I applied for a savings account

I applied for a savings account. After a week, I finally got an email with instructions to deposit money into an account with different account details than mine. There was no online banking, only correspondence by email or by phone with an unpleasant person on the other end of the line (not rude but unpleasant)
I'm not saying the bank is bad, but I find the process is very messy. I walked away without depositing money.

Weird

It's just the weirdest bank I've ever encountered. Savings are FSCS protected, so you're safe there. However, beyond that, the website is clunky, old, and unfunctional, and there is no online banking available. Strange things happen during the registration process; when opening a joint account, the secondary applicant becomes the primary applicant whose details are used in all communications. This seems like a bug, and it's been present for several years. Everything is sent from them through strange emails with text as images - with weird attachments and weird mistakes. A lot of the instructions in emails and texts are difficult to understand. Their website and emails are all written in multiple fonts and sizes, it looks like a primary school homework assignment. When depositing money, they will eventually email you with an attachment to state that they have received the funds. I'm not sure why there is always such a delay. This is not how any other retail bank conducts business. Ultimately, I stay with them because of the great interest rates - but it is certainly a struggle, and I wish they would upgrade their website and move into the 21st century.

Very dubious

Very dubious. Sent thank you letter for opening account. No mention of what kind of account I had opened and no mention of the interest rate. Thought I'd send an amount of money to see if they acknowledged my deposit NO they didn't. No online account so can't get into account. No password no identification checks. Money in my statement account only says my name. No mention of a transfer to Habib Bank. Cancelled and requested my money to be returned. Thankfully they returned the full amount. This is a strange set up.

Habib Bank Zurich plc

Habib Bank Zurich plc. Wow. This has go down as the most disturbing on-line website application process ever for a GGB, with parts of the form in utter gibberish, drop down options containing incorrect information/or nothing, and more. Half way through I lost all trust. They have a presence in the UK but how did they manage to obtain a banking licence if they can't even get a simple web form into shape; what chance do they/we stand when matters get more complicated handling my money? If I could provide less than 1 star I would. It's like something out of the Keystone Cops. I walked away. You have been warned.
