I ordered lemon sole for delivery on Wednesday, paying £45 hoping for really fresh fish. Tracking on Wednesday said “was to have been delivered today”. It finally arrived at 6.40 pm on Thursday. The packaging was not chilled. I refused the delivery. If I had wanted two day old non-chilled fish I could have got it a lot cheaper locally. I contacted the office by phone and email and it was all DPD’s fault. Refund- I am not holding my breath! Will never use again.

I ordered Skate Wings...they arrived on my chosen date.. and the delivery company DPD kept me informed the time they would deliver..the Fish was well packed and excellent quality...couldnt resist and had one of the Wings for dinner....it was delicious...the rest are in the freezer.....Will definitely be ordering again....

Where to begin? I ordered 2 kg of sardines that were supposed to be headless and gutted, but they arrived only headless, leaving me to prepare around 40 fish myself before a dinner gathering.The website mentioned a 25% weight reduction for headless, gutted fish. One pack, inclusive of heavy packaging, weighed 704g, and after gutting, I ended up with 596g, indicating the package likely never contained a full 1kg.The explanation given was that the sardines were supposed to be gutted, but the roe was left since some individuals prefer it that way—though what I found were intact innards. I suggested an excellent resource on sardine preparation that Trustpilot doesn't feature but can be found by searching How to Gut a Sardine.Additionally, DPD left the delivery box 35 meters from my door on the wheels of my bin. Ben Hamilton, unrelated I assume, found this appropriate, assuming the driver deemed my porch 'unsafe.'Hamilton's could have turned this situation around, but instead, they insulted my understanding and ignored my proposed solution. I also noticed signs of 'belly burn' on some of the fish.

Hamiltons are the best online fish suppliers by miles. Their scallops are fresh and sweet, the best I have ever tasted and their lemon sole is another favourite. Would highly recommend them. The fish arrives the next day and is very well packaged so the contents are still super fresh.

I ordered on line after my local fishmonger couldn’t supply our favourite fish of John Dory.
The fillets arrived well packaged and well within DPD’s one hour delivery slot.
I chose two of the 300g portions-was expecting two fillets but there four. Regardless, pan-fried in butter with a little oil, the fillets were delicious. I will definitely be ordering again.

I was really wanting Huss, so difficult to find, even at the fish and chip shops atm. So I googled and up came Hamiltons! I ordered Huss to my heart's content because the price was just SO good. Couldn't resist adding some other fish and waited.
The fish arrived on time beautifully packaged. All was so fresh and well chilled. Where I had asked for filleting, it was immaculate. What I really like was that none of it was frozen. It was fresh off the boats. What an absolute treat, thank you, I will be ordering again!

I have now been using Hamilton's for several years and have almost always been delighted with the product and service received. On the VERY rare occasion that something isn't quite right, or I have a product enquiry, this is handled in a very timely and professional manner (often out of hours) by Ben - one of the proprietors.

I do have one suggestion though. Now that Hamilton's appear to have achieved a position of strength in the market, they are best placed to try and wean the consumer on to some less favoured and lesser known fish e.g. Dabs, Megrim, Pollock, butterflied Sardines etc etc.

Just got my delivery of rock/huss prompt and excellent service from preparation to delivery even when i made a mistake on my order they were so helpful polite and understanding. And i have to say the fish was well packaged and looks amazing cannot wait to get it in some chip shop batter and in the fryer.i will follow up with another review on the taste and flavour when I'm not so bloated who needs a chip shop when you can go to Hamiltons fish and cook your own dinner

Packaged well, had to throw out 25 dead mussels from 2kg though.

Not great.

Edit* just slightly under half a kilo of dead mussels thrown out.

Had two phone calls regarding my delivery to say it was delayed due to the fish at the market not being of good quality. I was then told it would be with me on the Saturday without fail.well it didn’t turn up at all. Poor service won’t be buying again

Made an order on-line for a fresh fish selection box from the listed varieties available. On the day before shipping, they were short of one particular type of the fish steaks I required - so Ben rang me to personally apologise and explain that they expected to ship one day later. Very good service !
Upon receiving the box we were delighted with the size, quality and freshness of all the fish. In the past, I have ordered from several different on-line fish suppliers, including a couple of 'premium' (i.e. expensive) suppliers - but Hamiltons stand head and shoulders above the others in every respect.
We shall be ordering again from Hamiltons as soon as we have finished enjoying this selection. Recommended !!

The website warns of a 25% loss in weight if headless and gutted. One pack weighed 704g including heavy polythene packing.
By the time I had gutted the fish I was left with 596g suggesting there never was 1kg in the package.

The excuse was that they were gutted but the roe was left inside because some people prefer it that way - the innards left in my fish were guts.

I referred the gentleman to a brilliant resource which Trustpilot won't publish but may be found under "How to Gut a Sardine".

The order was further compromised by DPD leaving the box 35m from my front door on the wheels of my dustbin.

A Ben Hamilton (maybe no relative) thought this quite in order and assumed the driver considered my front porch 'unsafe'.

Hamilton's could have rescued this but chose to insult my intelligence then failed to respond to my suggested remedy.

I detected evidence of 'belly burn' on some fish.

Just received our first supply of fish and I must say it is delicious. All packed in handy packs of two so can go straight into the freezer. Will be putting in another order at some future date.

Just had another delivery from Hamiltons, I think my fifth, and really impressed. Mixture of fish including whiting, plaice, cod, pollock and also 1 kg of salmon special offer. Everything in the box with the fish is recyclable.
