I came to Bulgaria for something deeply personal: visiting my wife’s 95-year-old great-great-grandmother. Everything about the trip was meaningful and emotional, until we rented a car from Green Rent A Car / SIMA Rentals at Sofia Airport.

What followed was pure stress and fraud.
• Contract said €400 deposit → they charged €800+
• No baby seat provided → I was told to buy one myself (€120) → never refunded
• A scratch they said was “already known” suddenly became “new damage”
• At 5A< in the morning, with my wife and 8-month-old baby waiting at the airport, I was forced to pay €650 by debit card or miss my flight

Total damage: ~€1,600.

Important: this company has new owners since October 2025. That explains why older reviews look decent, the current service is completely different and extremely aggressive.

What should have been a warm family visit turned into anxiety, pressure, and financial loss.
Please protect yourself and rent elsewhere.

Good service, but the bureaucracy is poorly organized. It can take up to half an hour just to get a car. If you rent a car again, you’ll need to fill out all the same forms as before. Making a reservation on the website doesn’t streamline any part of the process.

They were very honest. The car was clean and new. There was a small problem caused by us and the company helped us a lot. I will definitely use this company again. They did not tire us at all. Our plane landed 1 hour later than expected, but even though the employee waited for us in the middle of the night. Thank you very much.

Great service and a great price.
Online booking was easy and very good price. We originally opted for a large deposit and no CDW. However when the insurances were explained to us we gladly accepted the middle of the road CDW without tyre or window cover and a much lower deposit.
It still worked out to be a very good price for the 2 weeks driving around Bulgaria.

Good car, smooth rental procedure.

Second visit, even better! Excellent service and positive and friendly representatives. Brand new hybrid car, very well prepared and maintained. No push for insurance at all. Fast pick-ups and drops off. The deposit was returned promptly. I recommend and will definitely use it again!

Disaster from start to finish.
Was told it was a meet and greet we got watsapp message saying to walk to main road not main entrance after not finding him we receive another a picture of a white car parked next grass.Eventualy find him sat in a silver car at main entrance.but not before we get a threatening message he was leaving !! Even though it was still 5 minutes before our correct meet time.
On first meeting he didn't even get out car was totally rude and obnoxious to the point my daughter refused to talk to him.
Wrong car as well requested a manual and got automatic.
On returning the car the rudeness continued this man has problems in his life hired cars in bg MUTIPULE times and never had a issue

As a permanent resident of Bulgaria, I am a regular customer of various rent a car companies. I rented pre reserved a Toyota Aygo with Green Rent a Car prior to arriving at Burgas Airport on 19th May. I was met at the airport by the local agent Alexandria who was very helpful and professional. The car was well maintained and clean when I picked it up. After 1 weeks rental I returned the car in the same clean and tidy condition I picked it up in. This is the first time I have used Green Rent a Car and in my opinion are one of the best. Top marks ! To you Alexandria you were professional and helpful.

I have rented with GreenRentACar a couple of times now. Never had a bad experience and would recommend them to all. Good prices and good service. Everything is made pretty simple, and when returning the cars I’ve never needed to fight for my deposit back or be questioned about the cars condition. I’ll be using them again soon no doubt.

My husband and I were really impressed with the Toyota we hired. It was very clean, modern and was the icing on the cake for our Bulgarian holiday.
A big shout out to Deyan in the Sofia office for his great customer service and also the young man that we dropped the car off with at the Burgas office. We did not catch his name but he was really cordial.

You must not take a car from this company.. After the rental, they turn the car over. The main thing is to find something small to steal your money.. Be careful, they are real thieves.

We had a very nice experience with green rent a car. The boys work fast and without problems. I recommend! The car was taken for a week was very economical and brand new.

The best Rent a Car company around.
We were met at 3am at the airport,lifted to their office,given the car which we actually booked (not similar).It was a new Toyota.Lifted on our way back.
Hassle free, professional service.We have been renting cars in Bulgaria for the last 8-9 years, but these guys are miles better than the rest.
