Well organised interesting programme
Wonderful holiday
This trip was all it promised to be and more! As well as a well planned and relaxing holiday, we got to know a number of lovely passengers and were in awe of the friendly, patient and efficient staff. I am hoping to book my fifth trip with GRJ soon.
Overall a very enjoyable cruise. Bill Sanderson, who escorted us to and from the ship, was very efficient. Cabin was well-appointed and clean, though an occasional smell of drains from the shower. Food was mostly excellent with the odd shortage, eg orange juice at breakfast. Trips were very enjoyable with well- informed guides, though mostly early morning starts! It was a pity that the top deck was closed much of the time, especially as the weather was so hot, and we were not able to make use of it as much as on previous cruises.
Good tour itinerary, excellent food and comfortable cabin with attentive cheerful crew and waiters.

Did not meet expectations. Cruise was poor when on board boat. Food was only OK and at times poor. Wine was average. Ran out of draft beer. Staff partied till 2.30 in the morning and kept half the ship awake. Trip to Beaune did not include the most important building in the town. Wine tasting in a shop can be done in the UK. Noisy air conditioning. No travel options given although they were available. Travel host on rail did not speak French !!

Very disappointed with meal time arrangements. It was a bunch of fight most days and not what expected . Quality of food poor for a vegetarian. Out tour transfer guide was brilliant Francesca . She’s a real people person and should be commended. I won’t do another river cruise based on this experience however.

Overall very good, however we suffered from a lack of continuity in the people leading the group. I don't feel it's suitable for the tour guide to leave the ship and go back home. We were in the hands of the crew and, while they were very good and well intentioned, they didn't know us as the tour guides have done on previous land based trips I've been on with you. As someone travelling solo, it would have made a huge difference for all the solos to be introduced to each other - how else to spot someone you can sit with without intruding on another couple ot group? It took several days to get to know some of the other solos. Being put together and with the tour guide on the first night dinner would have made us feel welcome. Several of the others were complaining about this as well
It was a most enjoyable holiday. The Amadeus Provence was very comfortable, with friendly and helpful staff and excellent food. Our tour managers, Ian and Neal, were first rate,taking good care of us and ensuring that all the excursions went smoothly. My experience of the local guides was good. my only criticism would be that we had a number of early starts. I would have preferred a slightly more leisurely breakfast!
The trips out were really interesting. The cruise food was not very good for me as a vegan with some other intolerances. The lowest level of room was noisy and minimal.
Excellent trip ship & crew brilliant in every aspect. Didn’t want to go home !
An Excellent trip let down by the food service (the food itself was excellent) & the fact that the sun deck was closed more often than it was open to cater for the low bridges we encountered - shame!
An amazing holiday with so many fascinating places to visit. Five star accommodation and delicious food, an expert tour director and lively, knowledgeable guides made this an outstanding holiday.
Excellent organisation of trip from start to finish. All trains ran perfectly to time outbound and inbound. Coach transfers prompt and speedy. Beautiful river boat with a smart very clean cabin. Superb shore trips with guides every day inclusive of price. Superb breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very enjoyable river cruise all round.
Enjoyable Holiday. Shame about GRJ’s Pricing Policy. Never ever book early with them as the cost of the cruise, we found, was discounted by over 40% (£3,700.00) 6 months later.
