The service I paid for was for you to…

The service I paid for was for you to submit my song to multiple playlists.

It was not to send to members of your team for feedback.

I don't need feedback as this is a track that is successful and has amassed around 500k streams and was the standout track on an album with over 2 miilion streams and 2000 cd sales.
Music is subjective and I don't care what your team think as what's to say they are rock music fans !

The email response they sent is not worth $17.00.

You deliberately mislead about the service you provide by listing high listener figures for a series of curators.

I was paying to submit to curators, not for A&R feedback.

This is fraudulent, misleading selling of a fake service. I would like my money back.

Hi Nick,
We’re sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with our service.

To clarify, our service involves submitting tracks to independent curators listed on our website. These curators provide playlist consideration and, when a track is not accepted, offer feedback, which our A&R team compiles and shares directly with artists. All the feedback you received came straight from the curators themselves. We clearly outline this process on our website and in our FAQs to ensure transparency.

As you mentioned, music is subjective, and our curators have full discretion to accept or decline tracks based on their preferences (like every other submission platform out there). We’ve also been super transparent about how the service works, including a clear disclaimer before payment.

That said, we genuinely hate seeing artists dissatisfied and we'd love the opportunity to resolve this. Please feel free to reach out to us at support@greaserelease.co

Not worth it

Breaking down the cost per curator:

$17 / 8 curators = $2.13 per curator

So the submission cost is roughly the same as sites like Submithub, but with those sites you can choose to target only the most relevant curators, whereas here it's a package deal.

I got accepted by only one playlist, LazyFrenzy's "give me some space." The playlist has 52,000 saves on Spotify. This placement translated to a grand total of 41 streams for my song. That's negligible.

Breaking down the cost per stream:

$17 / 41 streams = $0.41 per stream

That's too expensive. It's cheaper to make your own playlist and advertise it yourself. It will cost you less per stream and you have more control over the genre and which other artists to associate with.

So this isn't entirely an indictment of Greaserelease specifically, but the whole pay-to-submit playlisting model. In my view, it's not worth it. My best playlisting results have actually come from free sites. But the most impactful place to place efforts for me has been social media like TikTok.

In conclusion, my result was not impactful, and the cost for the result was poor.

GreaseRelease offer more than expected...

Great site where reviewers offer first class advice and knowledge on your original songs with the added opportunity to be placed on high quality playlists. Couldn't expect more. Would be more than happy to use this service again in future.

"I submitted my new song 'Reptilian Attack' to Greaserelease, and within a few days, they delivered on their promise by adding it to a big, genre-fitting playlist. The process was straightforward, and they truly came through. Highly recommended for artists looking to get their music heard!"

Greaserelease is a full-blown scam

I want to express my deep disappointment with the experience I had using this platform. I recently decided to invest $17 in your service, hoping it would provide a genuine opportunity to promote my music. While this may seem like a small amount, it was an initial test payment to evaluate how your system works and determine whether it would be worth investing more in future campaigns.

However, what I received was far from what I expected. After a few days, I received very brief and generic feedback, mostly consisting of positive phrases with very little constructive criticism. The few criticisms I did receive were completely generic and seemed like "copy-paste" feedback, with no real analysis or personal insight into my track. Additionally, my song was not selected for any of the offered campaigns.

One of the reasons for my disappointment is that your website clearly states that if a track is not selected, a refund will be issued. This was not the case, and instead, I received an impersonal response full of repetitive, pre-written phrases. While it may be your policy not to offer refunds once a response has been sent, this should be clearly communicated before an artist spends money on your service. It's essential for musicians to know in advance that even if we're not selected and we only receive automated responses with generic phrases, no refund will be issued.

At this point, I believe this is a full-blown scam. I was genuinely considering investing much more in future campaigns, but after this experience, I feel it would be money totally wasted. It's better to invest in other platforms that offer better results and a more transparent, fair approach to independent artists.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend your platform to other musicians. #Scam #Disappointment #NotRecommended #FullBlownScam

Hey,

We’d like to clarify our refund policy. We only issue refunds if the curators fail to respond within 7 days, as stated in our FAQs and in the disclaimer right before you make the payment. We've been very clear about how our service works from the start.

All the feedback you received was straight from the curators but we're sorry for any inconvenience caused, and we’d love to resolve this. Our team has reached out to you via email, so please give it a look when you can. Thank you!

I feel cheated

From my experience do not spend your money on this site. I received an email in which they talked about Spotify and its advertising campaigns. By mistake I thought it was a company recognized by Spotify, so I decided to invest the 17 US dollars. After a few days I received the comments, only a few brief lines saying giving some positive details, and very little in the negative, however my track was not chosen. I sent them two emails, one to where they responded to me and another to the support service. The support never responded, the other email did telling me that these are the conditions. It is very hard for independent artists, it is difficult to promote our music and one feels cheated. I don't recommend it at all

Hi Gabriel,

We never mentioned that we're affiliated with Spotify, we only work with curators that run playlists on Spotify. We've never given that idea to our audience and as far as I know, none of the playlist submission platforms out there are affiliated with Spotify.

I also checked out the feedback our curators sent over to you and it was fairly detailed.
However, we're sorry for the experience you had and we hate seeing dissatisfied artists. Please send us an email at support@greaserelease.co and we'd love to resolve this!

Horrendous

I found the delay in receiving feedback disappointing. When it finally arrived, I was disheartened to read only a brief note stating, 'This song is not the genre we are looking for.' It would be helpful if your website specified the genres you are interested in. I have requested a refund, but unfortunately, I have yet to receive a response and probably never will.

Hi,

We checked out the feedback our curators sent over to you and they've mentioned things like the mix being oversaturated and clipping in a few regions along with the track not fitting the vibe of their playlists

In our opinion, the feedback was fairly detailed and we've clearly mentioned all the curators and links to their playlists on our website as well, we've been extremely transparent about that. However, we're sorry for the experience you had. Please send us an email at support@greaserelease.co and we'd love to resolve this!

very short feedback

A bittersweet experience. I've been reading the newsletter for over a year and finally decided to submit a song, expecting a review more than a placement, as I know I have a lot to improve. But I was really looking forward to that review, to know what I needed to work on.
And for 17$, I feel like 3 sentences of feedback is a bit short. I'm lost as to what to do to improve, so it's useless for me at the end of the day.

Seriously, 222 characters to tell me what's wrong, that's not even a tweet :/

EDIT: I was able to talk to the founder who, whilst not giving more feedback, was able to refund a part of the fee, which honestly makes it more acceptable. So more stars from me I guess.

Groover is more honest.

I'm giving you 2 stars because you did say a few nice things about my track. Here's where I have a problem. For most of the negative reviews your response is we sent your track and no playlisters picked it up. I get that. Payola is against the rules. But in your response you said your a&r department decided my track wasn't good enough. You didn't even send my track. You brag that you have so many playlisters for so many genres. And you sent my track to no one. If I was someone who at least had a chance I'd be ok. But you personally decided no one would like it. I sent you 2 tracks and you did the same thing both times. If you really gave it a chance and you really had that many varied playlisters someone would have played my song. And by the way. Groover doesnt decide whether a song gets sent. The playlisters hear the song and decide for themselves. Much more honest!

Hi Jonathan,

Like we've mentioned in the FAQs, the feedback you receive is always from the curators themselves, the A&R team only collates the feedback and sends it over to the artist. We can assure you that your track was sent to all the curators on our network. Feel free to get in touch with any of the curators and they'll tell you that your track was given a proper listen.

Regardless, we're sorry for the experience you had and we'd love to resolve this. Please send us an email at support@greaserelease.co

$17 for a piece of feedback

$17 for a piece of feedback. Won’t use again. My song’s been picked up by 28 other independent playlist curators in a span of the same week of sending to GreaseRelease. I understand that they said they don’t guarantee placements. I’m just saying it’s not worth the money for my experience. I’d reach out to ask if the customer had another song they could place, or specify what kind of music they are likely to place

Hey Amy,

We mentioned that we can't guarantee placements in our FAQs and even put up a disclaimer stating the same right before you made the payment.

We sent your track to all the curators on our network and unfortunately, they declined it. Guaranteeing placements is illegal and against Spotify's TOS (Payola). We feel this review is a bit unfair considering we've mentioned how this service works from the start.
