Won a bottle for £85, by the time you add delivery, commission and their extortionate insurance fee (£16) the bottle is pretty much 50% extra. Will certainly avoid using in future - there are better value alternatives out there.

Edit - it’s really the insurance element which is pushing the extras to nearly 50% of the bottle. I don’t understand why its so high when there are other mainstream auctions are at around 3-3.5%….so perhaps Highland Whisky Auctions are being selective with their response choosing to focus their attention on the other charges but insurance, unfortunately, is needed in this day and age and adds to the total cost. As i said there are better value options out there.

As with many auctions sites, the add on costs quickly reduce the sense of satisfaction with the hammer price. Fine if your looking for something specific, but unlikely to get many bargains unless you are buying several bottles or can collect.

I have only recently discovered Highland Whisky Auctions. I have a small whisky collection at the moment and have been growing this overtime. I got chatting to Mike about this and he passed me on to Olly for some advice on what I needed to have an attractive sellable collection. The knowledge and help has been second to none and I cannot speak highly enough of both Mike & Olly & would highly recommend any whisky drinker/collector to get in touch with these guys.

I’ve been buying and selling my cars with Mike at Town and County for several years, and he’s always been a genuine guy. His prices are fair, and he’s always willing to help you find exactly what you need. Recently, I started buying whisky from him as well, been doing that for about a year now. As someone who’s been drinking and collecting whisky for years, it has got tougher to find certain bottles, but Mike has come to the rescue more than once, sourcing some really hard-to-find bottles I’ve been searching for.
