What a faff to plant a few herbs in old jam jars! I received this as a present from my son, so felt bound to use it, but what a waste of time. I'm so sorry my son wasted hiss money.
How enviromental is planting herbs in glass jars? Really! And each pack saays it contains 100 seeds -far too manyt for one jar.
Ge some seeds for about 99p from the Range and some seed planting compost and plant in proper pots with drain holes.
These people are left over hippies from the 1960's

Lovely gift I’ve just received

Just received this as a gift and love it! Loads more seeds than from my subscription company so not planted them all. Saved for another go later. Also just signed up to have the tree planted. For anyone struggling with the website GrowJar.co.uk needs a capital G and J.

A bit disappointed

Hi. I am someone who is in my house all the time so I have been able to follow your instructions carefully, however I don't understand something I consider to be a flaw with your growjars.
I followed your instructions from the website and plated different types of seed in each of the different jars. After a couple of weeks the coriander and basil sprouted in a clump . So I decided they would need separating out.
This proved to be almost impossible without killing them all (in time.) I put all the coriander in bigger pots spread apart and now they are all either spindly or dead. I planted most of them in them in seed potting compost but some in general compost. The ones in general compost all fell over quite quickly.
The problem with the glass jars is that you cannot squeeze them to take the whole soil clump out in one go, you have to tip them up, which seems to break the roots and traumatize the seedlings.
So I'm a bit disappointed to be honest.
I'm not an expert gardener, but I don't like the glass jars, as they stop you handling the seedlings gently.
The basil is still in a cluster in its jar as I was too afraid to take them out, and the mint is now (finally) sprouting, also in its jar, but the seedlings are too fine to handle.
I must be going wrong somewhere, but it isn't as easy as it is described.

This IS a valid website

This IS a valid website - you need to use the capital letters where needed ‘GrowJar.co.uk’ - lovely gift, easy to follow great instructions on website and can easily access more seeds if needed. Bonus is you can plant a tree in your name (all details and simple form on website) 😊

This product line is complete junk

This product line is complete junk. What a waste of time and money. Why would anyone want dirty jam jars filled with stones and compost discs cluttering their home when there are significantly better-quality, more attractive products available for less money?

The green/environmentally friendly slant is tailored to the gullible; there is nothing remotely green about the manufacture of jam jars, the quarrying of stone, or clearing wetland to farm jute. The herb selection leans heavily in the direction of annuals so the crop will ultimately prove short-lived and disappoint the uninitiated.

Their website has recently disappeared, and interestingly they are partnered with a Chinese company on Etsy, so the wholesome family marketing schtick appears to be cynically manufactured and fake.

Shameful.
