Disappointed – quality far below expectations

We have been coming to Tenerife for years and unfortunately noticed a decline in standards, but this hotel has been by far the worst experience.

Food
The food was unacceptable for a hotel advertised as 4-star. The variety was extremely limited and repetitive, with very little fresh fish and almost no local products (not even bananas, which is surprising in Tenerife). The buffet feels unmanaged, with no balance or quality control.
There were no proper food labels. On the rare occasions when something was labelled, the ingredients did not match what was written. This creates confusion and makes it unreliable for anyone with allergies or dietary requirements. Overall, it gave the impression that there is no food consultant or professional oversight.

Cleanliness
Cleaning standards were equally poor. Tables and children’s highchairs were wiped with the same cloth that had a strong unpleasant smell. Rooms were only superficially cleaned. Toiletries were diluted – the shower gel was mixed with so much water it barely produced any foam.

Service & Management
There was no effort from management to collect feedback or improve guest experience. The overall service felt neglected and careless.

This hotel does not meet 4-star standards and leaves the impression of being either poorly managed or facing financial issues. Unfortunately, nothing about the stay is worth remembering in a positive way. We would not return and cannot recommend it.

Hotel on a big hill 😁

As with the my other review about the flights from Norwich I should’ve checked more about the position of this hotel especially as I was there celebrating my 70th birthday.
On arrival at this hotel I thought we had picked a good one but then I saw the stairs everywhere. I couldn’t believe it when I opened the door of our apartment to see it was on two floors. Bedroom and bathroom on bottom floor and front door , another bedroom and kitchen on top floor. Me being dense didn’t know what a duplex apartment was.
We weren’t too bad with the outside stairs where our rooms were but because the hotel is built on a huge hill the buildings are staggered uphill and laying beside the pool the next day on the uncomfortable loungers we could see these people climbing this massive flight of stairs. There might’ve been lifts but we weren’t over that side so didn’t find out.
On the hotel description it says bus shuttle service to beach which I thought would be a fairly regular service during the day but there is only one bus leaving hotel about 10.45 and then one coming back about 17.00 (might’ve been later I can’t remember). We had enough by about 14.30 so had to get taxi back.
There is nothing near the hotel, if you want to go to a bar outside the hotel it is a good hike away and then coming back it is all uphill so anyone who isn’t fit, or probably even those that are fit, it’s a taxi ride especially back.
Apart from that the hotel isn’t bad. The food was good, evening entertainment wasn’t too bad but mostly catering for the children. Adults get about an hour, roughly 21.30 until 22.30, way too short. The drinks weren’t too bad but I did go to bed sober every night 😁
Staff are fantastic and work very hard and rooms are kept really clean

If you like your food stay away

My main issue to be honest is the quality of the food provided for lunch and dinner, breakfast was nothing special but was more than acceptable. I am a big foodie so know what I am talking about. Overall it was the execution of the dishes that made the food mediocre. An example was Asian night (Friday) the spare ribs overcooked / tasteless, spring rolls and samosas hard / tasteless. I don’t want to hear that it’s All Inclusive so the quantity suffers , I have been to bigger hotels AI which were far better, bottom line it’s unlikely I will be back or recommend to anyone….everything else was as it should be!!

Gran Oasis Resort, Tenerife-

The level of service from staff has decreased in my opinion compared to my two previous stay at this resort. Two female reception staff, l found unhelpful and unwelcoming. A restaurant staff (Jose M) refused to clear my plate - my ethnicity is black british. The cleaners and male reception staff were fantastic. The rooms were clean, no iron in the room and l requested one from the female reception staff but it was undelivered.

Great array of food and drink, friendly staff and kids entertainment… highly recommend

Really enjoyed our time here. The all inclusive was perfect for us with 3 kids. It meant they could go and help themselves to snacks and mocktails and slushes whenever they fancied during the day. We rarely left the resort and when we did we fitted it round meal times as there was so much on offer. The majority of food was delicious with a huge array of options. Different themed dinners each night was a bonus. The drinks on offer were plenty with local beer being Dorada and local Sangria and an array of all inclusive cocktails. Certain extra cocktails came at a price but we didn’t need them. The kids mini disco was a huge hit with the kids as was the kids entertainment during the day. Although it states you can’t drop and leave we happily let our kids run off to the activities whilst we lounged nearby. The entertainment staff were a huge credit to the hotel.they were attentive, caring, kind and made a real effort to remember all the kids names. Three pools to choose from were perfect for a varied ages of children in our group. Just be careful in the floor when wet as you could deck it. The foam party on Wednesdays was a huge hit as was the daily aqua fit. The staff were super friendly and were really welcoming to the kids. Always praising them when they tried to speak a bit of Spanish if only to tell them our room number in Spanish. The room was clean and we had an abundance of towels as well as our pool towels provided. The steep marble steps in the room could prove slightly dangerous with young kids, we just made sure to lay a bench across it at nighttime to prevent any unwanted walking round from our kids and potential accidents. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent hotel

Excellent hotel. Lovely hardworking, polite and helpful staff. The duplex suites (all are duplex from what we could see) were roomy, with two levels. One level with bathroom, large bedroom (with tv- with bbc and itv)and patio with sun loungers. The upstairs had a kitchen, large lounge (with tv)and balcony.
Cleaners came in everyday.
We stayed all inclusive. The food was excellent and we thought there was a good variety.
We were able to use Wi-Fi anywhere within the resort, including our apartment.
There was entertainment throughout the day for adults (if they wanted to join in) and for children.
The evening entertainment was enjoyable and started with inclusive awards for the children whether or not they had participated in the games during the day.
All in all it was a great resort. The only thing that spoilt it was the rude guests, who would get up at the crack of dawn and put their towels on the best sun beds.
I would recommend that the hotel advise guests on arrival to the hotel, that they are not allowed to lay their towels on the beds before 9am, unless they are going to lay on them. Often the beds lay empty, with towels on, until late morning.

Cheat

Overall, it was okay considering we are in Africa, however, you were treated badly by the barman, who in the end wants money/gift from us, which should not happen in an all inclusive hotel at all - We ended up after 2 days of not appearing up there as we didn't care about them. The food was boring and dry and you would think the food had been standing for a month. The internet in the hotel is free and 5 out of 5 stars, but there is no internet in the rooms, even though they have written there is internet. Unfortunately, imagine someone would have to think that the internet is worse than themselves and just the idea that you will be an ass everywhere is something I do not recommend. Thats something we had experienced with friends.

Lovely hotel - Awful “all exclusive”

Lovely hotel - be aware if you’re all inclusive, “bar snacks” consist of 10hr stale chicken nuggets, burger and chips that nobody touches. “All exclusive” means you need to go the shop and spend €20 a time when feeling peckish unless is 1pm or dinner time. They don’t refresh their “snacks” and no body at the bar does anything about it. The all exclusive drinks make you write a great review though.

Not a four star hotel

This hotel is not four stars. The interior is nice - not as pretty as in the photos - but overall the design of the hotel and the rooms were a 4 star standard. The pool area is far too small and we had to take our luggage by ourselves with three small children after a long flight through people in their swimsuits and slippery floor to our rooms which initially were hard to find. This part was not that professional. Overall the staff attitude was amazing and everyone was very welcoming and professional. Room cleaning was very mediocre and they would only change our sheets when we asked them - and with small children they get dirty quickly. They changed our pool towels once! You have TO PAY to get your towels changed - even though this is meant to be ALL INCLUSIVE. You also have TO PAY FOR A MOJITO! You also have to pay for a bottle of water after you have had your complimentary bottle in your fridge. This is not an all inclusive hotel - I don't care what they claim it's just not. Also there were cockroaches in the bathroom from time to time - although you cant really blame the hotel for that. My biggest complaint would be the food. Same thing for breakfast everyday - a low standard english breakfast buffet. The only things I could say I really liked was the mushroom sauce and surprisingly the sushi when they made it once. They also dont salt anything - very annoying. And you eat food from trays as if you are in school again. This honestly just made me feel very stupid. Final thing, the company that this hotel attracts were not very civilised- people constantly waking us up with their drunken shouts, the family next to me put their husband not he balcony to sleep and several people made complaints about it to the point security had to give him a warning for all the noise he was making. Some people kept ringing at my parents room in the middle of the night all drunk which is obviously very annoying to be woken up especially when you have toddlers that need sleep! This isn't necessarily the hotels fault but that just shows you the kind of people that stay here. All in all the hotel was alright - compared to other hotels Ive been to it was not very good but for those people that like the chavy atmosphere and who dont go on many holidays then this will be alright for you. It's just not a four star hotel - ITS THREE!
