The trip and organisation was excellent. The hotel was in a good place and the food was very good. Liked being able to choose the packed lunch. Some of the regional trains were not as on time as you might expect but overall, we saw a lot and had free time too.
The tour was very well run and we had a very good guide named Irene. The trips out were good but German trains arrive when they feel like it! The hotel was very well placed but we were disappointed in the all inclusive food and drink package. The food is basic with not much choice. The starter was always soup or the salad bar which never changed. The dessert was the same every night- a sloppy sort of mousse or ice cream. Getting our drinks ordered and brought over was a challenge even though it was all paid for in advance. Definitely go for a room upgrade if you can as the Garden room on the 4th floor was worth the extra cost.
A pleasant area to explore, and plenty of places to travel by train, with Boppard train station just over the road from the hotel. Hotel rooms were adequate, though lacked proper ventilation. But hotel was let down by quality of food, and table service. The travel during the tour was let down by almost all trains being late, and overcrowded.

We enjoyed our holiday. Room was more for a one or two night stay, with no mini fridge, safe , kettle or even a set of draws, but very clean, and staff were lovely and the garden lovely too.
Excellent value with the added bonus of a superb courier.We were lucky to have the hotel we stayeld in,food wonderfull very clean anf friendly staff.The only criticism was the big edroom was tiny ,no cupboard space and bathroom was tiny.All in all we intend using this company again and would definitely recommend the holiday .
Experience was good, tours also. The hotel was very clean, lovely area unfortunately the rooms were for overnight/short stays. the clothes area was very small and inside the shower/toilet room!!
A wonderful holiday in which everything in the itinerary worked out just fine; thanks to our tour manager Jane who made sure all went according to plan. Suffice to say we’ve had the hot weather that week so we made sure to keep hydrated throughout, always key!
Great holiday. Well paced
An excellent holiday; we were well looked after by the leader. A comfortable hotel with excellent food.There was plenty to see on our excursions, including the Rhine and the Vulcan Express. On our free day we went to Bad Ems, a small retreat to the east of Koblenz, once a destination for Europe's rulers.We also had an interesting trip to Koblenz, where we visited the castle, at the end of a cable way. I could also mention the weather, which was truly excellent!
This was a great holiday. Everything was organised and we had good information about the itinerary and any other instructions from GRJ. The itinerary also allowed us to do our own thing as we had free time/days with suggestions made of places to see and go. Excellent tour guide who absolutely made it his top priority that all of us were informed, safe, on time, and happy. Hotel great, clean and comfortable, food choices (fully inclusive with packed lunches provided) and staff all super especially in the restaurant. We had a great group of fellow travellers, meeting folk from all over. We will be going on another one for sure.
We had a wonderful holiday. There was a good balance between organised activities and entertaining ourselves. We visited some interesting places and some beautiful scenery. The hotel was very good, as was the food, and the tour manager did a fantastic job. I would recommend this holiday
Excellent trip enjoyable excursions and a knowledgeable tour guide
After many years of usually independent travel, this was my first trip with GRJ. Mostly efficient organisation, an attractive and interesting area, a good hotel, a varied programme, a friendly group, an excellent tour manager.
Boppard is a great centre for the Middle Rhine. The hotel on the riverfront was comfortable with good service and reasonable food.
Really enjoyable trip. Good company, good food, great scenery.
All in all an enjoyable holiday. From leaving St Pancras to arriving back at St Pancras. Thank you GRJ.

This is the first occasion that we have traveled with Great Rail Journeys, on the whole an excellent experience with all parts except one well executed and planned. We used the luggage forwarding service which was invaluable. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful. Dealing with a number of issues with local rail timetables with great tenacity and skill. The customer service end to end was seamless and excellent. Highly recommended.

A very interesting rail tour which also includes a trip down the Rhine on the 1913 paddle steamer Goethe. Good accommodation right next to the river with nice food and drinks in the evening. The Eurostar experience was a first for us and very enjoyable.

The vulcan trip wasnt worth the effort of going on it the rest of the holiday was worthwhile ,we enjoyed it
