We had an excellent tour manager in Susan who ensired everything went smoothly and safely for us. She had a lovely personality. The itinerary was varied and the journey on the Centri Valli train was magical.

Really enjoyed our holiday but would suggest you consider the following tweaks.Colmar was beautiful but we arrived late afternoon tired from an early start in the UK so didnt feel like walking back into the town after dinner which was a shame becaus ethe guide told us it was even more picturesque at night. Also Dijon on the return journey is a lovely city but again we arrived late afternoon and we were off again the next morning. Consider anight less in Stresa and two nights in Dijon.Finally the walk to the restaurant in Dijon was too far from the hotel many guests wondered how they would find their way back.Also despite having pre ordered our meals prior to the holiday it appeared they didnt know what had been ordered
Wonderful holiday travelling from London by train. Beautiful scenery enjoyed from 1st class seats! Lake Maggiore was stunning, Stresa was lovely and the Regina Palace Hotel was amazing. Having a tour guide to organise all the trips and sort any issues made it all a really relaxing, enjoyable holiday to remember. Will definitely be going on another Great Rail Journeys holiday and thoroughly recommend.
Susan Griffin was an excellent leader who managed ac large group of 30 with humour and patience. The hotel was excellent with fine attentive staff but the decor was a little "over the top". The restaurant in Dijon was not a success and needs changing for future tours and the wine tasting experience was a little amateur. I am sure a slicker venue could be found. Stresa and the lake and the islands were magical. A lovely holiday
Although things didn’t run very smoothly on our outward journey it was dealt with promptly by our experienced professional tour guide. Hotel, trips and journey home were all well organised and a joy.
Excellent holiday, but would have preferred outings not to have been on consecutive days or day after travel. Our Tour Manager John was excellent nothing too much trouble always good humoured .

Travel arrangements were excellent, Tour Manager exceptional, Hotels were central with good facilities, scenery fantastic. A great holiday.
Positives: Well organised, good tour manager who integrated well with participants, interesting excursions, very good hotel in Stresa with good facilities, journeys out and back from London well structured. Stresa a really nice location with plenty to do, interesting islands in easy reach from Stresa, nice atmosphere, good shops and plenty of restaurants. Negatives: Hotel for first stop in Colmar sub standard in both quality of accommodation and food provided, final night meal in Dijon slightly chaotic with restaurant not providing food pre-ordered and staff a bit disinterested. Great Rail Journeys aware of all these points and will no doubt rectify
Our tour manager, Paul, Robson was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was lovely and the included tours were enjoyable. A truly stella holiday
This was our first experience with Great Rail Journeys and we were impressed from start to finish . Booking was easy and straightforward with good communication throughout , any queries regarding the booking were dealt with in a friendly manner . The trip itself was stress free and enjoyable. For us as a couple in our sixties it was great to have everything organised and taken care of for us which made for a most relaxing holiday . We will definitely book again ! Our tour manager Paul Robson was extremely efficient and smoothed out any issues discretely and efficiently and was also fantastic company.
Nice trip,nice hotel,nice people
Hotel and lake view very good. Unfortunately the failure on one of the return train journeys to secure a forward facing seat for my wife was disappointing. She spent the journey kneeling on her rear facing seat to avoid projectile vomiting which is why at least one forward facing seat was requested.
