Tasteless

Bought the porcini spinach rolls. Tasteless bland and very overpriced for what they are. I won't be buying again. For the money quorn is far tastier offers a filling snack and isn't overpriced either. The card board tray they came in probably had more taste than the actual rolls. Overpriced for what they actually are

Higgidy Cheddar and Leicester cheese…

Higgidy Cheddar and Leicester cheese and chutney rolls .... pathetic concoction of soggy pastry and tasteless filling ....barely worth 50p let alone £2:50 on Sainsbury's offer. You should be ashamed to offer such a unfulfilling product 👎👎👎

Hi Martin,

We're really sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the Mature Cheddar & Caramelised Onion Chutney Rolls you recently tried. It definitely sounds as though this particular recipe has not met our usual Higgidy standard and this is something we'd like to look into in more detail.

If you could get in touch with us through our website we can sort this issue out together.

Very best wishes,
Cydney

Huge shrinkage!! 😡

I have always loved the spinach, feta and pine nut Higgidy pie . It has been a firm favourite. It was never a cheap pie option but I felt it was worth it. Not any more though. They have reduced the size of it so much that it takes up only half the box.
Did they think their customers wouldn’t notice?

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for getting in touch. We're sorry to hear that you’re disappointed with the size of our new range of pies.

At the beginning of the year, we set out to improve our pies. There were a few aspects we wanted to address, firstly the aim was to make our most delicious pie range yet, but we had also received a lot of feedback about the size of our pies. Therefore, we decided to reduce the portion size to align to the majority of the market -  the perfect portion for one -  but importantly keeping the price per 100g the same. This means that although the pies are now smaller, they are more affordable.

Our box dimensions were adjusted as part of the launch of our new pie range. All our meat pies feature a pastry lid, which necessitated an increase in the box height to accommodate the pies securely. For consistency across our product lines, we opted to use the same packaging size for our vegetable pies as for the meat pies. This has resulted in a slight gap between the pie and the top of the box in our vegetable pie packaging.

We hope this provides more clarity around the recent changes. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Very best wishes,
Cydney

Spinach, feta and pine nut pie - major disapointment

Shame on you. Spinach, feta and pine nut pie was a favorite but has been shrunk to a pitiful size. 250 to 200 so 20% of my pie gone. Now too small for a decent meal and rattles around in the box. Major disappointment on xmas day - I will not be buying Higgidy pies from now on.

Hi Bell,

Thank you for getting in touch. We're sorry to hear that you’re disappointed with the size of our new range of pies.

At the beginning of the year, we set out to improve our pies. There were a few aspects we wanted to address, firstly the aim was to make our most delicious pie range yet, but we had also received a lot of feedback about the size of our pies. Therefore, we decided to reduce the portion size to align to the majority of the market - the perfect portion for one - but importantly keeping the price per 100g the same. This means that although the pies are now smaller, they are more affordable.

We also focused on improving the taste of our pies to ensure they were more delicious than ever before and we’ve upgraded a few of our ingredients, switching to an all-butter shortcrust pastry for a richer taste. This change also eliminates the use of palm oil in our pies. Furthermore, we’ve started incorporating a small amount of regenerative flour, which we plan to increase over time.

We hope this provides more clarity around the recent changes. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Very best wishes,
Cydney

Pies shrunk and no longer filling

The size of the pies have shrunk 50 grams! that's quite a lot and the quality has also gone downhill. the box is the same size to fool you of course! so it is no longer filling enough to have by itself with a side salad. what was my fave supermarket pie company has now forced me to leave for a different brand. what a shame

Higgidy porcini mushroom and spinach quiche

Such a delicious quiche. Well filled in really crispy pastry. I was so pleased as some quiche can be very eggy. This was mouthful after mouthful of tasty, meaty, flavoursome filling. I would strongly recommend.

Shrinkflation Alert! Higgidy Pies.

Higgidy Spinach, Pine Nut and Fetta Pies. A noticeably small product offered in the same size packaging ( to the point where the pie is barely visible rattling around in the bottom of the windowed carton).

I did tackle the company about this but received a nonsensical and self serving response alleging that the changes were in response to "Customer feedback'.

I'm sure Higidy's seemingly rapidly diminishing customer base are absolutely baying to pay the same amount of money for a signicantly reduced product. Let's face who wouldn't be...?

Let's not forget that ultimately customers have a choice and being regarded as gullible by a company doesn't really foster brand loyalty..'not with me anyway.

Goodbye Higgidy, it was nice ('ish) while it lasted....

20% less pie - same price !!!…

The range of Higgidy pies has recently been relaunched as “improved”. Well the only improvement I can see is in the profit margin for the company as although the price is virtually the same, the pie weight has reduced from 250g to 200g. Nice of them to reduce the main part of my dinner by 20%, think I might be buying something else next time.

Spinach, feta & pine nut pie

Spinach, feta and pine nut pie used to be delicious and worth every penny. Now is much smaller and doesn’t taste anywhere near as nice. Won’t be buying anything Higgidy again..have the audacity to charge the same for something much smaller

Is it truly an “improved recipe”?

I used to love Higgidy pies but the “new improved recipe” spinach & feta pie is merely smaller and the pastry is not as good as it was, in my opinion.

Really disappointed and I certainly won’t be buying these again.

The company can improve by excluding…

The company can improve by excluding "Sustainable Palm Oil", which actually doesn't exist.
I noticed it is on the list of ingredients of a quiche I saw in the supermarket. I would have thought better of Higgidy.
There is no such thing as Sustainable Palm oil.
They and other companies try to get away with this by claiming that they use RSPO palm oil.
Dear people reading this: this is absolute tosh and Higgidy know this.
If I could include the research on this, I would, but there is no facility for me to do it.
It is about time that all food and other product manufacturers stopped this dreadfully damaging practice.
It is all about making as much money as possible, to the detriment of the planet and the people it affects.
If you don't believe me, look it up.

Claims to be beef and ale but no beef to be found

Bought a beef and ale pie thinking as it was twice the price of all the other pies it would have a decent amount of meat in it. I'm not kidding you there was not one single piece of beef! Found one or two small lumps of carrot and the rest was gravy. Very disappointed.

Higgidy's Porcini Mushroom & Spinach…

Higgidy's Porcini Mushroom & Spinach Rolls - I remember the first time I tired these and thought I'd never tasted anything so delicious. Bought them a second time, and they were no where near as good. I put this down to a bad batch and so decided to give them another try.. nope, absolutely tasteless and whats more, they look like they're filled but when you bite into them, the inside is empty! The only filling is on the outside, so it appears that there is filling inside. The price tag is high, and I honestly shouldn't have spent so much on 6 tiny rolls.. even more disappointing that they did not live up to expectations. High price low quality.

No response re non-food materials in the quiche

I found some non-food materials in the vegan tomato quiche (looked like strips of wood so quite dangerous if swallowed). I contacted Higgidy and initially got a good response from the support desk. They asked for more information, and said they would pay postage and recompense if I returned the item - which I did. I also sent them photos which they said they would pass to their technical team.
That was back in October.
I have chased several times but have had no response at all and no refunds of item or postage.
I really liked the vegan quiche but do not feel comfortable buying it again as there is no reassurance that manufacturing issues are being resolved.

Higgedy spinach and red pepper mini…

Higgedy spinach and red pepper mini vegan muffins. Possibly the worst thing I’ve put in my mouth. Ever. And I’ve dated some dodgy guys.
Taste…nil.
Mouth feel..,wallpaper paste.
They don’t even look pretty.
Sorry, Higgedy. Some of your stuff is pretty good. But these? Ick.

POOR customer service

Whilst Higgidys pies are delicious, I am reviewing as I was disappointed with their response to an issue I had. I found a sewing pin in a mouthful of pie, which I reported to them with all the images requested; pin/packaging dates etc. I was told I would receive some information when they had looked into it plus vouchers for some products... However I never heard again despite chasing it up. Not something I have the time or inclination to keep doing - so the review seemed the only way to express annoyance and being taken for granted as a customer in what must be a difficult market!

Hideously overpriced... cheddar & onion chutney rolls. 2 tiny rolls per pack 2 mouth fulls each... 40p a bite! Shocking.. tasted good but won't buy again at this over inflated price.
