No words can adequately describe the…

No words can adequately describe the impact David's lecture had on me. I realised that my generation was manipulated to ditch the health traditional foods we grew up eating in favour of these highly processed foods. It's the deception which really brought me to tears. Had it not been for Goldster, I would have lost my life because of these misconceptions and deception in the food industry. Thank you David. You delivered a very powerful inspirational lecture which changes lives. what an inspiration! The world needs to hear this.

Great communicator

Virginia is really good at balancing different abilities. Also very clear communicator. I enjoy her classes. Jess too! More broadly I like the variety of disciplines in the morning classes. But over all I feel the classes are not challenging enough. I probably won’t renew next year on that basis. Thanks, K

Weight-wise is worth its weight in gold

Goldster seems to have moved into the space of Second Nature offering a tailored nutrition and exercise programme but at a very much lower cost.

Claudia LeFeuvre is amazing, her nutrition expertise and ability to communicate enthusiasm is unmatched in my experience of Personal Trainers and Nutritionists.

I have completed the 10 day reset, following the guidelines. The range of food is demonstrated with recipes and a chef Ollie who showed us techniques to create sauces and nut butter from scratch. That was the first session, and I made mayonnaise which was so delish! Since then he has shown us many useful dishes to make the Food tasty and filling. The reset is restricting sugar, wheat, red meat and dairy and I enjoyed every meal.

The on demand aspect is amazing - you can review any class indefinitely, which makes it very flexible. The facebook group is supportive, a lovely group of people.

Kath Temple has a provocative, psychology approach to weight-wise dilemmas.

There are other interests catered for - art classes and french conversation, but they used to have history and literature giants like Lucinda Hawksley which no longer are running. These programmes are still available on demand if you know what to put into the search.

Edit - they are still being recorded, I am bookmarking them.

Goldsters Weight Management Programme

Goldsters Weight Management Programme
There has been massive support to partake in this programme by Goldsters. I have received information on nutrition, exercise, psychological advice and have been given and shown recipes to follow. There is a lot of encouragement and as a consequence I have lost some weight, feel fitter, have more energy, and I am enjoying eating healthier. I am more conscious of my food choices and more aware of ingredients in the products that I buy. I want to continue with this lifestyle and thank Goldsters for helping me. I have not participated in an exercise programme for years, but have enjoyed the range of exercise programmes available and felt able to choose the programmes which suit me getting back into moving healthily. Thank You Goldsters😊🌞😀

A great resource for all

I joined Goldster during lockdown and it was amazing to be able to do so many different types of classes, both exercise (Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi, Fitness…) and leisure(Book club, Painting, Dancing, Language….). I found all tutors to be supportive, knowledgeable and happy to offer adaptations where necessary.
I left once I started going out and joining real life classes but have recently rejoined Goldster as I've found it impossible in real life to get to or afford the great variety of activities offered by Goldster at what I think is a very reasonable price. I really appreciate the new clinics, Weight-Wise has taught me a lot and is starting to work, I’d love it if it was able to continue after the initial few weeks. There’s help for Chronic Pain and Joint Pain.
All in all, a great resource for a good price 😊

Still not convinced about the 'new' Goldster

I have been a member of Goldster for many years and would have previously given it 5 stars. I am on the younger membership side, and Goldster proved to me that age really is just a number, and everyone of all ages seemed to relish the varying challenges. Since the last ‘letting go’ of tutors, the energy of the platform has changed. Resistance has been reduced by half (even though Goldster extols the importance of strength training), with a growing number of the classes moving away from prevention and now focussing on mobility and pain management. There are also a considerable number of ‘chat’ classes, which seem repetitive and not as focussed as previous courses (nutrition being an exception). I believe the ‘new’ Goldster is aimed at an audience who may be isolated or have more chronic health issues. I agree there is a need for inclusivity, and I am mindful that it does suit many, I am just sad at what I have lost as a long-term member. Luckily, Pilates classes were reinstated and have kept me on the platform, but I have had to look elsewhere to keep up my level of strength training which is a top priority for me.

The weight wise program is very supportive when you want to improve your health and/or lose some weight. The recommended food is healthy and delicious; advice given is down to earth, realistic and the tutors are very helpful. Their advice is second to none!

Very Disappointing…

I have been using Goldster for a few years now and found it really good. Recently changes were made and the trainers I particularly liked have all gone. There are still a few good ones but sadly the ones I am not so keen on now do a lot more of the classes I enjoyed which means I am doing a lot less. If it wasn't for the very reasonable cost I would have cancelled my membership. I also much preferred the previous method for navigating the website. It was so much easier to find things. I am computer literate but find it all so very complicated.

Unhappy.

When I first joined Goldster during the second Covid lockdown their weekly schedule of classes included an artclass or two for four of the five weekdays. They also had three art tutors which meant there was a variety of styles and subjects to paint. They have now cut this down to two artclasses a week and one art tutor! So obviously I am not happy hence the three stars. Previously I would have given them five.

I thoroughly recommend Goldster

Brilliant company and fantastic support all round for over-55's who wish to keep fit, mentally, physically, emotionally and so many activities to choose from every day etc. Lots of fresh ideas in nutrition, psychology, fitness, plus personal input, if you have a query etc. Even though it's online, it doesn't feel like it. If you miss a class, you can view the recording on demand so you can keep up. There's something for everyone. Try it and you will be hooked!
