Scam! Beware

I am convinced that this company is using KYC excuses to avoid customers from withdrawing and them just keeping your funds. I have 171 Monero on HITBTC, I have provided them all my documents, and they always come with a new request. Originaly I have sent 177.24998996 Monero there, now I have 171 due to inactivity fees, however even though I cannot access it. I am planning to file a lawsuit against them. The financial authority of St Vicent and the Grenadines, where they are registered, has issued a warning against them.

How HitBTC Froze My $50,000

I am a freelancer, webmaster, and part-time crypto investor. Since 2017, I have been a client of the HitBTC exchange and successfully passed KYC.

On April 2, 2025, I decided to withdraw my assets from the exchange due to a lack of liquidity to sell my funds at market price. After attempting a withdrawal, my account was restricted, and a message appeared saying I had to verify again.

I followed all the instructions: submitted my international passport, a photo holding the passport with a note showing the date and my email, and a utility invoice from my property management company. The exchange rejected these documents.

I then went to my bank and obtained an official statement with a wet stamp and signature, and sent a photo. Despite their own rules stating that scans or photos are acceptable, they rejected that too.

Later, I obtained an official tax residency certificate (which cost money), digitally signed and linked to the official government website. But after that, they came up with a new requirement: I had to prove the source of the last three deposits to the exchange.

I provided screenshots from the partner program and an invoice. Two USDT transactions were accepted. The third, a 0.2 BTC transaction, was rejected — even though the invoice clearly shows who sent what to whom.

To meet their excessive demands, I hired a lawyer and submitted a partnership agreement that details the contracting parties, the service provided (my work), and the payment method (Bitcoin). I attached all supporting documents.

HitBTC still refused, claiming the invoice lacked a BTC-to-USD conversion rate. Now they demand a new document from the partner company confirming the legality of the payment made in June 2020 — five years ago!

HitBTC is clearly doing everything possible to deny access to my funds. Even the transactions that were accepted remain locked. Upon reviewing their Terms of Service, I realized they accept no legal responsibility and can demand endless paperwork.

This could happen to anyone. Think twice before trusting this platform.

As of now, the amount of my frozen assets is equivalent to approximately $50,000 USD. Upd: WARNING NOTICE –HitBTC / Hitechno Business LTD / HiTech Digital Business Ltd
The Financial Services Authority of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (“the Authority”) hereby notifies the public that the entities HitBTC, Htechno Business Ltd, and HiTech Digital Business Ltd are not registered, nor do they operate from within St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

On November 9, 2023, the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (BVIFSC) formally de-registered HiTech Digital Business Ltd. This action was announced in Public Statement No. 30 of 2023, published on the BVIFSC’s official website – Public Statement 30 of 2023 – HiTech Digital Business Ltd. | British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission. Subsequently, on March 20, 2024, the Authority issued its own Warning Notice against HiTech Digital Business Ltd, which is accessible on the Authority’s official website – Financial Services Authority St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

Following the de-registration and subsequent dissolution of its former BVI entity in 2023, HitBTC began citing Htechno Business Ltd, as its new service provider, claiming it is registered in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. However, this claim is entirely self-reported, and the Authority is confirming that no such entity is registered or operates within this jurisdiction.

The Authority cautions the public that any reliance on the legitimacy of these entities – as presented on their websites such as HitBTC’s “Banking and Legal Information” page – Banking and Legal Information / HitBTC is misleading and fraudulent.

Any documents issued by Htechno Business Ltd, HitBTC, or HiTech Digital Business Ltd claiming incorporation, registration, licensing, or affiliation with the Authority are false and forged. Members of the public are strongly advised not to engage in any business or financial dealings with these entities, as such interactions may expose individuals to fraudulent schemes and financial loss.

AVOID using this SCAM platform

Update: I found out Interpol is the wrong institution for this case. Instead we can report our concern here, in case HitBTC is (according to trustpilot) located in Hongkong:

1. Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC)
Website: www(dot)sfc(dot)hk

2. Hong Kong Consumer Council
Website: www(dot)consumer(dot)org(dot)hk

HitBTC address: Unit 19, 7/F, One Midtown No.11, Hoi Shing Road, Tsuen Wan, New Territories, Hong Kong, Hongkong

I can confirm all those already reported experiences: They let you deposit, but prevent you from withdrawing. My friend made the same experiences. They silently apply an inactivity fee of 50$ per month, deducting those from your funds, equal how much your funds are, without ever informing anyone by email or by platform notification after login, like all other platforms make important announcements. The support just replies with copy/paste messages, but totally doesn't care about treating customers according to the law. Then they are even so brazen that they believe they can justify their criminal activities with their quietly, secretly and also subsequently updated terms of service and point this out below almost every review. Hopefully Interpol takes these scammers down soon, before too many more people get robbed.
Update:
After HitBTC read my shattering review, they requested my personal details via Trustpilot to “better understand my experience and be able to respond”. As if anyone would still value this after several people have had the same experience, described it here and HitBTC has not come a step closer to them, but only keeps trying to justify their illegal business practices! I clearly refuse so that they have no chance of deleting my account in case Interpol takes them to task and confiscates their funds in order to pay them out to the victims.
Update:
Now Trustpilot tries to force me, under threat of deleting my report, to allow them to pass my personal data to this criminal company, and this after we have already read here in the experiences of others that they simply lock people, who report the truth, out of their account. So my worries they could simply delete my account and email is absolutely justified and then a refund by Interpol would be impossible. I would rather have my report deleted, than to have my HitBTC account deleted and lose the chance of ever getting my coins back. In addition, I have contacted HitBTC support often enough about my concern and also warned them that if they do not pay out my coins, I would then use every platform I know to report their illegal activities, which did not impress them at all, according to the motto “once your reputation is ruined, you can live a completely carefree life”.
Update:
I just wanted to try again to withdraw my coins, but had to find out, that HitBTC just took them, likely as their illegal inactivity fee, But there is no record about what happened with it. Luckily I took a screenshot just a few days ago. Now I'll find out further steps.
And by the way: It is just not true, that I've been inactive for 6 months, because regularly every or every second month I used their app, checked my sell order or even changed my sell order, but they evaluate you as inactive, if you didn't make a trade for 6 months. But who trades coins, which are currently super low, didn't move much since more than one year and were supposed to be sold with a few 100% profit?
Reply to HitBTC:
To specify your illegal activities within your terms and conditions and point this out below each review doesn't legalize those. First: I'm trading at many platforms and none of them takes an inactivity fee and second: If you make such major changes in your terms and conditions, YOU HAVE TO INFORM YOUR CUSTOMERS NOT ONLY BY EMAIL, BUT ALSO BY A NOTIFICATION AFTER ENTERING YOUR PLATTFORM, BUT BOTH YOU DIDN'T AND YOU CAN NOT PREVENT PEOPLE FROM WITHDRAWING THEIR FUNDS AND THEN CONFISCATE THEM!!! AND WHAT EVER YOU WRITE IN YOUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS: THIS IS ROBBERY AND ROBBERY IS ILLEGAL, IN CASE U DIDN'T KNOW THAT!

Scammers — if you still can, run from HitBTC!

This exchange bans users for speaking the truth or posting any negative feedback, and deletes posts — including on Twitter, Reddit and another.
HitBTC delisted my token without any prior notice on their platform or social media.
When I attempted to withdraw, they demanded a fee equivalent to $500, based on an artificially low price — while the real market price on another exchange is much higher.
Despite providing proof and clear explanations to their support team, I received only generic, meaningless replies that ignored common sense.
If you still have funds, I strongly advise you to withdraw them as soon as possible - while you can still do so, I unfortunately can no longer withdraw mine :(

Hello. HitBTC withdrawal fees are flat. The rates do not depend on the withdrawal amount, so the fee amount won’t change even if you withdraw a large sum. This system offers our traders significant savings on withdrawal costs.

Hi. Please note that HitBTC is a custodial exchange platform. Some technical features of our platform required us to have separate addresses for ETH and ERC20 tokens back at the time. This transaction delivered ETH to an address that was designed to receive ERC20 tokens for your account on our platform. That is why additional manual operations should have been performed and the fee was charged from the amount of the deposit.
I'm sorry to see this situation is causing an inconvenience, but this is just how our platform worked at the time.

Steer far away. Find an alternative.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said.

This group appear to be an absolute scam.

I've been strung along for weeks with customer support.

My username and password are valid. My 2FA token has expired. I haven't logged in for ages, so I had to connect with customer support to renew my 2FA.

They've asked for banking information, transaction history, my full passport, a selfie picture with their most recent email legibly on screen behind me, utility bills and statements to my house for proof of address, etc.

I have provided EVERY SINGLE THING they've asked for. Yet they continue to ask for more. Worse, they ask for things one email at a time, so it takes weeks on end to "verify" yourself because they string the next ask a few days behind the previous one.

Absolutely horrid. At this point I want access so I can remove anything/everything I might still have with them and go elsewhere. Rubbish service. Scam platform.

---

Per the reply; I've noticed a theme amongst other reviewers. It seems the process is dragged out to let more time go by, to let more monthly fees be applied to the account. I cannot verify (yet) as I still have not been granted access (8 weeks), but once I gain access I'll see how many charges the account has incurred.

---- Update April 22 ----

Yesterday, I received an email saying they will reinstate the 2FA token so I can access my account within 3-5 business days.

Today, I received a new series of verification emails asking me for, "currencies and amounts, trading pairs, completed and active orders" as well as transaction information and IDs. Without access to the account, these are not possible to provide. They push and delay and chip away at your account with ~$30 monthly fees. A quick Google of "HitBTC Reviews" will show you thousands of people are going through this exact rigamarole to prevent people from accessing their accounts.

HitBTC is a scam!

All my information about HitBTC exchange is absolutely true. I have proof and screenshots.
I can't trade DOGE coins for several months.
I can't withdraw DOGE since 2021.
They have been on maintenance for more than 1000 days!!!
The same situation is with ETC.
All other transactions with all my coins are unavailable to me.
HitBTC applies an inactivity fee. This is illegal under these conditions.
I lost a large sum but I can't get the remaining balance back.
Their contact information is fraudulent. You can see the proof on the official SVGFSA website. I quote:"The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Financial Services Authority (“the Authority”) hereby informs the public that an entity named HiTech Digital Business Ltd is NOT registered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Any reliance on the legitimacy of this company, as portrayed on their website: Banking and Legal Information / HitBTC, (shown in the screenshot provided below), is fraudulent."
I sent a complaint to HitBTC on February 4th.I have still without reply.
Look at their responses. It looks like a joke. These scammers can only quote the rules they add to implement their fraudulent schemes.
But they never answer the following questions.
1. HitBTC does not allow withdrawals for 4 years!!! WHY??? It is absolutely impossible for a decent and honest exchange.
2. HitBTC provides fraudulent contact information on their website. WHY??? Simply because they are afraid of numerous lawsuits.
If you want to wait all your life welcome to HitBTC!
IF YOU WANT TO SAVE YOUR FUNDS STAY AWAY AND TELL EVERYONE ABOUT THESE SCAMMERS!!!

Hitbtc kyc

I deposited money to this crypto exchange to buy 1 token. The exchange requested to pass KYC. I send them documents confirming my income, and the exchange tells me that they are not original. But this cannot be because the documents have the seal of the company that made my transfer, handwritten signatures of the managers. I am also open to sending these documents directly to the exchange office, and certify them with a European notary. I am sure that the funds will be unblocked and this is just some kind of mistake, so I ask the exchange to once again pay attention to my last request Ticket # 1633455. I will definitely keep you updated on the process in the comments below. Thank you.

Can't withdraw my money and KYC gets refused without real reason

I was able to deposit money into my HitBTC account, but after that, they requested KYC, which I submitted more than 15 times, but it was refused, saying that I provided low-quality scans/photos of the documents.
That's not true because the documents were high-quality, and they were accepted by other exchanges for verification and other needs.

I tried to contact their suppport by creating tickets on their website, writing emails but have no response. I cannot withdraw my money. My tickets created on HitBTC are: Ticket#1637055, Ticket#1637584, Ticket#1637269, Ticket#1637266, Ticket#1637055, Ticket#1637591.

I went in to withdraw money, they say go through KYC, the account was blocked, they ask what trading pairs were more than 5 years ago and information about deposits and withdrawals. I reported trading pairs, due to the abundance of transactions I do not know what exactly deposits and withdrawals were on this exchange. They refuse to restore. Then I try to give proof with my KYC and this email in other cryptocurrencies, they refuse too. I think exchange stole my money other cryptomarkets restore account more easy

Stolen coins?

29th of June I got explained (without any notice before) that HitBTC was not supporting PPT anymore, but I was allowed the store them. The 10th of December I wanted to withdraw them, but my 1400 PPT were gone. 'Stolen' by HitBTC as an inactivity fee for not being active for 6 months, but that's not correct. See the print screens. Can't get my coins back. Can't recommend this platform

This is a scam company

This is a scam company. Had 150€ in my account in bitcoin (now valued at 300€), in 12 months they robbed the 300€ by enforcing fake fees.

If banks behaved like this there would be riots.
The most interesting, part, each fee was not taken from my balance, they transferred to another wallet, pure robbery.

Edit: as expected by a scam company answer, they said you have to read their terms of use so I leave you with this "The HitBTC Terms of Use document contains 15,260 words. At an average reading speed of 240 words per minute, it would take approximately 63.5 minutes to read"

Me pedían mail, telf i nombre completo.

Dear HITBTC
As a consumer on websites that have passwords associated with them, whenever there is a problem with a password there are methods to reset it that do not involve giving all this information that they ask me for.
Between September and December 2022 I tried to access my account but I could not access my 2FA keys because my mobile died. As a responsible person, whenever I use a 2FA code I write down the 16-digit code in case I have to reset it one day. In the case of HITBTC I did the same. And curiously it does not work. Now, and given the experience of other users, I know that what HITBTC does is cancel the 2FA of the accounts it wants to appropriate their funds. As I say, for 3 months in 2022 I was fighting to get access to my account by sending all kinds of documents, videos, photos... they even demanded a copy of my wallet!!! it is unheard of. As you can understand, to reset an access password, not everything you ask me is necessary
Moreover, with what right have you blocked my account? To prevent hackers? You are the hackers. So I immediately demand that you give me access to my account, remove the 2FA, because what you are doing is stealing and pressuring users through blackmail, so that they give you confidential information. And there are very strict data protection laws. Are we going to do it nicely or should I put it in the hands of lawyers? I expect an email that gives me access to my account, WITHOUT 2FA (which is what I asked for in 2022 and I am still waiting).
Thank you
