I have been using Estimator Express now for almost Twelve Months and I can honestly say that the product is excellent. As with any learning process, I have had many questions along the way and The technical support at HBXL are always able to assist and solve problems as and when they arrive, nothing is too much trouble. The software is head and shoulders above the previous software that I was using and I definitely think it has enhanced our business model, not just making the estimating more accurate but making sure that the estimates are professionally presented. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Estimator Express to anyone!

After initially buying the superb estimator express software, I have always received 100% top notch customer service from these guys.
I would highly recommend both the software and the customer support package.

The team and helpline are always extremely helpful, nothing is ever too much trouble and no question too silly! Shout out to Joe, who is a brilliant communicator and it's so refreshing to talk to people who know their stuff! Software overall saves so much time (and we get our evenings back) on quoting jobs. 10/10.

I took the plunge and took out the life time subscription.
The software is easy to use.
It pretty much covers every job associated within the building trades.
Provided that the overheads and profit margins are tweaked to your own business needs, I feel it's accurate and can be relied upon.
There's also very helpful support on the end of the phone too.
I would definitely recommend this software to any builder especially as there are so many variables involved in the work. It saves a lot of time and mistakes during the estimating process.

Estimator Xpress has been very useful software to help provide detailed quotes and for picking up on details that are often forgotten in the estimating process. Linking to Plansxpress has taking my estimating to the next level as it can cope with changing plan details, if the client wants to discuss a change of works altered plans and costings are simple to produce.

I've used help on chat and over the phone a lot as there is much to learn in the software.

My project is a change of use from house to 4 flats. Builder #1 (who did a simlar project in 2023 for me) quoted £226,276. Builder #2 quoted £295,945.27. Builder #3 (using HBXL) came up with £386,589.07. The work has not helped at all to be able to hold any of the other quotes to account. A 30-70% variance is just too much for me to rely on the output.

The output is certainly detailed, though my focus in analysing the wild variance has been to focus on the rates and quantities schedule of over 1600 lines. The rest of the output looks impressive but in reality are just different cuts of the same base data that anyone can obtain with a spreadsheet.

The sales pitch was good in terms of being able to "value engineer" once the quote was produced. However, this process evaporate with requests for more money, when I asked for a breakdown by flat (the scheme of 4 flats includes a main building, loft conversion and outbuilding). This is a fundamental aspect of the project.

So I was disappointed with HBXL for being so off the mark when compared to other builder quotations, and for drilling down, but completely missing the basic point of a cost breakdown by flat.

I have been dubious about using Estimator Xpress and trusting their pricing package. My pricing system I have used for years but thought I would go on a free training seminar with them and make that initial jump.
WOW… The system is so comprehensive, and have won my first two jobs. I wish now I had switched years ago. Each time you price a job it gets easier and their helpline is just a phone call away.

Joe as normal was very helpful. He guided me through the problem over the phone, which I find helps me to remember.

HBXL Estimator Express is without doubt the best stand alone software available for the building industry.
Having used it for many years, it has allowed me to produce detailed quotes, very quickly, with complete confidence that every aspect of a given project has been allowed for. Then at a press of a button it produces a detailed and professional quotation for the client, which time after time has been significant in their decision to award us their contract.
By using EstimatorXpress along with PlansXpress and Health and Safety Xpert I have been able to provide the ultimate Design & Build service for our clients, both quickly and efficiently.

I run a small building company and like all the people around me in the same business I have always had trouble finding the time to put an accurate costing together let alone putting it with a clear concise tender package to submit to a client but with HBXL’s various software’s that exactly what I’m managing to do now!!! I’ve been using their EstimatorXpress and PlansXpress for about 18 months now and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Like all software it takes a little bit of time to start to find your way round but with their clear concise tutorial videos which are easy to find through YouTube and good old fashioned telephone calls pointing you in the right direction you’re soon flying through. I really can’t recommend the product highly enough and the customer support is second to none. Great company and I’m glad I came across them.
