HCPC Ignored repeated emails

I contacted the HCPC regarding fake physiotherapists who are putting patients’ health and lives at risk. Despite repeatedly reaching out, they have ignored me completely. They are supposed to regulate medical professionals, yet in reality, they don’t bother and clearly don’t care.

NIL POINTS

As someone who successfully had a social worker held to account by this organisation around 10 years ago, I felt hopeful they would 'do the right thing' with another 'registrant' of theirs, who is recorded by the Police as causing me "harassment".

If only  I had read these reviews, the one's I can relate to as a 'complainant' that is, because they offer valuable insight and advice.

I also wish I had been aware of the 'published review' by the PSA into this organisation; HCPC have FAILED to "MEET STANDARD 15 FOR THE TENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR... ABOUT THE TIME IT TAKES TO PROCESS FITNESS TO PRACTICE CASES." ...

It is mind blowing to me, that an organisation judging 'registrants fitness to practice' ARE NOT FIT TO PRACTICE THEMSELVES!!!

The HCPC comes across as a high handed organisation, looking at its website. Who are these people who assess the fitness to practice of its members, who regulates it, is it accountable and is it fit for purpose?

There needs to be an independent review…disclose

HCPC = Bogus Regulator

There needs to be an independent review of the HCPC. This organisation has been failing for years in respect of Fitness To Practice investigations.

Year on year the PSA report failings in the HCPC investigatory processes and failure to keep those involved updated and informed.

Therefore, they are failing to adequately regulate, in order to keep the public safe.

It has a huge backlog of FTP cases, which have been ongoing for years.

The HCPC are a risk to patients and patient safety. This much is demonstrated in all the other reviews on this site.

Don't waste your time with them, if you've got concerns, disclose these to the press or social media. Your more likely to achieve accountability, than waste your time with this bogus outfit.

The HCPC will try and cover up any concerns you have, in order to protect themselves and other agencies.

The HCPC regulate complaints, making them go away, hiding legitimate concerns and patient safety issues.

If you have other options, then follow them. Only approach these charlatans if you have no other options, and prepare to be disappointed.

Rude staff

Rude staff, Lucy I spoke to today to ask a query about my address as I am trying to RTP she actually huffed at me on the telephone and seemed like she couldn't be bothered to speak to me and was spoken to as if I was stupid. A lot more professionalism and training needed with their call Centre staff.

People are harsh on the NHS about not…

People are harsh on the NHS about not enough frontline staff, long waiting times, etc.

The easiest way to resolve the matter is recruitment.
My experience as an applicant: No updates, no feedback other than rejecting what they've asked for.
Despite submitting solid evidence, it was rejected.
Next step is a final interview before I'm fairly sure, I'll be rejected as well and be forced to leave the country.

I'm an experienced Paramedic, with relevant qualifications and 10 years in South African EMS.
When your family member is in critical condition at home, and you call for an ambulance and get told there's a long waiting time for any help to come, just know it's not because the NHS or your local trust doesn't care, but they simply don't have the staff and resources.

Sadly, it's up to the HCPC to process the people who could be out saving lives and making a difference and help fix the staffing shortages. I send my support to the lower level staff at the HCPC who are doing their best in the failing system. Hopefully the people in a decision making capacity will enact change in the near future to allow people who have gone through the right channels to work here legally and bolster staffing numbers.

Completely useless organisation which…

Completely useless organisation which is not fit for purpose. My complaint was about two psychologists who lied and ruined an autistic person's life. The HCPC took almost two years to complete their investigation. So called case manager Eloise Cadman wrongly closed one of my complaints down without speaking to me or giving any consideration to vast amount the evidence I had supplied to her. Case manager Eda Koc failed to respond to my emails, failed to return my calls and then around fourteen months after my original complaint, made such a mess of putting the complaint to an independent panel that they told her they did not understand what she had presented to them. Totally unprofessional. Thereafter, when I complained about the service I had received from the HCPC I was once again given the runaround by complaint manager Paul Douglas who took another two months to conclude there was nothing he could do to help me and then lied by informing me he was passing my complaint onto a,senior manager which he never did. This service should be closed down its a disgrace.

I reported serious malpractice to the HCPC regarding its registrants.

Having reported concerns to them, after well over a year, I have still to receive an update from this bogus regulator.

The Professional Standards Authority or PSA, who have oversight of the HCPC, report similar concerns every year to Parliament, but nothing ever changes.

The HCPC are putting patients, clients and its registrants at risk because of their regulatory ineptitude.

But there is no accountability for their clear malpractice and ineptitude. The HCPC are allowed to act with complete impunity by Parliament.

As a result of the HCPCs lack of investigation, and updates of any kind after over 12 months, I made a formal complaint to the HCPC.

Yet again, the HCPC have failed to respond and follow their own processes in respect of my complaint.

I even copied the PSA into communications with the HCPC.

But still, I've had no response regarding my legitimate concerns or my complaint submitted to the HCPC.

The PSA are toothless, whilst the HCPC are as inept as their are corrupt.

Parliament are failing to ensure the HCPC are fit to act as regulators. Placing the safety of the public at risk.

Clearly the reputation of the state comes before the safety of the general public.

Worst experience ever...Lack of…

Worst experience ever...Lack of transparency of the international application process, nil response to my emails, no number provided to call and only when I made a formal complaint my application was processed. I paid over 600 pounds for an international application to practice as SLT (having had 9 years experience in Australia). I applied in June 2024, provided at the time all the information that was required, then I was contacted in August 2024 to provide a reference from Speech Pathology Australia, which was submitted by them within a week. I haven't heard from HCPC until 10 days after my complaint was made in October. The amount of money you pay for the service you get just does not make any sense. The only reason they can get away with it is that Registration with the HCPC is a legal obligation if you want to work as an SLT in the UK. My understanding is they are not accountable to anyone for the service they provide.

As a newly qualified student

As a newly qualified student, the communication and customer service is so poor. Even when talking, you are constantly cut off so you can't finish what you are saying and then when I said I thought the service would be better she hung up the phone. This is a service which is paid for, evidently there needs some improvement in customer service.

In 2020 This disgusting excuse for an organisation was asked to investigate a situation where a psychologist had failed to do work and broken confidentiality.
They acknowledged these faults occurred but then proceeded to claim they had zero responsibility or desire in fixing them, openly assuming a position of supporting it's members criminal behaviour.
They took over 9months to investigate something, and oughtright lied in part of their investigation making false claims about the employment of one (another related) individual who was involved, which were subsequently disproven by NHS Scotlands patient experience team.

Their absolute indifference to putting patience at risk, to harm caused, to the potential criminality and failures of its members is disgusting and vile.
This organisation should be closed down, and investigated and legal charge brought against some of its employees.

Shut them down!

Well I don't think I have enough space to write how bad I think they are. 4 years after Kirsty Lowe and Ruth Tully decided I was writing too many reports I still have to attend hearings. There were 3 complaints and none since yet 4 years later, after suicidal thoughts, doing a different job and emigrating I continue to toil through their process. There is no fairness it is all procedural nonsense. I pity anyone who goes through this. I dared to complain and went to the High Court and got a 40K bill for my efforts even though I won. Protected titles and just not worth it. The HCPC don't care, they have spent in excess of 400k on my case all from your dues. Tell you what people complain with your feet and us Psychologists can set our own governing body up just like the social workers did.

Patients have no voice anywhere

Reported a mental health practitioner to the HCPC for a lack of ethical standards amongst others and they have been less then useless. Had to resort to using their facebook messaging service due to them not answering emails and even then, responses were generic and I still have no idea months on if the clown employed by the NHS to help me who failed to do so is being investigated.

Patients have no way of getting accountability and should begin protests outside these organizations such as the ilk of the Just Stop Oil lot.

If I could give 0 stars

If I could give 0 stars, I would! A Florence excepted my complaint as a safeguarding issue with a disabled personnel, and she/he forward it to Amy Coates, Senior Decision Maker, to which 3 months later I get a final decision from her which her conclusion/closure letter as stated, totally disregarded the case and was biased to the said disabled personnel. It is noted that HCPC do this quite often, as my research has found. Their investigation on a serious safeguarding issue to a disabled personnel was totally mishandled, and the people in the position should be investigated as being unqualified for the position.

This organisation is not fit for…

This organisation is not fit for purpose. They accept every “complaint” without any investigation into circumstance, background or motivation. Their language is accusatory and combative. They take months or years to deal with issues, leaving practitioners to deal with the awful mental health repercussions completely unsupported. I know of practitioners who have attempted suicide during their process. Someone needs to take them in hand, manage their powers appropriately and above all, ensure fairness. Please, for the sake of hardworking mental health practitioners across the UK will someone please take charge of this awful mess of an organisation before we have an incident like the tragic death of a headmistress under OFSTED.

Pointless organisation

Pointless organisation. Wasted a number of weeks with HCPC about the misuse of title, and they would come up with every single excuse as to why they couldn't investigate. This was a very serious case which has had a huge lifelong detrimental impact on our family. Every time I would point them to their guidances and they would come up with another excuse why they wouldn't take on the case, which was never explicitly stated on their website. It was frankly embarassing to be part of. They are not interested in protecting the public which they purport to do (should really be reported to trading standards). Basically just another scammy government organisation protecting other scammy government organisations.) They just want registration money. If I were a professional using a protected title, I would save your money and not bother registering as they won't do anything anyway if someone made a complaint. We are in the market for some of these services, but I am not going to bother to see if the person is registered with HCPC from now on.
