Came back to Guidepost Montessori for the warm community

The director, staff, and teachers at Guidepost Hurst genuinely care for students. They go above and beyond to plan and communicate--in the celebratory moments and in the unexpected ones. We left Guidepost Hurst for a few months when they experienced concerns around lease negotiations. But as soon as we knew that was settled, we returned. Why move schools back again? In part, it is because our daughter talked every day about missing it when we passed by in the car. We had moved her to a different, well-respected, long-open school in the area. And there's nothing we'd say poor about that experience; but there was something different to her face, her energy, when she talked about Guidepost. She didn't quite open up to other students, teachers, and staff at the other school as much as she had at Guidepost. When we returned several months ago, and to this day, she is ecstatic to hug the director and assistant director. She seems full of energy and buzzing with extraversion.

While there are likely many good schools in the area that develop children in the Montessori method, there's something special about the staff and teachers here. They've developed a bit of a community where parents, caregivers, and kids can celebrate the joy of being curious and open.

I think the only part of our experience that hasn't been ideal was in regional management or corporate's management of the initial lease negotiation. The fact that the negotiations' catalyst (causing a brief period of closure) came as a surprise to senior staff and teachers was very disconcerting. I worried for those who were concerned about potential, sudden job loss; and for the families impacted. Everyone rebounded; but there were times when corporate communications didn't seem as transparent as would have been helpful. I still remember with admiration the teachers and staff who worked diligently in those days to coordinate temporary relocation and pick up of personal items. They stayed late to ensure families could get what they needed, and fought for stability for children.
