Well led and organised trip through France, Spain and Portugal. We packed so much in the two weeks, and although there were numerous organised excursions, we had plenty of time to explore on our own. This was our 5th GRJ trip and certainly not our last.
Every day had something new, excellent local guides keen to answer all our questions and sufficient free time and flexibility for each of us in the group to pursue our own interests . John, our tour manager was very attentive to the needs of each group member and his excellent organisation kept us clearly informed of the programme for every day. We had the best hotels and restaurant meals. Overall, good value for money

This is a wonderful holiday. We went to some fantastic places and it was well organised from the very beginning.

Some lovely historical architecture & beautiful scenery. The selection of hotels were of a good standard & some great facilities. Tour was very busy.
A great holiday, with excellent hotels , outstanding breakfasts, lots of interesting experiences, good included meals- if rather late at night for our tastes! The whole tour was well planned and paced, and enhanced by a great group of people and a superb tour manager!

A pretty perfect tour!
Thanks to Andy, our guide, who, with kindly efficiency, saw us on and off 14 trains and 20 coaches, and into and out of 7 hotels (figures not checked for accuracy), we had a fabulous holiday. This was not our first Great Rail holiday and it won’t be the last.
Excellent trip, very well organised headed by an extremely competent and knowledgeable tour guide. Whole trip could not be faulted.

Excellent holiday experience. Food choices were somewhat restricted but overall very good
Great itinerary, brilliant tour manager, top hotels and meals. Travel was easy and well organised
We saw a lot of lovely countryside. Most hotels were good. Timings of some trains and connections could have been better. A treat laid on was good but getting there not!! I wonder who does the research beforehand

The holiday did what it said on the tin! It provided great travel to interesting places we had not visited before, complemented by some excellent excursions. Hotels were first class, and catering excellent.

Wonderful views of the Duoro valley from the train
Very poor organisation, planning and management from GRJ. Travel badly planned and 45% of the trip ended up being by coach not rail because of this. Also some travel downgraded from 1st to standard class. In many places no guide provided and Tour Manager had not done the tour before, nor knew the places so could not provide any knowledge. Also inability to support a diabetic diet, despite assurances in advance. Meals in the main are fixed with no choice. We did see some nice scenery, visited some interesting places and met some nice people. However, the daily problems, caused a frustration and stress throughout and having discussed as a group, many of whom have done many of these holidays before, the majority are unhappy with the experience and service
