I enjoyed my stay on the Outer Hebrides.. One very big disappointment was the sea eagle safari. We went on a RIB not a stable more safe boat. The RIB is suitable for able bodied people but not for elderly people which we all were on our trip. We did not get out of the harbour because it was too windy. Not their fault of course but I think If we were in a more stable boat we would have been able to go on the safari as advertised. We were not given prior notice that we would have to go in a RIB.. Very unsuitable. Very disappointed.

Only problem was with Glasgow hotel - lost a suitcase

Hotels not great except one in Inverness. Food choice available very poor. A couple of times we arrived at hotels and were told we had to go to dinner more or less straight away.

Generally a nice overall tour. All but one hotel met our expectations. The Macdonald Drummossie in Inverness failed on several counts: rickety furniture, substandard food in quality and quantity compared with other hotels, overpriced drinks, required payment at the table for general breakfast items before they would serve it(!). Would have preferred a hotel less isolated and more central to Inverness. Not a great deal to see at Fort William but it was more of a stopping point before a long and tiring travel day to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. The hotel on the Isle of Lewis was excellent but remote so there wasn’t much to do aside from walk to the beach in the evening. The scenery was beautiful - and it was interesting visiting the Standing Stones, Blackhouse village and the Iron Age fort but I’m not sure it was worth the amount of travel we undertook to see them. Fortunately, we had great weather. The sea eagle cruise was sadly uneventful which is often the case with these types of activity - it became a two hour quite cold, choppy boat ride with a couple at the back of the boat getting quite wet too. Our tour manager, Angie was excellent - we had a very small group but she ensured the smooth running of the tour.

A thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Great Rail Journeys masterfully overcame the several challenges that the weather threw at us.

A holiday for those who like wild, windy and empty places. Fantastic!

Excellent guide - Rob Clarke - went the extra mile.

Lovely tour with a couple of early starts but also nice surprises. Good tour guides throughout and nice hotels albeit the service left a bit to be desired.

Excellent tour, but affected by having to get to and from Glasgow at start and finish of tour on Sundays, when rail services to and from Scotland on West Coast mainline were replaced by buses owing engineering works. This should have been anticipated..

We enjoyed the holiday as it was a destination of choice and it did not disappoint. However, a rail journey and chunk of holiday [Skye] was missed out at the last minute.
