Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 137 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the customer service to be exceptionally poor, with representatives often unhelpful, uninformed, and difficult to reach, leading to long resolution times for issues. Customers also reported significant problems with the website and user experience, particularly concerning login difficulties, passkey issues, and general inaccessibility. The payment process was frequently criticized, with users experiencing declined cards despite sufficient balances, fraudulent charge issues, and delays in fund transfers or reimbursements. Reviewers also noted that the service became problematic after a merger with another provider, leading to a decline in quality and increased frustration. Additionally, some customers expressed concerns about the company's practices regarding fund transfers and account closures, noting that these processes were difficult. However, a few other people also felt that some issues stemmed from users not fully understanding how their accounts worked or waiting too long to address problems.

Untrained Customer Service

I’ve had a HealthEquity account for years with my previous employer and let the balance stay in the account while I was in between jobs. When my new employer made the switch to health equity, I made several calls to activate my new card and tried to do a consolidation of accounts. Not only did the customer service rep say that was not allowed, they said in no other uncertain terms could I transfer my funds into another provider … which is contradictory to their own published policies. Annoyed with their reps inability and clear lack of knowledge, I immediately opened a Fidelity HSA and put a full account transfer request to in.

Do not trust them with your money

I used this company for years for my HSA accounts. Recently I went to switch investment choices and it was literally impossible to do. I spent hours on the phone and online trying to do a simple transaction it was not possible. I've transferred all my money to Fidelity. Do not use these people.

Horrible

Horrible, the claims dept do not know what they are doing. They constantly denied my claims and states what I need to send it in. So I send in what new documentation that they need and they deny it again and again and again. I ordered glasses online and they say I need a receipt, so I provided a receipt and they want itemized items and how much I owe the eyeglass company. I'm like huh, I just ordered glasses online and used my personal debit card to pay for them, WHAT ARE YALL TALKING ABOUT?????!!!!

PRIVACY RAPER

Had an HSA with them. They then began demanding that I set up a freaking samsung microsoft PASSCODE just to log back in to my OWN ACCOUNT. Beyond evil privacy violation. No alternatives. Avoid at all costs not worth it.

It’s a shame that I have to even give them a single star at all. I have called four times, two of them someone picked up the phone and then hanged upright away, and the other two I just lost all sense of hopes. They’re getting my money, but I’ve yet to get a card. Then I go to read the reviews and I’m wondering what I he company I’m working for is thinking?! This is the best that Public Storage can do for their employees?

I with all of the other reviews

I with all of the other reviews. Even though the wait time to talk to a representative is surprisingly short, they do not know anything about issues you are calling for help, including simple things like setting up your account. Add that to the horrible app they force on you (locks automatically, requires passkeys that cannot be set up and you have a disaster

Mandated passkey

Mandated passkey on my phone to access my account. Every time I try to access my account I have to set up a passkey again which fails. Once in a blue moon deleting the app and reinstalling will allow me to get into my account but very rare. Have called support to try to correct with no success. I have a fair amount of money in this account that I am not able to manage investing. And I hate that my phone now has a passcode required only by this app that doesn't work for this app!

Horrible HSA customer service

Had an unauthorized charge on my HSA card. Only option to remove the charge was to cancel the card. A replacement would be sent in 7-10 business days. So I asked them to expedite it and they refused, said that wasn't an option. I asked them "So I'm supposed to go 2 weeks without getting and prescriptions or going to any doctors?" The answer was 'That's correct, or you can charge it to your personal card and file for reimbursement.' Read what others have said about that, short answer is "good luck."

This company is headed for a death-spiral. They have been nothing but a PITA since they acquire our previous provider, Hello Further. The transition was a PITA, and now they've eliminated their web interface and force use of their mobile app only, which is a POS. I called their CS and they said there is nothing they can do, we are stuck with only using the app. We are shopping around for another HSA provider.

Frustrating and Unexplained Claim Denials

I have a FSA with HSA. Claim submissions end up with denial after denial…..fix one thing and they find another reason to deny. And here is a tyoical denial reason. “Insufficient supporting rationale “………what does thst mean? Tell me WHY it was denied. They may as well write the reason as “because, thats why”. This is my LAST FSA if these idiots are going to be in charge of NOT giving me back MY MONEY!

I can't believe they're still haven't fixed their passkey disaster.

I can't believe they're still haven't fixed their passkey, which is a total disaster. I have 11 other institutions joined correctly through my budget tool at my credit union, but not health equity. Quite often I can't even get into their site directly & it's been months now. It just spins & spins. The other great disappointment with Health Equity was when they made you keep 2,000 out of your investment accout. Most of the bills I pay are no where near 2,000. This grossly hinders making interest etc.

This company is horrendous

This company is horrendous. Their mobile app and website are difficult to navigate and horribly slow to update itemized documentation. They request receipts for legitimate medical expenses on just about every transaction. If you value you sanity, DO NOT LET YOUR HR DEPARTMENT USE THIS COMPANY!!

It is borderline criminal

It is borderline criminal how they drain your account dry at nearly $4 per month. Then make it so hard and ridiculously long for you to get the money transferred or card issued that it drains further. You wait on crazy long hold times to get a rep who tells you all kinds of crazy things you have to do to get the issue resolved. Meanwhile continuing to drain the account down. They say to protect against fraud but it is actually to protect their fraud. Employers shame on you tying your unknowing employees up with this disgusting operation. Health Equity is right, they make equity of your Health. Don't use the money they get to make more draining it.
