I have cancelled my account and they still keep billing and delivering!

Positive:
The meals are good and tasty.
Negatives:
1. The meats are the same as Hello Fresh, so not of higher quality, so not sure what the premium is for.
2. The portions can be very small for a family of 4. We often have to top up our meal with additional food.

I cancelled my subscription and Green Chef decided still to send me some food… one of the dishes I wouldn’t even have liked.
However, they decided to charge me full price for them
This gets worse
Because I didn’t order them, I wasn’t expecting a delivery
They were left on my doorstep. I live opposite a pub and on a public footpath
By the time I got home, they had been stolen and I still have had to pay for this and nobody is accepting responsibility. I didn’t even want the food.
Green Chef, when are you going to refund the money you have taken from me???

We're really enjoying Green Chef - it mixes things up for us. The flavours from the recipes are great. The only criticism is to improve the vegan/veg options so they don't use so much pasta and rice. The meat meals avoid this. Having the option to swap out for cauli rice in the vegan/veg would be good; also more quinoa and less bulgar wheat - the option would be good. It's difficult to follow keto/high protein with the veg/vegans options there but it's definitely possible.

Had the misfortune to come across this company via an Instagram ad and signed up for some food, even though I couldn’t see the menu I paid a pound then when I looked at the menu I realise there was nothing on it. I could eat all that I would want as I’m vegetarian and I have certain allergies I cancelled immediately. As it wasn’t suitable for me. However, they still insisted on sending out an order. I did call customer service who said I would get a refund after I pointed out I couldn’t eat the food and didn’t want it as I have an allergy to butternut squash. What arrived with a few bits of cheese and other things. One of the cheeses I think was Italian but was just literally a bag of water. It wasn’t even set how they could justify a price of £38 for what I could probably get in a supermarket for less than 10. I do not know I will be back in contact with customer service to get a full refund as they only gave me a partial refund. It’s wrong that they can take money without showing you the menu first however it’s my own fault for falling for such a trick.

Do not even browse this website unless you are prepared to have your money stolen. On February 20th, I looked at their site and cancelled any potential delivery. Despite this, on April 11th, a box arrived that I never ordered and never wanted. They have effectively forced a transaction against my will and are now refusing a full refund, showing a complete disregard for consumer rights.
If the "unauthorized" charge wasn't bad enough, the product itself is appalling:
Missing Ingredients: The first and second meals were both incomplete. How can you cook a recipe when the box arrives half-empty?
Inedible Quality: Several ingredients arrived brown, wilted, and unfit for human consumption. The shelf life is nonexistent.
Insulting Portions: They claim to sell "meals for two," but the portions are barely enough to feed a single person.
Condescending Support: Do not be fooled by their generic "contact us" replies. Their customer service is unhelpful, arrogant, and clearly "well-versed" in deflection because they deal with so many complaints. It’s like water off a duck’s back to them.
THE ALTERNATIVE: If you want a company that actually respects customers, use Gousto. They offer fresher ingredients, complete kits, cheaper prices, bigger portions, and—most importantly—a transparent cancellation process without the "scammy" money grabs.
Green Chef is a dirty operation that tricks you into a first order and then delivers overpriced, rotten, and incomplete scraps. They are currently sitting on money that does not belong to them.
I demand a full refund immediately. Future customers: STAY CLEAR.
🛑 QUICK GUIDE: GET YOUR REFUND VIA CHARGEBACK
If you have been charged for a box you cancelled or didn’t want, stop arguing with their customer service. Go straight to your bank and initiate a Chargeback.
1. CONTACT YOUR BANK
App: Find the transaction and select "Dispute" or "Report a Problem."
Phone: Call the number on the back of your card and ask for the Disputed Transactions department.
2. STATE YOUR CASE
Use the term "Cancelled Subscription" or "Services Not as Described."
Explain that you had already cancelled the service and the charge was unauthorized.
3. QUALITY BREACH
State clearly that the goods were not fit for purpose: mention the missing items and the rotten/brown ingredients. Under Consumer Rights laws, you are not required to pay for goods that are not of satisfactory quality.
4. THE RESULT
The bank will investigate and, in most cases, pull the funds back from the company immediately.
Good luck and F##K you Green Chef!

1. Recipes are great.- Really tasty
2. Quick preparation. - In the main only take 30 mins
3. Really good portion size.
4. Good "useby" dates. - all recipes last the week so can use in own choice order.
5. Love being able to chose recipes to suit my dietary requirements (eg high protein).
6. Could improve just one thing - individual portions for people eating alone.

I recently looked into ordering a meal box from Green Chef and signed up to see the pricing. After reviewing the cost, I decided not to go ahead and deactivated my account within 15 minutes.
Despite this, I later received an email confirming that an order had been placed, something I did not approve.
I first tried to resolve the issue using the company’s online chat service, but this was extremely frustrating. I was repeatedly disconnected and in some cases left waiting for over 20 minutes without any response before the chat ended.
I then called customer service and was told that the first order is subject to different terms and conditions. Apparently, deactivating an account does not stop the initial order from being processed and customers must call to cancel it. This was not made clear anywhere during the sign-up process, which feels misleading.
When I asked for a contact email so I could submit a formal complaint and clearly outline my consumer rights, I was told that no such contact method exists and that they could only log my complaint internally. This is not helpful when trying to formally escalate an issue or secure a full refund.
From a consumer rights perspective, this experience raises concerns under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, which require clear and transparent information before a purchase is made, and the Consumer Rights Act 2015, particularly around fair terms and proper communication.
Overall, I found this experience very disappointing. Compared to other meal kit services, this has been by far the most unhelpful and frustrating. I would not recommend this service.

Hopeless deliveries. Last week DPD didn’t turn up and this week left it on the pavement in direct sunlight on hottest day of the year so far. They didn’t bother ringing the door bell. Food delivered was not gluten or dairy free as per my filters. Apparently my fault as they send random meals if I don’t pick them. Not what their website says. Messaged customer service who were absolutely hopeless with no apology and suggested I leave instructions for the delivery driver. I said what like knock on the door or ring the doorbell like everyone else. When I said I was thinking of cancelling I was threatened with you can’t have any discounts in future. Think some training might help in order to keep their customers. Not a great experience and it could have been so different.

Customer service is terrible - it drives you to a chat bot, initially the responses are so frustrating not addressing any of your points, when you finally do speak with an agent, you can only do so via a chat screen - they ignored my question asking for the complaints procedure, I asked 4 times. My complaint was about my delivery being two days late. They cancelled my subscription when I said I really don’t want to cancel but I feel let down by your service……they then cancelled it - I screen captured the conversation as I couldn’t believe how they where responding! Shame I can’t attach screen shots to this review of the the “chat”

Excellent recipes only thing that is a let down is missing items twice now in 3 boxes 1st week seasoning missing. Week 2 lemon missing no big deal but if you dont have any at home bit annoying. Excellent meals though. So far this time all good.

I have just started Green Chef. I have been very pleased so far with the ingredients supplied and the recipes I chose. The quality of the food has been really good and we are looking forward to our next box. It also takes the hassle out of deciding what to have for dinner for few nights. Would recommend giving Green Chef a try.

Good choice of recipes , good quality ingredients, huge prawns and plenty of them. Veg can sometimes be a bit brown. No waste, and good portion size once you get use to eating proper portions. We have 4 recipes a week, takes a way hassle of menu planning daily and shopping. Nice fresh, unprocessed foods. Would highly recommend.
