Extremely well organised trip which enabled us to have a brilliant holiday where we didn't have to worry about anything

I would recommend this company/holiday. The scenery was beautiful and guide was very helpful - nothing was too much. All in all, it was a very enjoyable holiday.

Great tour with an experienced tour manager. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Very enjoyable holiday with great experiences. Not too impressed with the Blair Atholl hotel. Bed quite uncomfortable. Lots of stairs to top floor bedroom! Looks nice though & a convenient location although nowhere nearby to eat out in the evening on a ‘free’ evenings apart from the bar at the hotel.

The experience was let down by the standard of hotel, could not fault the tour guide who made the experience memorable.

Lovely, relaxing holiday with lots of spectacular scenery and nostalgic railway journeys.

The title is misleading. More like a coach tour with some railway trips. Hotel accommodation was shoddy. Schedule was poorly designed. Some of the timings were baffling. Tour guide did a really super job of making the best of what she was given.

We thoroughly enjoyed the trip, starting in Edinburgh, with a delicious dinner at the Toll Booth. The Atholl Arms Hotel was a Lovely base with excellent service and top quality food. The tour manager was excellent and kept everything running smoothly.

The itinerary for this tour was over-ambitious. The distances covered on most days were too big to allow sufficient time at different places especially Stirling and Blair Castle in particular; not enough time was factored in for lunch - often it was a choice between lunch or a mini-explore.

Overall disappointing. Both hotels on the trip were just about adequate. The feel of the trip was that it was budget based and not sufficient time allocated for the interesting stops. Some of the routes were unnecessarily drawn out and the return trip to Edinburgh very uncomfortable and bizarre as there was a direct train without changing. A beautiful area with incredible scenery and history but a poorly planned trip.

Good trip itinerary. Need hotels above 3star. Blair Atholl hotel too far from a town. Not suitable for elderly lady on own. Too far to nearest pub/restaurant when dinner not provided. We were left without transport from Blair Castle to Hotel. Too far to walk, except for one young couple. One teenage server at Castle took 25mins.from village to castle. Falkirk canal wheel took far too long, waiting on hot barge. Not enough time at Stirling to visit castle etc.. All evening meals should be provided, even if price of holiday increases.

Overall a great holiday but a little rushed. Slightly better organisation could have overcome the rushing.

Fantastic and full to the brim with great experiences. All well organised.

A really enjoyable holiday looked after by Alex our tour guide in the Scottish Highlands, travelling on steam trains and visiting some lovely landmarks in the Highlands.

Overall loved the journey and all we did. I would have preferred to be staying in Pitlochry rather than Blair Athol, where there would have been more options in the evenings for food and entertainment. Apart from that - thought everything was great.

Much was fabulous - including the tour manager, Gordon, who dealt with a number of things beyond GRJ control - fire and flood - with aplomb. The only thing which slightly let the experience down was the hotel - the staff were great but would describe the hotel itself as a tad tatty.

Despite changes made because of the very dry conditions, we had a great time, partly due to our courier being adaptable to the circumstances.

Had a great holiday with a lovely group of people. Due to fire risk no steam engines allowed but didn’t spoil holiday. Early starts each day in order to travel to planned destinations. My hotel room was very dated and hot,no fan available. Food and service was excellent. Tour guide Gordon was very knowledgeable and friendly. He ensured that everyone was having a good time.
