Stunning accommodation in beautiful Galloway countryside. Sarah and Andrew are the perfect host and made us feel so welcome. The Dairy was warm and cosy, decorated with Christmas decor and a lovely welcome hamper with lots of gorgeous treats. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Grobdale and hope to return again soon.
I would definitely recommend to family and friends
Brilliant location if you want to feel 'away from it all' (but in fact only 15 minutes from Gatehouse). The Dairy is perfect, very comfortable, well equipped, presented very clean and tidy, and home produce (bacon, sausages and eggs) a real treat. VERY dog friendly as well - border collie heaven !
Another amazing stay in the Croft at Grobdale, fantastic views, amazing hosts and spotlessly clean accommodation with everything u need!!
Counting down the days until I can return! xx
We have just returned from an amazing week at Grobdale of Girthon. Sarah has put so much love into this business it really shows. The cottage had everything we needed and more and Sarah and her family could not have done more for us. The kids had the best time being shown the horses, chickens, pigs to name a few. The cottage is ideally located with Gatehouse of Fleet just a 10 minute drive and plenty of fun family activities within a short drive. The log burner and fire pit were fantastic we had a great time toasting marshmallows. Thank you again for a lovely stay we hope to be back soon!
I have holidayed in many locations around the world but I have never experienced the awesome sheer beauty of Grobdale . This coupled with the incredible hospitality of the Hunter Family and their generosity alongside the huge array activities on the doorstep is unbeatable. I have been twice and booked for a month next year. I just cannot wait to get back to and meet up with Sarah, Andy and wonderful smiling Lauren. Thank you guys for working so very hard to make everything so very perfect. You should be extremely proud of what you have accomplished. Much love xx
ABSOLUTE GEM OF A COTTAGE
So glad we booked our long-awaited stay here. Everything was perfect and I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough to anyone looking to be centrally located in Dumfries and Galloway.
The cottage is modern with a well-equipped kitchen and great bathroom and you can tell lots of thought has gone into providing exactly what might be needed including the small things like a heated mirror, a torch, dog towel and umbrella! Great seating areas outside to soak up the beautiful view of the garden and surrounding countryside.
What we look for when booking a cottage is something with a modern kitchen and bathroom plus of course a bed that looks inviting and comfortable and I have to say we chose well and will definitely be coming back.
The owners, Sarah, Andy and Lauren were extremely friendly and helpful and as other reviewers have suggested we tried their own locally produced sausages and bacon which we would highly recommend.
Well what an amazing week we just spent in the Dairy at Grobdale.
On the face of it an isolated farmstead but with the easy road links to the rest of the region the isolation becomes a bonus.
Great days walking on coast and hill, friendly towns and villages, interesting histories, fab pubs and eateries with bonus of retreating to the wonderful dark skies and hygge of Grobdale that wrap you in wellbeing.
Loved all the animals but Nora is a bit special 🐖
Sara and Andrew, thanks from us and the dogs too. We’ll be back ❤️
We loved staying at Grobdale - totally immersed in peace and wildlife. Sarah, Andy and Lauren were so helpful and friendly and we looked forward to seeing them tend to the farm animals every day. We stayed in the Byre which was high-spec and very spacious. Totally knocked-out by the Grobdale generosity and would not hesitate to return - a wonderful, stress-free stay. Loved it!
Would highly recommend...
This is a truly magical place. If you like peace, tranquility and nature this is the place to be. Friendly vibes all around. The Dairy was packed with everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Clean, fresh, warm and cosy.
We have just recently returned from a stay at the Byre and as with the other 2 cottages this one did not disappoint. The facilities are fantastic, everything we needed was there with the welcome hamper always being a lovely touch to arrive too.
The farm and surrounding areas that Grobdale sits on are scenic and peaceful and links to places of interest are easily accessible. A much needed rest in a beautiful place.
Sarah, Andy and Lauren keep doing what you’re doing!
We had a fantastic week in the Byre. If you are after a peaceful remote location to switch off this is the place to come. The attention to detail and the finishing touches were second to none. Sarah, Andy and Lauren made us feel very welcome and we will highly recommend this to our friends and family.
What an amazing week we had at Grobdale. Immersed ourselves in farm life and my little boys absolutely loved running free for a week and helping out with the animals. The area is fabulous for the whole family with lots of places to explore and great scenery from the Galloway forest park to the great beaches. Lots of tourist attractions to keep everyone happy too. Great food area as well! The accommodation was luxurious, everything done to such a high spec and lovely comfy beds. Thoroughly spoilt! We can’t wait to return x

Sarah welcomed us to her immaculately clean and well appointed Croft House. It had everything required for a short stay and more besides, including a welcome pack of coffee, eggs and jams. The location along a scenic track I stunning and the wildlife in summer compliments the accommodation and increases the sense of getting away from it all!
5 stars and I'd be happy to recommend a stay to anyone.
Wow, this was a really great stay! upon arrival there was a small basket with some welcome snacks and even a bag of ice in the freezer. The cottage had everything from superior king size beds, luxury bathrooms and a kitchen equipped with literally everything (even picknick gear). Sarah and Andy were great hosts! we could explore the farm and they asked us to come along to feed the horses, pigs and sheeps - our kids loved it! all in all it was amazing incl the meat from their shop :)
Our second visit in six months so we have seen Grobdale in all weathers. A lovely neat cottage with modern and efficient fittings. A very comfortable weeks stay. Walkers and wildlife fans will love it. The Herdwick sheep and lambs are fun as are the Tamworth Reds.
Beautiful location in the Lauriston Forest area but with good communications to the rest of the scenic Galloway. Coast and Hills.

The Dairy cottage, where we stayed for a week in June, was clean, comfortable, well equipped and situated on a remote hill farm in the midst of amazingly beautiful and wild countryside. Cuckoos and red kites awoke us in the morning and we used the garden seating and BBQ, which commanded amazing views of the surrounding hills, every day. Andy and Sarah and their daughter were wonderful hosts. They could not have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful. The consistently warm, sunny weather played in our favour, but even if it had been overcast and rainy, we would still have enjoyed a wonderful holiday at this unique gem of a spot in the heart of unspoilt Galloway

Stunning location and surrounding area, quiet and very relaxing, just the sound of nature and birdsong.
This is our first visit to Grobdale, we stayed at The Croft it was just fabulous, contemporary, modern and well equipped and spotless, the bed was amazing!!
Our favourite spot in the Croft was the large viewing window overlooking the farm and landscape, just sitting and watching the wildlife and relaxing.
We had a great welcome from Sarah, Andy and Lauren nothing is too much trouble they are just brilliant!
Love the welcome pack waiting for us in the Croft and the on-site farm produce is absolutely delicious, really recommend this.
We also had the opportunity to take part in helping gather the sheep for their medication and observing the process with Sarah, Andy & Lauren, absolutely amazing day!!
We just can not recommend this holiday accommodation enough.
This was just an amazing experience from start to the end of our holiday, the weather was gorgeous!!
Thank you so much, we will definitely return.
Just brilliant!. 2nd visit for us and won’t be the last.
Great location, great folk.
Thanks again,
Seb
Great holiday. Both my husband and our two dogs had a 👍 time
Very elegant, beautiful and clean new cottage. It has 2 rooms with queen size beds, 2 full bathrooms. Nice living room are, fridge and everything else you need to cook at home. Very quiet excellent views from the window.
Road leading to the cottage is rural but good quality. I highly recommend for few days stay to reunite with nature and enjoy beautiful views of Scotland.
