A graded response

I am a recent client of Guardian Recovery, and after they collected my money in they asked would I leave a review for them and rate my experience.
Would I give them a five star review ?
Honestly ? Probably not .
Did they get my money in ? Most definitely they did.
My criticism -and the reason I only gave three stars ( maybe harsh , maybe I should say four ) which infuriated me was that I was only able to talk to my case handler between the hours of 2-4pm . I can't understand why this is - I should have been able to find out about progress at any time !
My case handler was called Dave - and he always seemed to be too busy to talk to me .
Having said that , I did receive a phone call one day from him telling me that he had got my money in, so I suppose he must have done something right !
Sure enough they paid me they money that they collected in for me, no problems on that.
So to sum up Guardian, I am pleased with getting all of my money back - but I suggest you work on your customer service.

No issues

As a retired police inspector who now owns a small business, I was wary of using a debt recovery company to help me with my temporary cash flow problems. Had i read some of the bad reviews on here I would probably have not used the Guardian Recovery.. However, I am glad that I didn’t read any and went ahead and used them. As I have no expertise in recovering money. I feared that people were taking advantage of my invoice terms. I had three particularly overdue invoices which I had tried to collect unsuccessfully monies I was owed. One day I received a cold call from a representative of Guardian Recovery who told me that they could act as a mediation service between myself and those who owed me money. It seemed like a logical plan, and the fees they asking did not seem unrealistic for the service I required. I can assure you all who read these reviews that I received the money from Guardian Recovery after they had taken out the charges. I would like to add that the charges were not unreasonable as they recovered my money within a six month period.
Sadly as with all sites similar to this there are those that always appear to have an opinion or an axe to grind. Just look at Trip Advisor to see the number of hotels and restaurants who received bad reviews amongst the many positive reviews they have . With over 30 years in my previous occupation I was always the first to realise that there is always two sides to any story. I would recommend Guardian Recovery to anyone finding themselves in a similar situation to myself.

They keep all your money and then some.

I gave Guardian Recovery £10,000 worth of invoices as a test of their service. I paid £1000 (10%) for the service in advance. To date the process seems systematically misleading and obtuse. The have collected debt and kept 91% of what they have collected in our name.

There is no customer service.
Take on is very friendly. Taking money is friendly and then the friendly stop and it's a process of being passed between departments that tell you to speak to other departments.

They are creating money for themselves.
They don't charge commission. They use your debt as an 'in' and then collect an equal amount on their own behalf, for their 'fees'. That chasing inflates their 'fee' which then means any money your client pays goes toward that fee and there is nothing left for you. It's a killer system, they're first, you're last. There's nothing left for you.

The lie about paying you.
We got emails promising payments were to be made and they then didn't. (£2060 promised, cheque arrives for £317). Why they pay by BACS on occasion and cheque on another seems part of the confusion tactic. 'The finance department will re-issue the cheque' etc. Blaming royal mail. They paid us once by BACS. It's all smoke and mirrors.

Ultimately, you will not get your debt recovered.
In our experience they have taken 5627.09 in charges and payments from our clients and paid us £539. We have been fighting for over two years to get the money they took on our behalf.

Do not use these people. Ever. Ever.

Fantastic service!

I contacted Guardian Recovery after trying to get the money I was owed for a long time, a customer had withheld a considerable payment for over 12 months. I was amazed that within 2 months Guardian actually recovered my money. This made a tremendous difference to our company, as a small business it literally made the difference between staying afloat or going under. The staff at Guardian always seemed very professional and very easy to deal with, and I was kept informed of progress all the way throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is struggling getting money in !

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS AWFUL COMPANY

A big shame that you are required to leave a star in order to post a review. Zero stars was my choice. I can't warn people enough to stay away from this company. I wish I had never engaged them. They state on their website - 'If we don’t do the work we say we will, our customers are entitled to a 110% refund' - this is absolutely not my experience. They are are not straightforward about how much the service will cost, they don't adhere to their own SLAs, you will be chasing them for updates and won't have your calls returned or emails answered. Having followed the correct protocol, I have just submitted a Letter Before Claim to them, as I have no choice but to make an application to the Small Claims Court. Once this is done, I will be relieved to let it play out. This doesn't seem to interest them in the slightest, as each of my letters (timed and dated and sent by email to the 'Complaints' Team) have just been ignored. They have no regard for Consumer Rights. I encourage anyone in the same position to keep going. I believe they rely on customers running out of steam - and sanity - in order that they give up. PLEASE DON'T. For anyone who is currently thinking about engaging this company, pay attention to the numerous, bad experiences detailed on here and avoid putting yourselves in the same situation.

Guardian Recovery collected the money …

Guardian Recovery collected the money due from my bad debt.
they added on interest and other factors - rising the debt from £1800 to £3500.
My bad debt paid them - and then they failed to pay me any amount of money.
I appointed a debt collection agency to chase them - £300 was all I received.
Every time you call - at the high rate the person is never there - the accounts can never be contacted directly. This strategy is designed to frustrate and you will mentally write off the already written off bad debt.
I am now looking at taking them to court to recover the remainder.
AVOID!!!!

Impossible to reach

Once you become their customer, you can only speak to them through a 0871 number (13p/minute), and only between the hours of 14:00-16:00. Even then, if you manage to get thru, your handler will either be out of the office or in a meeting or on a call with someone else. They'll promise to call you back, but that will never happen. I'm still waiting for my call, Rorey Jackson.

Avoid giving your debts to Guardian Recovery, they are a bad company.

Update 03-07-2017: Guardian Recovery did not give me a call back. When I called them, I got a very rude manager who halfway thru the call said (and I quote), "I'm too busy for you", and hung up. I record my conversations, I'll happily send you the recording for your listening pleasure.

Good Afternoon Mr Bahrami,

We apologise that you have found difficulty in getting in contact with your account manager. We do have designated times for our recovery agents to provide updates and we try to keep their phone lines free for incoming calls for the majority of this time. We do this as we found that when our customers were calling for updates, our agents would be on calls trying to get hold of our customers debtors. The account manager you mention has also had some annual leave recently and would not have been available to give you an update.

Please be advised that we will be contacting you this afternoon in order to provide you with an update and alternative contact details in the event that your account manager is unavailable.

Kind regards,

Guardian Recovery Limited

How I wish I read the reviews on this …

How I wish I read the reviews on this site and avoided using Guardian Recovery. I can't begin to explain how difficult they are to work with. Almost a year on and we have recovered nothing from the debts we passed to them. I have felt sorry for our debtors because of the treatment at the hands of Guardian Recovery.

Please take heed from this and other reviews and avoid this company.

COURT PAPERS ISSUED AGAINST DEBT …

COURT PAPERS ISSUED AGAINST DEBT RECOVERY FIRM!!

It comes to something when you have to take a debt recovery company to court to get the money they owe you! Usual story; told us that they had paid the debt they recovered by cheque. Royal Mail must be terrible in Preston the amount of their post that goes missing.

Non communicative via email or telephone it was a full time job trying to contact them. No updates were ever given without us chasing them numerous times and then the answers were vague.

Avoid like the plague!!

Utterly disgracefull

January 2018
Utterly disgracefull. Debt was paid up 13th May 2016. Under their terms I had to pay the money into their account and I still have not received any payment despite agreeing to give them some of my money for their services.
Same story as you other unfortunates really, i.e being fobbed off with 'a cheque was sent the post'. Who in this day and age uses cheques!

Avoid this outfit at all costs!!

Dear Mr Vaughan,

I am sorry to hear that you feel the service has not been satisfactory. I am unable to comment on the specifics of your account and without further information, I cannot investigate. However, I can state that under no circumstances would we charge an up-front fee for a ‘no win-no fee’ account. As the name implies, we would not charge an up-front fee at all.

All of our customers are provided with a dedicated account manager who will work on the case and chase your debt. It would not be left unattended. We also provide our customers with an online portal to view the progress online.

In order for me to review this fully, I would require further information from you. Please could you contact me on customerservices@guardrec.co.uk for the attention of The Managing Directors Office.

Kind regards,

Dont waste your time and money with this company! I had to take them to a small claims court to get my money

Complete shambles - They have had my money for almost 5 months now and customer services manager () is not returning my emails...some customer service there! On the 21st November I was told that she would "schedule a meeting with the Finance Manager to discuss this and obtain a payment date for you" it is now 16.3.2017 and no payment date - She seems to take my frustration personally like a teenage girl would. Apparently according to Her GuardRec received all monies owed to me on 1.11.17.

I honestly cant begin to tell you how bad I have been treated - They never tell me what I want to know - One example being she suggested (In A sulk) that I write to the managing Directors office without giving me any contact information.....Sigh.
Avoid this company - I have read similar reviews...One being he never got the full owed to him and when he complained they never returned his calls. I think I will employ a separate debit company to chase GuardRec for my money!.....Update - They have just complained about this review - Seriously this company is a joke and a disgrace to the industry......They paid me about a week before it went to a small claims court (They had my money for about year)....and only because I managed to get them into a corner - SERIOUSLY AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Don't touch them with a barge pole!!!!

I was sold their service over the phone a year ago; they promised my debt would be collected in 6/7 weeks, that their charges would also be collected from the debtor and if I wasn't entirely satisfied there was a "money back satisfaction guarantee". All of this was lies.
They failed to chase the debtor for months. They emailed ME to demand money instead of the debtor! I tried to claim back on my guarantee only to be fobbed off. They said they had collected all the money - but then claimed under their T&C's that they had the right to hold on to it for 90 days. In the end they didn't actually pay me any money for 5 months after they had collected it and lied about the cheque being in the post. When it did arrive it was only 30% of what they had been engaged to collect. When I have queried why they haven't passed on all the money they failed to answer my emails, and they never call you back. They are a nightmare to deal with - avoid them like the plague!!
