Absolutely avoid this company.

I paid Gravel Base £107.52 upfront for a bulk bag order that never arrived. I was then emailed and told the failed delivery was because my phone had supposedly been “off” when transport tried to call me… I had a missed call at 1.30pm from Huw Grays.

Concerned by the conflicting information, I contacted Huws Gray directly myself. They told me the delivery had not gone ahead because the order had not been paid for by Gravelbase. They also confirmed Gravel Base do not even hold a trade account with them, meaning the supplier cost was effectively the same retail price available to me directly — around £52 plus VAT and delivery — yet I had been charged £107.52.

So not only did the order fail to arrive, but I was also given contradictory explanations and charged massively over the actual supplier price.

I have now requested a full refund and no longer wish to deal with the company at all.

Very poor experience, misleading communication and zero confidence in the business.

Ordered 50 bags of pea gravel paid Monday said it would be delivered Friday , emailed several times to ask was delivery morning or afternoon and phones several times only to get answer machine and emails returned at start stating trying to get hold of haulier but unfortunately I never received the goods when stated ,, communication was not good a guy called Ben replied to emails but not very convincing so contacted credit card company for and requested refund under section 75 which was honoured immediately as I did not receive goods ,Be warned if ordering from here make sure any purchase is over £100 for your protection ,better paying a bit more and having a proper service I’ve done this already and gravel is coming on Thursday

Good stone at a reasonable price. They went the extra mile for a complex delivery to a difficult area.

Excellent communication, delivered speedily, no problems at all - recommended without hesitation.

First order I received was incorrect and a pain in order to rectify. I gave Gravelbase another chance with my second order as I originally never purchased enough materials and this was totally missed until I emailed requesting an update five days later. Would not recommend unless you like nuisance included with your order.

I recently ordered some decorative gravels off of Gravel Base to be delivered to my home and the process was seamless throughout. The wide variety of stones offered online was impressive as well. I was kept well informed on the status of my order all the way up to receiving it on the scheduled day. I would 10/10 use Gravel Base again.

Ordered last weekend and got confirmation of order/money being taken on Monday.
Then silence. Nothing. No email no delivery date - nothing. Phoned for update on Thursday - had to leave message on answerphone. No response. Phoned again Friday - again had to leave message. Did get call back from “Ben” who said that he was told the pallet had gone onto a lorry on Thursday but wasn’t delivered. Promised he’d find out what was happening and call me back. Guess what - no call, no delivery- no use!
Phoned chasing update - but guess what got their answerphone AGAIN.
Going into second weekend and no sign of any progress. How difficult is it to give a basic service - rhetorical question, because clearly far too difficult for these guys. AVOID!

The people at Gravelbase are very helpful, responsive and honest. There was misunderstanding from their side in regards to price and without quibbling they honoured the quote, which I must say when the goods came was top quality. I am a real consumer who felt compelled to write this due to the service received.

I ordered two dumpy bags of Pea gravel for a new garden path. I discussed my requirements with gravelbase who gave me good advice about the size and quantity needed and the price was right. My order was delivered on time by a cheerful chappie who placed the bags over my garden wall exactly where I wanted them. I would recommend this company to anyone needing an efficient, professional response

Had a delivery of nice looking chippings today to perk my driveway up-they really look the part. Good price aswell which was a bonus. Customer service was good and the driver was really helpful- happy too which is becoming a rarity!! Doing the back garden next so will use again
