Lived up to my expectations. have already booked another holiday with GTJ for next year. Beautiful Hotel. All excursions were as promised and Caz our rep perfectly guided us every step of the way. As a solo traveller for this trip I felt very at ease with the group of 30. Loved Grasse for the perfume, Cannes, Monaco, Eze and St Paul de Vance are all beautiful and plenty of time to jump on the train to visit Nice or Antibes.
Magical, beautiful coastline the hotel was full of character and the staff so welcoming. It was a really enjoyable holiday
Enjoyed our trip very much, Trevor was an excellent GR Manager , always helpful and polite with everybody, but we would have to say it is not 1st Class , trains all good, but snacks/ meals only included on route from London - Paris and Paris London, not on eurostar journey. Hotel comfortable and lovely staff, but rooms etc adequate, but need updating if it is to be called a 1st class holiday
5star rating.Excellent organisation, travel arrangements, hotel, food, and most attentive tour guide (Trevor). A little tiring at times, with the amount of uphill walking required.
I really enjoyed this highly organised trip with a superb tour manager, Trevor. The hotel was delightful, the staff were super helpful, friendly and just lovely. It provided the right pace of visits, free time, travel time and tours. Highly recommend Le Petit Train ride around Cannes.
Lovely hotel in Cannes (Le Cavendish). Lovely room in a great location . Train travel was good, on time. A nice variety of trips. In all an excellent holiday with GRJ.
Very competent guide. Wide ranging choice of tours and good amount of free time too. Hotel superb and venue for suppers excellent when we went as a group.
This is my 4th trip with GRJ which I really enjoyed. With excellent organisation from Head Office staff through to our lovely tour manager who's knowledge of the venue's and history was super. The hotel provides a lovely breakfast, although you do have to pay for a cooked breakfast. And the 2 hours of Happy Hour is excellent with wines and various soft drinks provided. The hotel is small in area's, but the staff are wonderful and very friendly. The Rotheschild Villa and gardens was stunning and a real highlight. The tour around Cannes I would advise you to pay to go on the train which you get to see the whole front of Cannes and up to the top. Out of our group only 8 walked including myself which is a tough uphill climb the rest of the group when on the train which they all agreed was excellent. So on the free day I went on the train. Which was much better way to tour Cannes. We also went to St Tropez on our day off by Ferry. This was about 1 hour journey, but the views were amazing and a lovely way to spend the day.
Excellent. Our hotel was exceptional, the location was perfect for the shops, restaurants and the beach. Our tour guide Marta was excellent and she looked after us with very good humour and patience and she made sure that we all had a very enjoyable holiday.
A very enjoyable holiday. Basically, it does what it says on the tin. Just what I expected and just what I wanted.

A well planned holiday with a good balance of organised excursions and free time. The tour leader provided detailed information on excursions and a range of suggestions for free time for those who wanted it . The hotel is very pleasant. A very enjoyable experience.
Excellent hotel ,Simon our tour guide was so helpful in sorting out rail problems ie cancelled Eurostar impending French rail strikes Excursions were a bit close together and sadly due to BH in France traffic was bad so travel a bit longer than expected ..Pleasant group and fun evenings at the restaurant booked by GRJ.Would recommend.
My recent holiday to the French Riviera with Great Rail Journeys was fantastic. Our guide Simon was great, thoroughly professional and capable. The tour was so well presented and thought out it made it a great experience. I can't thank them enough.
Very knowledgeable and caring tour leader. Good hotel {apart from the elevator} plenty of interesting places to visit with good transport connections.
Wonderful to be in the South of France. Holiday was very rushed and climbing Everest in and out of coaches every day didn't do the knees much good. Hotel good with marvellous view from bedroom window. Breakfast specular. However, as mentioned to GRJ, we were extremely disappointed that by booking early we lost out by several hundred pounds by not booking much later and taking advantage of the huge drop in prices. Tour Manager was excellent.
