I wish I checked the Google Reviews.…

I wish I checked the Google Reviews and Trust Pilot before sharing my number with Simon, from what I’ve seen he pushes a really good sell. Insists on taking phone numbers and instagram and then starts becoming overly friendly there.

I thought it was just me that felt uncomfortable but having looked at the Google reviews, every negative review follows the same pattern with him. Messing up bookings, refusing refunds and then refusing to engage.

I’m 23 and I feel like I wasted time engaging with Simon, who also wouldn’t leave me alone. I had 14 missed calls in the middle of the night from him even though I told him that I was back in the France and was fighting jet lag.

He still owes me a refund that he laughed off and said nobody would believe me and he’s just done it to someone before. He even shared her personal details and how much money he took off her and how he played it off to his colleagues. He told me not to bother contacting via instagram or email and that he’ll get everyone to block me.

left NZ feeling unsafe

I was checking in to Lylo Hostel in Auckland, when Simon befriended me. He insisted on me taking his number, and was pushing for me to take his social media which I declined. He then asked me what I was doing and how long I'd be there for and told me I should only come to him as he needs the commission and he's the number 1 salesman in Happy Travels, I felt it was a bit pushy but thought okay. He then got quite personal and asked me to meet him for a drink and accidentally bumped into him in the harbour a few days later. He later that evening sent me inappropriate pictures and messages, and wouldn't leave me alone. I told him to stop. The next day he messaged and called again for me to 'make it up to him' I needed to book activities. When I said his behaviour was inappropriate he said I was causing him anxiety. I felt incredibly pressured to book activities with him and ultimately because I said no I was sent abuse and then blocked. I think this is inappropriate for any sort of business. Its left me feeling unsafe in another country.

Happy Travels NZ is part of Happy Travels Australia and Happy Travels PTY is the parent company. I have done my research before leaving a review.
