Handelsbanken blocked my access and asked for documents which breaches privacy policy if someone else
Handelsbanken blocked my access to my own funds after I transferred money to help a friend studying in the Netherlands. Despite providing full documentation (tuition invoice, admission letter, official funding requirements), they refused to lift the restrictions and left me without money while abroad.
They even demanded private bank statements from my friend in the Netherlands — documents I cannot and should not provide, as this breaches privacy. Instead of doing a simple bank-to-bank verification within the EEA, they punished their own customer. This caused serious financial and health consequences us.
I have filed a complaint with Finansklagenemnda and involved a lawyer. Customers should be aware of how unfairly this bank can act.
