Watch out for their Territory managers.

They onboarded me as a 1099 life and health insurance agent (all of which I paid) and two months later the territory manager Larry Roth sent an email he'll tell healthmarkets to terminate my contract. (N. California)

The management is completely opaque, you will never know anybody higher than your territory manager and sales manager. And those are your only two managers.

I searched everywhere for any corporate numbers for healthmarkets and any phone number just leads to the 'live transfer line' which is where an agent will pick up waiting to make a sale.

Which is why the territory manager was angry and wanted to terminate me in the first place, because I onboarded over the Christmas break (and Open Enrollment Period) and all their offices were on break. My sales manager in that time as part of my training helped me get health insurance and assign myself as its agent. I wanted to change something on my plan and I had no one to talk to due to the holiday. So I called healthmarkets live transfer line to talk to an agent and see if they could help me understand my insurance. For this the territorial manager (Larry Roth) literally emailed me and said he'll recommend to healthmarkets that they terminate my contract. I thought this was a very extreme reaction. After thinking why, I think it's because healthmarkets forces each agent to pay $20-$40 per lead, the most expensive being nothing more than calls that come in from the live transfer line. Which as I said despite publishing many different phone numbers they route any call to the live transfer line, including their so-called corporate phone number. So a caller literally has no option but talk to an agent that thinks they paid $40 for a high quality lead.

After he sent this email, he must have told all the coworkers at healthmarkets to not email me either because I sent them emails asking for support but never got an email from anyone. Worse than that, the territorial manager deliberately left my account fully and completely open to this day probably to see if I will do anything malicious in it so he can report it as more evidence.

Despite 6 months of my time training, passing for the life and health insurance license, passing half a dozen background checks, certifying with dozens of Covered California and Medicare carriers, this territory manager writes me two emails with a few lines of text and decides he will "recommend healthmarkets terminate your contract, sorry it didn't work out". This territory manager either has a mental illness, intellectually unfit for his position, or was developing a swift personal bias against me and I had no idea at the time. He does not respect the time and legal requirements it takes for a person to become an agent. He has no respect for that at all which is evident in this case. For those that need it, to file a complaint about healthmarkets, they are a marketing subsidiary of UHC. You can file a complaint with them and the CDI Commissioner.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE….Stephen Holtz in Elkhart

Used Stephen Holtz in Elkhart, IN
Horrible customer service!!! Takes forever to reply to you …if he does. I have never been treated in such a horrible manner as a customer in my life. Every time I called I was told he did not have time to talk to me, he had other clients that he had to help first. Called November 1, 2025 for help with my 2026 insurance and as of late December 2025, he still was not able to make time to help me.
UPDATE 1/23/2026…ALSO TOLD ME I DID NOT HAVE TO CALL AND CANCEL THE 2025 PLAN (as I found a new agent and started my 2026 insurance)…SAID TO JUST NOT PAY THE PREMIUM AND IT WILL TERMINATE!! NOT TRUE. I AM NOW WORKING WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR A $2200 BILL I RECEIVED FOR THE POLICY NOT BEING CANCELLED. Keep in mind…I already PAID the insurance premium for the new 2026 insurance. 😡 I have reported him to Marketplace.

Called the phone number

Called the phone number, asked to speak to a specific agent in the Savannah, GA office who had been recommended to me. Person on phone ignored my question, just repeated "How can I help you?", when I once again asked how I could contact the specific person in Savannah, the male person on the phone just hung up on me. TERRIBLE SERVICE FROM THAT MAN!!!

" Do not trust Health Markets, period "

I can only speak from my experiences with this company, which we do not trust after what they did to us.
The only reason I am giving my review 1 star, is just to get my review in, this is what happened to me and my wife in 2024.
At the present time, my wife is 73, I'm 69.
We had Humana as our medical insurance for at least 2 decades, when Health Markets sent this Mr. Jose Torres according to his boss Mr. Frank Liskovec to re-affirm their information on us.
This was on a Friday.
He spent about 2 hrs. with us, we never spoke of changing our insurance, Mr. Torres never mentioned any other insurance. Guess what?
The following Monday, I found out that Mr. Torres, without our knowledge, much less our approval or consent had switched us to another medical insurance we never heard of.
My wife and me went without medical coverage for 6 months, before we could return to Humana.
Not Mr. Torres, his boss Mr. Liskovec or Health Markets ever even had the decency to apologize.
And just this past Monday, 10/27/2025 this Mr. Torres Had the nerve, the guts to call my wife, asking if he could make an appointment to see us.
My advice to whomever is reading my review is this, since this is the way, this company treats senior citizens;
" Save yourself a lot of anger and bad times, stay away from this circus call Health Markets Insurance Agency, located at 1400 E. Toughy rd. in Desplaines, Il., or at least from these 2 clowns, Frank Liskovec and Jose Torres, they are just not trustworthy".
Thank you for reading my review.

Vincent Larocca does not pay his bills

Vincent Larocca does not pay his bills. Instead he goes through a lawyer who demands receipts and offers a fraction of the total bill after the work has been completed. While you may feel you were over charged Vincent. What you fail to realize is the contractor had to pay for materials out of his pocket and pay his employee. What you are paying for is the convenience of not having to do it yourself. How many trips up and down ladder Remove Cover ( one up one down). Remove light bulb ( one up one down for each bulb). Replace light bulb (one up one down for each light) Replace cover (one up one down ) and having to precariously place ladder to get to lights. Disposal of old lights as not to break them and release things into the air that you should not breath in. SHAME ON YOU!
Pay your bill you arrogant prick. Because someone else has already had to.

I pray this company goes completly…

I pray this company goes completly bankrupt to never resurrect! I called once to check rates for possible near future coverage; I have been constantly daily harassed with calls for several months despite speaking with mangers to get me "on a do not call list".
They keep calling anyways. ZERO RESPECT of people's free will to NOT be CALLed. Plain evil business driven just by corporate profits with complete disregard of customer care and service.

I WILL NEVER DO ANY BUSINESS WITH HEALTHMARKETS, EVEN IF THEY WOULD GIVE ME LOWEST QUOTE.

FUGG YOU, HELLMARKETS! STOP FUGGING CALLING ME!

Scam or fake company

This company must be fake. We completed a medicare enrollment for my dad online. 2 weeks later and still no calls or any letters about the plan we picked. We checked Medicare.gov and they never enrolled my dad, what did they do with his personal information? We called Aetna today and completed the enrollment ourselves.

Terrible

I had an interview at the time, then the recruiter and management acted extremely unprofessionally. I had an interview that was postponed then the day of the interview the lady, Alessandra Fonseca, said she would call me and then never called. Very unprofessional. No communication or any effort to postpone to another date or any effort on her part…. Shows the lack of professionalism of the company as a whole if they employ people like her and that’s how they treat potential employees. Run from this place .

They only care about making the sale

Avoid this company. Our agent advised us incorrectly how to setup insurance using Washington State’s insurance exchange. Our insurance ended up costing almost three times more than he quoted. When we contacted our agent for assistance resolving the setup problems, he never responded.

My broker Carlos R Hernandez

My broker Carlos R. Hernandez signed me up for Cigna health insurance. At least I thought he did.
After months of waiting and multiple phone calls, I never received ID cards. I could not log into mycigna, com. I could not log into the Colorado marketplace at connectforhealthco.com. Turns out Carlos entered my information incorrectly. My zip code was wrong. My address was wrong. My email was wrong. After multiple phone calls to Cigna and the Colorado Marketplace, I was finally able to track down all of these errors. I told Carlos. He invited me to find another broker. That is the only good advice Carlos provided!

My yearly Insurance checkup.

I have been working with Brittany Robichaud since November of 2018. And I just got through with my yearly insurance check up and as usual Britney was excellent. She has a wonderful personality and makes you feel comfortable asking Maybe, silly questions! The thing that I value the most is that you don't feel rushed and if you have a question she will go to Great depths to find the answer. And if she can't find it while you're in the office I promise you she will find it! You just feel very assured that she knows her business very well! Thanks Brittany, you never let me down! Keep up the good work! We're lucky to have you.

Run away from HealthMarkets

Do not fill out any applications. I filled out one while searching for a new health insurance plan and highly regret it. The day after I submitted my application, I received 76 calls from different agents, starting as early as 6:10 am and continuing until 5 pm PT (California). Honestly, I became overwhelmed with such 'service.' The next day, I received 28 calls. Four days later, I am still receiving calls. In conclusion, I haven't chosen a new plan. Agents are pressuring you to buy a new plan right away, but I need a plan to cover 2024. I don't want to pay extra for two months. Their goal is just to sell a plan, whether it fits my needs or not. I feel like I'm surrounded by aggressive sellers, similar to the experience with pushy sellers in Eastern Europe.

I contacted HealthMarkets and requested to remove my application, but unfortunately, they had already sold my data to third parties, and it's impossible to stop it. So, think twice before sharing your data with HealthMarkets. If you need a health insurance plan, just find a few local agents and work with them. Do not work with Health Markets!!!

Signs it is Time to Fire Your Insurance…

Signs it is Time to Fire Your Insurance Agent
Carl could care less about his customers!
I made the appointment a month in advance. I confirmed it a week ahead of time.

When the time came for my meeting he wasn't there. In fact, he went on vacation without rescheduling. He sent a vacation response without adding a new person to meet with me.

Sabrina then took care of the application. Next, I had a question, I called to follow up and they got offended. They were offended because he said his reimbursement rate was too low- It was only $15.00.

He felt I was demanding to follow up a day later. I feel I should be able to ask a question and follow up with a call. Apparently, he wants the money without any customer service.

We are not a fit. I have removed him as an agent.
