A brilliant holiday experience with an excellent guide that made sure every element of our holiday was covered. As our holiday involved lots of train travel across France and Switzerland it was great to be able to enjoy the experience knowing someone else was ensuring everything went to plan. I cannot praise our guide enough, she was brilliant and the company had ensured we got to see all the best locations. Five stars!
This holiday, my 2nd with GRJ, was every bit as good from the point of view of the arrangements ie choice of locations, the variety of travel types, and the excellent tour manager. I was hugely impressed by the grandeur of the Swiss mountains but this became even more so when the local guide for the day in Zermatt explained the history of skiing options and climbing exploits. I still marvel at the mountain railways. So a wonderful experience

Excellent tour manager! Two hotels great one disappointing! Excessive time spent on trains resulting in antisocial eating times! Two hotels too far from station to easily pull suitcases! Scenery fantastic but an exhausting trip

A great experience
The Glacier Express & the Bernina Express were both good day trips, there were 5 other days which involved being sat on the floor in railway stations waiting for trains and transfers. Trains were always really busy & sometimes you couldnt get a seat. If you need to take a large suitcase you will struggle.
Fantastic scenery would like to see it in autumn
We had wonderful experience with Great Rail Journeys and the Highlights of the Glacier Express. Switzerland and it's mountains are truly breathtaking. Our tour guide, Liz, was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, helpful and very organised; ensuring all travel days ran smoothly and offering suggestions and advice for non travel days. The group we travelled with were lovely, very kind and supportive which helps on busy travel days and good company, which further made this trip a memorable experience. The itinerary is busy, but well thought out. Perhaps an earlier start in London would allow for a more relaxed afternoon/ evening in Strasbourg. The hotels chosen were all clean and comfortable, with friendly and helpful staff. Will hopefully travel with Great Rail Journeys again in the future and have wonderful memories of this trip.
Excellent scenery and great visit, but the first couple of days were extremely tiring as we had to carry our cases wherever we were headed. Complete lack of transfers from railway stations to hotels that were some distance apart.

Well organised - lots of rail journeys! Strasbourg was delightful and we could have stayed longer! Highlight of the trip was Zermatt. Amazing views of the Matterhorn from Zermatt, Gornergrat railway and Glacier Paradise. The tour was organised friendly and we would highly recommend it and Great Rail journeys.
Some avoidable operational issues but the overall holiday experience was great.
A fantastic holiday. I have dropped a single star because, the distance of the hotels from the stations is excessive when the majority of clients are elderly and carrying luggage.

A lot of time on a train. Tour guide was not very good. He was rude obnoxious from the outset and near the end asked everyone for a tip. We were not told that the hotels do not have air conditioning. The food choices were limited. Company obviously save money by housing you in a smaller City and not where the action was. A lot of walking over cobblestone with luggage. No services for fellow handicap travelers.
A poor experience, with misleading info about the amount of walking involved and a poor tour manager. I’ve already submitted a more detailed review. Please let me know that you’ve received it. Joan Giles
