Awful - overcharged (& not refunded), sofa bed (not bed), cramped room
We stayed at the Holiday Inn at Crick near J18 of the M1. We had three issues with this place.
1. I booked a standard twin room. The room was very small. There was one bed & one pull out sofa bed. You expect a bed in a hotel not a rather thin sofa bed, with no bedside table or bedside light.
2. They had run out of a large part of their advertised menu so the choice was very limited.
3. On arrival the receptionist took a pre-payment of £200. We didn't charge any extra expenses, so I expected to be charged £117.90 (for the basic room, no breakfast) & receive the refund. Nothing was said about any possible delay on the refund when we checked out. I called the next day & asked why I had not received the refund & was told it could take ten working days but generally it was refunded within three or four days. I called again after a week to be told I have no choice but to wait for the full fortnight. When I said I would reflect this in a review & make a formal complaint she twigged she needed to do something so said she would investigate, She took my name & the date of the stay, established how much I am owed ...... & then said the refund would be made after the ten days. On what planet is that an investigation? Terrible communication & customer service. Waste of time & very unsatisfactory. Two weeks on I am still waiting for the repayment & would not recommend this place.
Quality has gone down and price has gone up.
We have been loyal Priority Club members for more than 40 years. HI is the only place we stayed. That has changed. We do big road trips at least twice per year.
The beds are harder and the rooms are noisier, not to mention the quality and disrepair of the accomodations. The quality of the breakfast has also declined The last 3 HIExpress rooms were awful. Last night there was loud traffic noise all night and we couldn't get the AC fan to run continuously to block out the noise. We are trying new places for the remainder of our trip.
Great location, warm hospitality and great price!
We stayed at the Stockport location. The hotel is superbly placed for transport links and was immensely clean with really pleasant stuff. We give a special mention to Pauline and Michelle who were in charge of helping you at breakfast - they were so friendly as well most of the staff. Would really recommend this hotel.
Every time I stay at this hotel there…
Every time I stay at this hotel there is one person in the Kitchin wait time 2 hours for food total joke and never changes just get told sorry
Stayed at HIE Barrow in Furness Fri to…
Stayed at HIE Barrow in Furness Fri to Mon for leisure and had a very pleasurable stay. All the staff from reception, to bar and restaurant, to housekeeping and maintenance are some of the nicest people I've ever met. Always ready to answer questions or be helpful, always cheerful and on task to do so. One staff person particularly stood out, Chris, who went above and beyond to give me a hand with a couple of things I could not manage on my own. His assistance was a fine example of the HIE ethos of hospitality that HIE strives for and customers can rely on.
The restaurant was very clean, the food fresh and of a wide variety cooked and prepared to a high standard, and served in the dining area with huge windows that let in a lot of Autumnal sunlight.
My room was near the elevators, as I requested when booking. Much appreciated.
I had quality sleep as my corridor was very quiet, and was never disturbed because I used the Green door sign for housekeeping and took care of my own bits and pieces. My room was just standard but well kept and clean, although there weren't any drawers for clothes, and the small movable table was a bit small for my workspace needs. I very much appreciated that my room window opened a bit to let in fresh air!
I ate several meals in the restaurant, met nice guests and visitors, and had a nice time.
I recommend the Barrow in Furness HIE for anyone coming to Barrow for sightseeing, leisure, business or work activity. And children and dogs are welcome, a bonus for those guests who travel with them.
Just checked in to Express on M27
Just checked in to Express on M27, only to be ripped off for £7.00 parking, booked through Trivago and did not mention it, only 7 quid, but what a rip off, as usual. Will not be using Hi again, fed up with hidden extra charges
A disgrace to Hottellery business
Like everyone else, I was trapped on Monday, but refused to endure the same indignity on Tuesday. I walked a mere 50 meters to the Novotel across the street, which boasts a proper restaurant with a menu that actually honors French culinary standards. A stark contrast to the embarrassment next door.
To charge nearly €300 per night—likely exploiting the K-fair—is nothing short of opportunistic. Guests, don’t be fooled. Look around. There are better options within arm’s reach. This place is a disgrace to hospitality.
Unacceptable Holiday Inn…
Unacceptable Start at Holiday Inn Express on Moore's Lane, Brentwood, TN
My planned three-night stay was cut short after the first night because the room quality was completely unsatisfactory. My first negative encounter was coming in the side door to my room and seeing 50 plus Cigarette butts in front on the bench. The conditions were so poor that I was forced to check out immediately and scramble to find new accommodation.
The Second Disappointment at Carruthers Lane
Holiday Inn on Carruthers Lane, Brentwood, TN
Hoping for a much-improved experience, I moved here. Unfortunately, my relief was short-lived. The initial room assigned to me was terrible, leading to a second night of stress.
The Core Issue: toilet paper and towel hook hanging by one screw. Bathroom overall was terrible. While I appreciate the manager's efforts by moving me to another decent normal room, the fact remains that I had to deal with significant quality control issues, move hotels once, and change rooms a second time all during a trip to attend a funeral. This lack of quality control across two separate properties is unacceptable and unacceptable for the Holiday Inn brand.
Not I am not impressed with Holiday Inn…
Not I am not impressed with Holiday Inn Stratford.
I normally choose Holiday In as I have been an IHG member for years.
I did a booking around 11.00pm last night.
Only to find a hotel nearer to where I am attending a meeting.
So the next day around 10.45am not a full 24hrs I cantact booking .com to cancel.
Only to be told no by Holiday Inn and they would charge me £199.00 for the cancellation and would not accept any form of leancy.
I find this unacceptable especially as I am flooded with emails thanking me for being a loyal customer.
How about Holiday Inn being loyal to it's customer.
Very poor service 😢
Pass on Holiday inn Nashville Spencer lane
Stayed at Nashville HI express Spence Lane, outside looked nice but that was all. The room was musty and smelled like dirty carpeting which it was.
. Bath floor was dirty toilet flushed really slow & sluggish like. Sink didn’t drain well at all however water in shower was nice & hot. AC wasn’t on when we arrived & only 1 of the key cards worked. Further down the hall from us the ceiling was leaking & continued for at least 2 hours with someone finally bringing a shop vac at 10 pm to clean it up! Ice machine appeared dirty & crusted with something. In pool area they were evidently having sewage issues & had plugged a pipe with a towel appeared the leak from upstairs had dripped into the pool area. Front desk staff was friendly & pleasant just wish location was a nice as she was!
Holiday Inn Express - Mill Valley, CA
Wanna be treated like dirt by the staff, woken up by consistent pounding on your door despite having hung the do not disturb sign on the handle, be ensconced by an odor of feet so profound that the smell of the low tide next door is preferable, be refused entry despite having your name on the reservation because the desk worker is confused by the other name on the reservation, have "free wifi" that doesn't work at all in a "tech town," an inexplicable double bed room when you booked a king and not be compensated for it, use a moldy and grimey bathroom the size of an airplane toilet and be woken up by the piercing shriek of the fire alarm only to be told by the desk staff that there's "probably not" a fire in the hotel? Well come on down to the Mill Valley Holiday Inn Express! This can all be yours for the high high price of $1300 for a awful 4-night stay in a garbage town barely adjacent to San Francisco!!! Will the bed be too soft for anyone to sleep in? You bet! Will the pillows feel like either a bowl full of jelly or hard hard rocks? Oh yeah! Will you get chronic neck pain from this horrible set up? Yes you will! Will it be freezing? No doubt! Will the heat work? Not really! Will the heater exude a smell so foul its as if Satan himself appeared in your room? You know it! You can experience all this and worse at the good ol' Holiday Inn Express in Mill Valley, California. Where everyone is a millionaire, has a Tesla and no one is polite, not even a little bit! Disgusting! Tragic! Terrible! All words to describe this horrible stay in the worst place on earth!
Holiday Inn Express London Greenwich
A one night stay at the Holiday Inn express - London Greenwich. A seamless booking process, the hotel was clean, beds comfortable, check in quick and easy. Had to pay extra to park the car but that’s not unusual for London. Breakfast was ok, not excellent but fair. A great location as a base to see a concert at the o2.
Amazing staff
My company booked an accessible room for one night at the Basildon park hotel, and there were some issues. So, I spoke with Georgina from reception and she was amazingly helpful and got me more of what I needed to make it easier for me. I headed to the bar for dinner I needed more information on their gluten-free options, Thayn was exceedingly helpful, ensured me from start to finish he would handle my order to make sure there was no gluten cross contamination. I was able to eat with the peace of mind I deserved. Extremely helpful and highly recommended!! Go and pay them a visit, you wouldn't be disappointed.
I must add, the accessibility of the hotel is questionable, the flooring choice in the accessible room requires an inspection, tiles have no grip and cannot be deemed accessible. Although, I could manoeuvre throughout the hotel, the doors are heavy and not automatic. Carpets throughout make it challenging to propel and the fact they only have baths and not wet rooms is questionable.
Fantastic Experience
Had a 2 night stay at Holiday Inn Express- Bodmin Victoria whilst visiting family.
Clean, spacious room with sound proofing which kept out all noise from A30 dual carriageway.
Amazing choice of inclusive breakfast.
All staff members were very friendly and professional and always on hand to help with any queries.
Highly recommend and will definitely stay here again if visiting the area.

Scam!
Scam!! Holiday Inn Express Dallas Downtown
After departure they charged $100 to my credit card.
Customer service contacted the hotel and they claim I left a stain in the carpet. In a room without any carpets!
They seem to compensate relatively low fares with such kind of behavior.
Never IHG again and I will warn the large duty travel community of our company accordingly.
Avoid Avoid Avoid dont book with them
Booked for 2 days at holiday inn east Kilbride wont let me cancel 4 days ahead due to severe weather warning not to travel unless necessary, they don't care about warnings and passed from 4 different people back to one i started with. No one will help. Avoid never book with them.
Shambles from day one
Shambles from day one! Firstly i booked a double bed with 2 single beds as it was 2 grown men sharing. Booked in, went to our room to find one double bed, when i complained i was told they did not have a room with 2 single beds so basically, take it or leave it! We arranged things in the room to accommodate our selfs, woke up on Saturday to the entire floor being flooded with water. We complained and a member of staff called Daniel used the excuse that the roof was leaking, good one, we were in a ground floor bedroom with a room above us. There answer was to give us towels to put on the floor which were soaking withing seconds. One of the people in the room has severe asthma which this did not help, the staff are clueless! Then late on Saturday i was challenged to a fight at the bar by someone who wasnt even staying in the hotel, he had been allowed to get drunk at the bar and was eventually asked to leave. They really dont care about customers. They have 48 hours to initiate a refund or i will see them in small claims court!
Holiday Inn Newport
Stopped off at the Holiday Inn Newport to use the bar facilities for lunch. Spent the first five or ten mins trying to get staff attention to serve me, they were too busy chatting in the office without a care for anyone else. I was going to let it go but with the terrible customer service I eventually got I had no idea I was supposed to register my car in for car park, staff didn't mention it and I ended up with a £60 parking fine bonus for using the Holiday Inn Newport facilities. Thanks Holiday Inn Newport!
Robbed
Absolutely robbed at Luton Airport. It took so long to check in that I got a parking ticket for parking in the Holiday Inn car park. Never ever ever again will I spend a single penny with this shower.
