I give the camera a good rating, although this time it was not a purchase but a replacement, since the night vision LEDs on the first camera failed. The replacement was very quick and without problems.
We fitted the camera into a new box i made and within ten minutes a Blue tit was init.
This review is a struggle. I like Green Feathers and have used their 2nd gen IP camera and bird box successfully for several years. their service and support are excellent. However I assumed the 3rd gen PoE IP camera would be a drop-in replacement for the old 2nd gen one that stopped working and that the birds had damaged (they pecked the microphone off!!) However the details on the website of this camera were misleading - this is essentially a Tuya camera, and making it do anything other than stream through Tuya (A Chinese cloud service) using a re-skinned Tuya app (the "Green Feathers" app) proved to be a real challenge. The Android version of the Green Feathers app was faulty and ONVIF refused to turn on. Without that, Tuya via the app was the only way. I discovered that using the native Tuya app rather than the green feathers version I could switch ONVIF on, but getting it installed into my NVR system (Synology Surveillance Station) was tortuous - the ports involved are not standard and the HD RTSP stream is therefore very hard to find (tcp port 8554 if you're interested). Now I have it working it's doing fine - and I don't need Tuya at all and have blocked the camera from accessing the Internet. The image is great and a lot better than the 2nd gen camera. Green Feathers - it would really help if you could make it clear on your website that this is a Tuya device using a reskinned Tuya app, and also offer some support for people wanting this to be useable in an NVR setup. Then this would be a five star revew. Let's hope some blue tits want to raise a family in my bird box this year!
Within half a day of installing the camera, I've had a bluetit inspecting the box in January, she didn't seem to mind the light in the camera and has been inspecting daily, I can't wait till she starts nest building. The Green Feathers App works well with the camera.
Excellent quality and build. All I need now is a bird to nest in the box 😂
Excellent quality and quality of image. Daytime lights are an added bonus.
Nice and rugged camera. Poe-connection not entirely waterproof, so try to position it in the birdbox or at least under a roof.
