Great quality and service

Have used this website to order our Christmas salmon for four years on the trot and have been been completely satisfied every year. The quality is superb, the salmon is very well packaged and delivered on time.

One year I had accidentally ordered an unsliced side of smoked salmon instead of sliced. They happily sent the one I wanted after a quick and easy email to them explaining my mistake.

Overall excellent service and will no doubt be using them for years to come :)

Great salmon but a terrible user experience.

I ordered from this company a few times and had a subscription setup. At first it was great but like a number of bad companies it seems that when there is a problem, there is really a problem.

I had a nightmare of a time trying to cancel my subscription and they have a website that seems to make this needlessly challenging. Eventually due to my exasperation I emailed a complaint to their customer service email and got the following passive aggressive response from their Managing Director.

"All future subscriptions have been cancelled. All you had to do is e-mail us if you couldn't get in yourself...."

In my experience problems that start at the top are much harder to resolve than those that start at the bottom.

The smoked salmon is good and they're probably still worth ordering from if you want a one time order but for the love of God, do not setup an ongoing subscription.

Dreadful Customer Service, Late Delivery, Rancid Salmon

I place a £70+ order to be delivered on the Thursday before Easter, my first time ordering with this company. The salmon did not arrive on the nominated delivery day, or the next day, which totally ruined my entertaining plans for Good Friday. The salmon was finally delivered on Saturday morning, when we were out all day. The package was left on top of my parcel bin in full sun, where it remained for several hours until we arrived home. Not surprisingly after 48 hours sitting in a delivery warehouse, then several hours in the sun on a warm spring day, the salmon was rancid!

I sent 3 separate emails to the company, none of which have been replied to - I finally received an automated email this morning informing me that the order will be refunded. I don't have the money yet. As a first time customer, the whole experience was really poor and caused me a significant inconvenience as I wasn't able to serve the fish to my guests as planned.

Whilst the delay was probably the fault of DHL, I have received no apology or acknowledgement from Goldstein. It appears that they couldn't care less about customer experience and have no interest in retaining customers. I can't comment on the salmon itself as it went straight in the bin!

I will stick to buying my smoked salmon from Pished Fish and my fresh salmon from The Fish Society in future.

Unacceptable conditions of delivery - high risk seafood

The order was delivered in a plastic package warm, without any ice, expiry date label, or a receipt. It is a standard in the food industry in the UK to attach an expiry date label on the outside side of the item to make consumers aware of the use by/end date of the perishable product, especially in the case of seafood food consumption.

Due to a high risk of food contamination, we have thought it would not be acceptable to consume it. The return policy on the website stipulates that we are not able to return the fish. It is unacceptable.

Left a review a couple of days ago…

Left a review a couple of days ago giving 3 stars, as smoked roe had not arrived on time, this was not Goldsteins fault. There was a holdup at DPD. So roe has arrived, only a day late it is very good and we hope that these delivery problems are rare. Best to order at start of the week and we will be doing just that. Thanks Nick.
