Definitely not a GOODMOVE

We recently moved house using a company called Goodmove (website goodmove.org.uk. I don't think this company has any connection with goodmove.CO.uk). Although not listed on Trustpilot, it's website showed it to be a trading name for White & Co, which had good reviews.

What a disaster! We had a totally unworkable removal plan imposed upon us at the last minute with predictable results. Prior to our move we obtained three quotations. All three companies proposed a similar pattern. Day before completion, most of our goods loaded, leaving only basic necessities for the next two nights. Completion day - load remaining items onto small van for delivery that day. Day after completion, remainder of goods delivered. All three stressed that as we were top of a
chain, completion may be late in the day and logistics in Central London could complicate matters, hence minimal move that day. We understood and accepted this logic. At exchange, we were informed this would now be a 4-day move. We were not happy as the new 4-day plan was clearly ludicrous This was to load around half our goods two days before completion and another lorry the next day. On completion day they would unload the van AND one big lorry, with the rest the next day. Clearly, this was never going to work, given the likely constraints on completion day. When I argued this I was told they were the experts and I should trust them. In reality, I had no choice as, at this late stage in December, other companies were unable to assist. As expected, moving day went badly, keys were around 90 minutes late and they were only able to unload the small van that day because of driving hours and working hours rules. One of the two big lorry loads was delivered the next day (Friday) and they thought they could deliver the rest on Monday. Only after much argument did they deliver the remainder on Saturday. Much was made of the late availability of the keys to the new property. They claim 4.5 hours when it was more like 1.5. They also claimed the concierge would not allow them to work after 6.00pm. Again, not true. In summary, a promised 3-day move was changed to an unworkable 4-day move, resulting in a highly predictable and highly unsatisfactory 5-day move.

Goodmove consider they did a good job and will not offer compensation. White and Co have never replied to my emails. It's now with the Ombudsman.
