressed up as “rich.”

I won’t be buying again, and I’d strongly advise anyone serious about gold recovery or gear testing to look elsewhere.

Same as other reviews

Same as other reviews. No nugget even at the smallest size. The few flakes of gold I couldn't even pick up with tweezers. Horrible company.

It's a rip off. Don't waste your money.

Don't waste your money. Home Depot sand is right. A couple tiny specks in each bag. No nuggets, flakes, or pickers. Total rip off! And no, they won't refund your money. They will offer a replacement IF you send them back the original dirt, which, of course, has been panned away. Oh, and you have to send multiple emails just to get a response. So much for their "100% satisfaction guarantee".

I purchased what Goldn Paydirt…

I purchased what Goldn Paydirt advertised as a “museum specimen” bag—promising sizeable, showcase-worthy gold. What arrived was little more than common paydirt with only a few barely visible specks. To make matters worse, the company has bombarded my phone with roughly five marketing texts every single day since my order, even after I opted out.

Misleading product claims, relentless spam, and zero accountability make this a vendor I simply can’t recommend. Save your money and shop elsewhere.

Product Nothing Like Advertised

Product was nothing as advertised. "Museum Specimen Nuggets" turned out to be microscopic "specks" that couldn't have been worth more than a nickel. When I complained, the response was "buy more and we'll add more in by hand." Buy more?? Right. Customer service was horrible to deal with. Finally got a refund through my credit card. If you want a bag of sand, go to a sandbox, you might actually find more gold there.

Home Depot Sand they are reselling

Home Depot Sand they are reselling. Ripoff. Microscopic ultra tiny pieces you can’t retrieve. Was promised hand added gold display nuggets. Won’t issue a refund in unopened bag. Don’t waste your time or money. Scammers.

Extremely disappointed

Very disappointed. I have ordered over 60 bags of various types from them. They even promised to hand fill some bags for me with big pieces of gold. I fell for it with the same results. If I combined what I found in all 60+ bags I’m not sure I could fill the base of a little baby spoon with my findings. DO NOT BUY!!!

Scam

They sent me an offer for b1 get 4. They only sent 1 bag. Shorted me 3. Never responded to my emails. Out of 6, 50 dollar bags I didn’t even get enough gold to to measure and I’m a seasoned gold planner. Beware of this company

This company scams people

This company scams people! Our of 3 lbs. I saw many 6 microscopic flakes! I told them they should give free microscopes with every order so that we could possibly see some gold. They offered triple bags on my next order. I told them that it's not worth it because THERE IS NO GOLD!

Demanded more money for missing bag

I was shorted the bonus free bag that was promised with my purchase. When I contacted them about it they said I could buy more from them and they would send an extra the my next order. WHAT??? I have to spend more to POSSIBLY get what I already paid for??? I have no money for that.
They said I could return them for full refund, I pay shipping of course, which means the birthday gift that I BARELY got in time for the birthday just won't happen at all??? No I had to give her a gift. I couldn't wait to get a refund before I could afford another gift way after her birthday happens. She doesn't know it was shorted. BUT I DO cause I paid for it with money I saved up for a LONG time.
The way this company acted it almost felt like a ploy to get more money out of their customers. Force them to spend more money to get what they already paid for.
SCAM
And if it's not a scam and they didn't do this on purpose TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THIEVES!

Overall, as expected, some even better!!

The bags were what I expected. I was not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Some bags had more gold than others but thats what was promised. The cool thing was, every bag had a good amount of real gold. The crazy thing is, one of the bags, was really rich, we had so much fun panning them. Solid company in my opinion.

Had a great time, this was fun!

I got my goldnpaydirt very fast, faster than others. I found more than enough gold to leave me happy and also had a few hours of panning fun. I would recommend this and have already purchased 6 more for my people.

I'm extremely disappointed

I'm extremely disappointed with the dirt I received from this company across three separate orders. The quality has been consistently subpar, and my attempts to contact customer service have been met with complete silence. This business seems to have no regard for its customers and I feel ripped off. I strongly advise against purchasing from them and will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Only Dirt

Company uses bait and switch tactics. Promises higher end bits of gold, but in reality you get alot of dirt. Barely a small flake if your lucky even if company advertises a certain of gold in their bags. Customer service unhelpful. SCAM buyer beware. 8 bags 1 miniscule flake. Should get a zero, but then you cant write a review. Company should be shut down , dishonest
