I would rate zero if possible

I would rate zero if possible. I wonder if this company makes it so hard to spend the gift cards that they get to keep all the money. Firstly looking for a restaurant to spend this at and I found at least 6 restaurants in their list permanantly closed. Then when we try to activate the card, their website is done. A waste of time and money.

TOTAL SCAM I have had several of these gift cards…

I have had several of these gift cards given to me over the last few years. Very difficult to use as restaurant choice limited then they have trouble using the card. Last total value on 4 x $200 cards. Also had issue with pin not being readable on one card. Perfect scam as once you find out you can’t use the card you have to pay at restaurant you wouldn’t have gone to otherwise and you’re not going to go back to the gift-giver months later and say their gift was invalid. I have had 3 cards at least that they claim were never loaded despite them being bought for full value. I spoke to TCN who issue the cards who advised me that the purchaser should send them a copy of the receipt and card after purchase to ensure the card was loaded! They clearly know this is a problem with cards not being loaded with any value yet they don’t tell people this on purchase, you only find out later when there is no way to track the receipt from the purchaser.

AVOID

Went to one of the restaurants listed on the Good Food Guide website as accepting the Good Food Gift Card. The only reason we chose that restaurant was to use the card. When we went to pay, we were told that the restaurant wouldn't accept the electronic version of the gift card. After much discussion we convinced the people at the restaurant to let us try to use the electronic card. However, they would not split the transaction to allow us to pay part of the balance owing on the card, and the remainder using cash. The restaurant has no published guidelines for the use of the card.

We followed up with The Card Network (the card issuer) and explained our experience. Their response was: "Any dispute regarding goods, services, or transaction acceptance must be resolved directly with the merchant."

The Card Network also pointed to their terms and conditions: * "While we list merchants that have opted to accept the card, all transactions are ultimately subject to individual merchant acceptance." * "This means that even if a merchant is listed on our website, they may have internal policies or system limitations that prevent them from accepting the card for certain transactions." * "Gift cards are subject to individual merchant acceptance." * "We are unable to reimburse the balance or intervene in merchant-specific payment policies."

So basically, the card is worthless, with no guarantee of card holders being able to use it with advertised partners.

A very disappointing experience leaving us out of pocket.

PIN Destroyed

Went to take off the sticker covering the PIN code and the card (found it was made of cardboard) simply ripped away like tissue paper. $100 lost to the ether. I was gifted this 18 months ago so very difficult to track down proof of purchase. A lot of fake/paid reviews making this card seem better than it is. Stay far away. Most cards are plastic and far more resilient. Utter trash.

I'd give this 0 stars if possible.

Never ever ever ever buy these…

Tried to activate the card and advised it’s expired, despite it being within the 3-year limit. They just took the money - which is an awesome business model if you happen to be a total thief. Wrote to them Asking for a refund - nothing.

Would not recommend this card to anyone…

Would not recommend this card to anyone We received this as gift and we went online to check balance couldnt log in and 2 days later an email finally replied to telling me card expired in 2021 the year we received the card !!!
Completely unwavering and never admitted to possibly a mistake at their end we now have a useless card worth $100 and have received nothing in return but they have pocketed the cash
No wonder there is a billion dollars in unused gift cards in Australia as they make it so hard to use them !!!
My advice is give cash you can use it anywhere and doesnt expire and stop supporting these companies who dont value customer service

Worst experience

I recently received a Good Food Gift Card. I checked their website for approved restaurant partners, called the restaurant prior to dining to ensure they accepted the card, and even showed the card to the waitress prior to ordering. She confirmed that they accepted the card as payment. After dining I tried to pay with the gift card and it was declined multiple times. I called the Good Food customer service line but there was no answer. Not only was this extremely embarrassing, but very inconvenient as I had to pay the full bill out of my own money. Needless to say, it wasn’t something I could afford. I only went to that restaurant to use the gift card. I eventually reached the Good Food customer service team the following day and explained the situation. They could clearly see that multiple attempts had been made to use the card and acknowledged that the restaurant did in fact accept these cards, but they continually blamed the restaurant, accepted no responsibility and refused to refund the gift card. I spent 45 minutes on the phone, during which time my call was escalated to a supervisor who repeatedly told me the card worked perfectly and it was the restaurant’s fault. Now I’m $120 out of pocket for a meal I would have never had if not for wanting to use this gift card. Terrible experience and absolutely appalling customer service.

I was double-charged and received nothing

At the end of last year I tried to order a Good Food e-gift card recommended by a friend. On my first attempt the website had an error - I was charged but a refund was immediately sent to my account. I thought it must've been a glitch so made a second attempt which went through. However, I never received any gift card in my email.

I contacted customer service and understandably that it was over the Christmas period (with bank holidays included) so I was happy to wait for the refund to be processed. That said, after over a month of back and forth correspondence, I still haven't received my refund. The customer service was essentially inefficient and the way they responded to my enquiries felt like they never actually looked into the problem. I received either inconsistent information (e.g. after claiming refund has been processed, they told me it is yet to be processed and ask me to wait for another 10 business days, etc.) or messages that seems like canned responses.

Very frustrating experience. Do not recommend. Still waiting for my bank to investigate and dispute the transaction - this is also a lengthy process due to VISA card regulations.
