My husband and I went to GreenPath…

My husband and I went to GreenPath Financial Wellness for financial assistance after my husband had severe complications post prostate cancer surgery, and the bills piling up. We hired them and the first payment came out of my husband's account starting 3/2023. They took out $442.00 a month starting with the above date. We trusted that they would make contracts with the 7 debtors that we had listed for them and that it would be take care of. We TRUSTED that they do as promised until I got phone calls from two creditors with problems with payment. This started an investigation from myself. I called ALL 7 companies all to find out that only ONE had been offered a contract and/or signed it. The agreed amount was $50.00/month but starting 2/2023 the agreement was not upheld per contract and only $28.00/month was sent. The one company that contacted me and stated that there was NO offer given nor signed contract. It showed that "someone" was paying $20.00 per month but not from who. This did not meet the minimum required amount so $30.00/month was added to my account "as a late fee." There was, however, payments made starting 5-2023 through April 2024 and that is when I dropped this and paid it myself. My local credit union LCCU was never offered a contract nor signed one but payment of $200.00 per month "by mail," unknown who provided this payment starting 12-4-2023. Again $442.00/month was being drawn from account at the date 3/2023. Payment of $200.00 was made "by mail" starting on 12-4-2023, 1-8-2024, 2-6-2024, no payment 3-2024, no payment again until 5-6-2024 and it was THEN that I took over that payment. I had 4 other creditors that had NO agreement offered and nothing to sign with circumstances similar to stated above. They were supposed to send a monthly "update" statement which was asked for a not received until 7-2-2024. Of Course, after MULTIPLE phone calls and promises that a manager would call me on a certain date between certain times, I waited..... with no phone call. Of course, when I FINALLY was able to speak to a manager, there was multiple excuses and no way for us to recover the money taken out of our account that was NOT paid to our creditors. Is ALL 7 of our company's lying or GreenPath crooked???? I would say the latter. As of note, YEARS ago I had a similar debt management company and they delivered everything that was promised and payment was given and creditors were paid off. I DO NOT recommend this company AT ALL. ALSO, my credit is RUINED and I can't even take out a loan.

Bringing down interest rates and payment amounts

I returned to this company to handle my credit card debt. This company helps to lower the interest rates on credit cards you choose for GreenPath to set up in a debt management program (DMP). This DMP is taking a lot of stress out of trying to pay down my credit debt by working with each creditor and bringing some of the interest rates down to as low as 2 percent. Of course, a debt management program that is set up through this non-profit company requires that many of the credit card accounts have to be closed, but that's the price of getting rid of the cloud of credit debt from hanging over your head. It comes with a fee of about $75.00 in my case. the DMP comes with big reductions in payments and interest rates that can bring about a total paydown in four to five years rather than several years. It does force you to live within your means as there are no other ways to use credit to pay for things you used to turn to credit cards to buy.
