Interesting with varied trips and excellent guides in beautiful countryside.

We did not have long enough at Castle Howard I felt the time was not long enough To fully appreciate all the great things that Castle. Howard had to offer Apart from that all the other trips were excellent Thankyou Diane Goff.
The weather helped our superb trip which was very comprehensive with a good selection of trips packed into 3 days
Good holiday
A very enjojable holiday.
Small group, attentive and non- intrusive tour manager and very comfortable hotel. Carefully chosen local outings with informative and entertaining local guides who know their community well.
Tour manager not physically able to look after the group. Gave very little information and at times incorrect. Guisborough Hall expensive hotel but did not treat us as well as other guests in hotel. Meals were limited choice and served late 8pm on the last evening we were ignored no explanation . At 8 20pm starters came out. Trips disappointing did not fulfill what we expected.
I didn't go. Didn't you miss me?
Enjoyable and interesting tour, especially the last day in the dales . The hotel was very good , with excellent breakfasts and h er loful staff .
We were very happy with the trips especially Robin Hood Bay, Wensleydale, Castle Howard and the shop tour in Malton. The guides provided were good and the bus and driver we had throughout were superb. Our hotel room was spacious and very comfortable, but the hotel staff were disappointing. We had spoken to them in advance about a mobility problem but were in an annexe a very long way from the hotel. Meals were either late or early, regardless of our programme times, and when we had disappointing meals (too salty to eat, for example), they were removed with no apology or replacement. I will happily book another Great Rail Holiday, but would not return to Guisborough Hall.
Gisborough Hall comfortable and accommodating.
Lovely hotel, but quite long journeys on excursions.
Unfortunately the holiday was disappointing as we only had one rail journey and that was diesel on the North York Moors. We had realised it might be diesel and not steam but when our other rail trip on the Wensleydale line was cancelled altogether due to a trespasser on the line somewhere that was quite upsetting for most of us. The whole point of the holiday was to experience heritage rail trips. Many other aspects of the holiday were very enjoyable and the local guides were excellent. Twice the communication between our tour manager and coach driver was poor as it was unclear where the pickup points were. This resulted in delays. Because there was so much to fit in on the holiday, this meant we were late for our next visit. The hotel was lovely and the food throughout, including the tastings at Malton and Wensleydale Cheese, was delicious. I have thus renamed grj Great Food Journeys. But that wasn't really what we'd come for. We wanted the rail journeys and a least one of them to be steam.
Excellent holiday ☺️
Great holiday but a little tiring
Good food; excellent tour manager and coach driver. Would have appreciated some free time in Hawes.
Very good holiday, but a quite exhausting set of tours from early mornings to late afternoons. As the holidays target the older clients I feel there could have been more free time.
Not well organised, brochure did not indicate early starts nor some locations may not be client friendly. Otherwise hotel good and tour manager did her job well.
The rearrangement of the itinerary was not ideal. It would have been much better to go to Malton on the last day, as planned. This would have enabled us to buy fresh produce.
