Avoid buying hedging from this company

Having bought multiple bare root hedging plants from this company, it became apparent on planting that almost half of the plants didn’t look at all healthy - numbers of them were spindly with many dead branches which had been wrapped in with healthier plants. Some of the plants show no life at all (showing brown rather than green when scraped with fingernail). I raised this with the Plant Office in person and via email numerous times. Each time I was asked for more photos and information, eventually leading to being offered a ‘goodwill gesture’ to replace some (not all) plants provided I pay for them at half price and collect them (a 60 mile round trip).
Do NOT buy bare root / hedging from this company. Their assumption is you’re wrong, you’re dishonest and know nothing about plants. They clearly have no regard whatsoever for customer service or repeat business. AVOID!

Do not buy mail order from Buckingham Nurseries

I’ve been a regular customer for almost eight years but this time, customer service for a mail order was shocking. I’ve paid £65 for twenty half sized yew plants. Publicised as 20-30 cm; notified that they would be smaller but many of the plants are only 12-14 cm. I tried to be conciliatory; made an offer but no movement. We could return the plants at our cost (we’re over 300 miles away). This is on a £350 order. It’s also a breach of contract.

The manager said his/her hands were tied.

I’ve written glowing reviews on their site before but now I’d say never buy online from Buckingham Nurseries.

A family run business being let down by their choice of delivery company.

Russell is the name of the person I dealt with who is great!!
YOUR DELIVERY COMPANY SOVEREIGN TRANSPORT from Liverpool are letting you down Russel!!
Why use them? The buck stops with YOU!!!
Have you seen ALL their negative feedback on Google and trustpilot? WOW....SO MANY!!!
They agreed to deliver on Weds 12th Nov 2025. Didn't turn up, and didn't call to let us know. So after we called them asking how much longer were they going to be, had an excuse about a driver not turning up so they agreed the following morning Thursday 13th... but didn't turn up AGAIN!!!
I had to say I would cancel the £3,200.00 order of conifers if they didn't make it on Thursday afternoon..

Russell made a few phone calls and made it happen... but we were out as they couldn't give a time, and they were dumped on the small front driveway..... pallets and pallets of 6ft conifer trees blocking my Mother's access into the house with her stroller because the driver had no common sense to put them around the back or on the front lawn.
What IS the world coming to eh?
If they had delivered when they said they were delivering on both days... my contractors would have been there to move them!!
Spend a bit more on a delivery company that CARES Russell and is a lot more PROFESSIONAL, as sadly you will not receive any more business from me if you don't!!
Have tried calling numerous times to discuss... both lanline and mobile numbers keep going to voicemail.

Great plants

Needed 70 hedging plants in 9cm pots (Euonymus Jean Hughes). Slightly apprehensive of placing such a large order unseen, I emailed to check on height of plants before placing an order and received a very helpful reply including photos. Plants arrived next day and were well packed in lots of damp newspaper, bushy and healthy, a little pot-bound maybe but not a problem. A week or so after planting out they are thriving. Overall a great experience and a very happy customer.

Poor Customer Service and Aftercare.

They don't handle complaints well and will do everything possible to fob you off. I have had plants that have arrived damaged and also not true to type and they blame it on everything from wind direction, sun position and growing patterns. They are reluctant to admit fault and therefore their customer service suffers. It's like talking to a brick wall at times. They also create a big fuss about making you pay to return an item and making sure it arrives back to them in saleable condition. The reality is they don't send plants out securely enough in the first place. I would urge people to shop elsewhere to avoid the endless hassle I have had to experience.

WARNING Without a doubt the worst…

WARNING Without a doubt the worst company I have used. I cannot belief how bad their customer service is, they are not interested that they dont fulfil your order with what you actually ordered or that plants are far smaller than advertised but still charge the same, or indeed that when delivered "yes they look a bit battered but they will be ok" end of they think saying sorry once makes everything better and the plants magically grow into what you purchased AVOID AVOID AVOID

Great service
