Very Disappointed
It is with regret that I am writing this review for a fellow muslim. However I think it's important for those spending the significant amounts on these trips to be aware of the issues I encountered.
I had a disappointing experience to say the least and ultimately cancelled my Uzbekistan trip with no refund and loss of £2600. This was distressing more so as I felt gaslit by a muslim.
I booked the 10 day uzbekistan shared accommodation trip for £1550, an extra £65 for internal uzbekistan flights which was requested later, and further £900 for flights.
1. 2 weeks before the trip I received a one line email to inform the trip was cancelled. This was followed shortly by another email to confirm the internal uzbekistan flight was cancelled (not the whole trip as poorly worded in the first email).
2. 7days before the trip, a room mate preference list was sent- are you a light sleeper etc..
3. 4 days before the trip an email was sent demanding another £400! (on top of the £1615 already paid), to account for a single room as shared accommodation was no longer available. I replied the amount was excessive and could they review.
4. 3 days before the trip I was added to a very small whatspp group. I messaged admin, who informed me the total group size was myself and a couple! Three people only. I felt immediately panicked and distressed. As a single female I did not want to third wheel a couple for 10 days in Uzbekistan. All various scenarios ran through my head. For instance the company only provide 1 dinner. The other 9 dinners you must source/pay yourself. I didn't feel comfortable at the thought of spending every late evening eating alone or tagging a couple who felt obliged to hang with me, including when walking around at sites and activities and breakfast, taking photos etc etc. I was confused, perplexed and upset that a muslim company did not factor in this basic concept given the image they portray on their website. Not to mention they organise sisters only trips for this very reason. I expected there would be other sisters on the trip.
5. I asked to speak to the director urgently as this was 2 days before my flight. Her text reply to my reaching out was sarcastic with 'you asked me to contact you 'asap''. The phone conversation was distressing. I felt I was up against a profit orientated businesswoman rather than a Muslima. I explained I should have been informed that I was attending with a couple only, the complexities etc- allowing me to decide whether to book flights. She replied that local tour guides would be present and that couples don't always want to spend time together. She also said she was doing me a favour by not cancelling a small group trip as it did not make sense for her business model. Instead of a truly empathetic response, I was subject to acidic gaslighting legal speak ... "with all due respect the company is not obliged to inform you of numbers or makeup of attendees"... and "if this was an important issue you could have contacted us", also " I am very concerned that you are not familiar with our terms and conditions". Whilst yes the T&Cs stated that group sizes may vary and that one may have to pay extra (amount not stated) if shared accommodation unavailable, I would have thought that basic common sense and Islamic Adab would prevail regarding comfort and safety of a single sister joining a couple for 10 days. Her tone and general responses was sad to hear and in the end I felt gaslit and manipulated. She urged me to attend and said she was willing to give me £200 off the £400 I needed to pay for a single room- this is because I am related to someone she likes who attended her previous trips. I emphasised again of my discomfort of third-wheeling for 10 days, and didn't want to pay another £200 to do so. I asked her to cancel my space and put the money aside for a future trip or give me part refund. She refused to do this and again reiterated the terms and conditions. She said she would try to claim money on hotels. Its been 6 weeks and I have not received a penny. I lost my £900 flights.
6. I deliberated for 48 hours about going as I had spent so much. The director also asked if I had done istikhara- a further insult/deflection. I did not trust or feel safe with them, and did not want to be stressing crying in the middle of Uzbekistan. I lost £2600 but Alhamdulilah I feel I avoided something greater.
7. I hope the company takes this feedback and re-evaluates their business model. All money should be earned and consumed in a halal manner, in every sense of the word halal.
8. Lastly the prices are incredibly high but people invest with the knowledge its an Islamic group, they will meet like minded muslims with environment/security/professional and Moral code to match. Otherwise you can book packages for £500 with change left over.
** EDIT: £385 of £1615 was refunded

Highly Recommend!!
I cannot recommend this group enough! I had such an amazing trip to Uzbekistan. Our local guide, Humayoun, far exceeded all expectations. He had such genuine care for us and such good laid-back energy, while also taking his responsibilities very seriously. The itinerary was really well-balanced. We were able to see and do so much in such a short period of time! The accommodations and meals were all better than expected. I definitely intend to book another trip with HTG in the future iA! JAK HTG!

Bosnia - Nov 2024
On the Nov 2024, I went on a wonderful trip exploring Bosnia with HTG. Every single day was extraordinary. From the natural beauty to warm hospitality, engaging discussions about Bosnia’s past and present and the delicious local food - it all left a lasting impression. The most memorable was the hike to Lukomir, Mostar heights, the harrowing Tunnel of Hope and all the history and hustle of Sarajevo. It also helped that the accommodations were amazing! Overall, the trip was deeply enriching, and I’d recommend it to anyone seeking a meaningful and scenic journey through this beautiful country; especially with HTG.

Uzbekistan
We took the Uzbekistan tour couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I was very pleased to travel with a group which catered to our muslim needs. Our tour guide, Humoyun was excellent in doing his work, was very warm and had a sense of humour. His warm welcome was quite touching. Our local guides were excellent ladies as well, very knowledgeable, warm and friendly. Overall, the itinerary had a good balance, time for sightseeing with the guides and free time to explore on our own or to just take it easy. The history was amazing, the architecture was stunning and cuisine was absolutely delicious Maasha Allah.
I would really recommend HTG to any of my family and friends. Would love to join HTG again for another adventure in shaa Allah.

Awesome Uzbek experience!
Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable! We only had 12 people but it was a beautiful experience. I was very grateful to go on this trip and meet such wonderful people. I feel like I learned so much and also got to see another culture and county. I will be telling my friends and family about HTG since I had such a good experience. The only negatives were that some days I was really tired (it was a lot of walking and a little overwhelming to hear so much about Islamic history). The hotels were really nice, but the one in Samarkand had some issues.

Trip of a lifetime
We had such an amazing time in Bosnia courtesy of Halal Travel Guide. Every detail of the trip exceeded our expectations, from the accommodations to the transportation and food. The itinerary kept us busy the entire week we were there while we explored the beautiful country.
There were so many highlights to the trip with all the sights we got to see but the true highlight was our tour guide Selma who took care of our every need and shared so much knowledge and history with us. Through her reflections I felt a real connection to Bosnia and its people and deeper kinship with our Ummah.
I would highly recommend visiting Bosnia and using HTG. We certainly plan to book with them again for future travel InshaAllah.

INCREDIBLE trip to Bosnia
The trip arranged for us by Halal Travel Guide was just incredible. In terms of logistics, everything was seamless from the time of arrival until departure. The amenities were perfect. We were travelling with a large group of family and Halal Travel Guide made everything very easy.
MORE IMPORTANTLY however was the INCREDIBLE experience we had discovering Bosnia. The tour guide who was assigned to our group was incredibly knowledgeable and really helped us to connect to Bosnia, to both the land and especially with the people and their stories. This enriched our experience to no end and really was the highlight of our trip. Both young and the elders in our group all benefitted from this. The activities arranged by Halal Travel Guide further allowed us to explore and enjoy this beautiful country. This is the best trip we have taken with our family and we look forward to using Halal Travel Guide services again!

Honestly one of the best trips EVER…
This was honestly one of the best trips I have EVER been on or a part of!
Alhamdulillah the group was very well taken care of and accommodated for depending on our wants, needs, and potential desires - in terms of lodging, activities, programming, and overall experiences!
The HTG team (shoutout Sr. Soumaya, Sr. Selma, Br. Sami!) did a phenomenal job in creating an environment where us travelers felt inclined to indulge in our curiosities, ask questions, critically think, and actively discuss the often overlooked Who? What? Why? How? questions that are so integral to a people's land, history, sense of self, sense of community, and a means of propelling the future. This trip was an amazing way of teaching the past, the contemporary, and the future potential for a country, for a people, and for an idea.
For the reflectors in the group, there was ample opportunity to reflect; for the history buffs, we saw and heard about so much history; for the readers, there were books, articles, essays, and pieces referenced and suggested; for the adventurers and adrenaline junkies, there were so many outdoor activities to constantly be immersed in. All of this was juggled seamlessly, interwoven into each other, and each given its due share and space.
While there was the exciting element for sure, the gravitas of the serious matters were also taken very seriously. HTG and its partners relayed the heavy matters with its due, making sure to also incorporate the modern elements of the struggles, injustices, and realities (ie modern impact, community healing, sociopolitical impacts, etc) with those of the many global struggles and realities.
All in all, I am very grateful to have gone on this trip with HTG. I couldn't have asked for a trip better than this, and can't wait to join the next HTG trip!

Our most memorable trip was to Bosnia…
Our most memorable trip was to Bosnia with Halal Travel Guide. From the moment we landed, they took care of all our needs. We were able to enjoy the sites, history, culture, food and people while all the details were taken care of by our gracious team.
The logistics of the transports were comfortable and smooth. The English speaking guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The activities were well planned to cater to our group and abilities. The attention to detail in choosing local non profits for our dining places was appreciated by all of us.
We all felt like a family by the end of our trip. We have never felt so connected to a country as we did after traveling with Halal Travel Guide.

Thoughtfully Curated and Deeply Meaningful Experience
I recently had the pleasure of going on a trip with Halal Travel Guide (HTG) along with my mom and sister, and I can’t recommend them highly enough. From start to finish, everything was incredibly well-planned and executed. The itinerary was thoughtfully curated, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the experience.
What truly stood out was how beautifully they conveyed the rich history of Bosnia during the trip. Every part of the journey was not just about sightseeing but about understanding the story of Bosnia and its people. HTG did an amazing job of connecting us to the culture and history, making the experience both educational and deeply moving.
Overall, the trip was enjoyable and memorable! I hope to travel with HTG again in the future. If you’re looking for a travel experience that’s not just about the destinations but also about truly understanding and connecting with the places you visit, HTG is the way to go!

Outstanding Storytelling and Service with HTG
My mom, sister, and I traveled to Bosnia-Herzegovina with Halal Travel Guide. HTG did a fabulous job designing a dynamic trip that centered on telling the story of the Bosnian people. Our wonderful guide, a survivor of the Bosnian War, helped me appreciate the struggle the Bosnians endured when she spoke about the Srebrenica genocide and the Siege of Sarajevo. We also had the opportunity to hear from other survivors of the war.
The Bosnian people are welcoming and warm. There are mosques and halal food everywhere. And the country is stunning, filled with greenery and mountains, which we got to intimately experience while white-water rafting and hiking.
I hope that I will have the chance to travel with HTG again. I was highly impressed with the quality of their service. The organizers and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They did a great job connecting our entire group with the culture, people, and history of the country.
