If You Like Defective Bread Loaves Shipped To You With Large Cracks Running Through Them, You'll Love Hobbs!
Thinking about ordering online from Hobbs House Bakery to have bread delivered to your door?
Think again. We've experienced this bakery's home delivery service deteriorate dramatically over the past 2 years.
All told, before the home delivery service plummeted in quality, we had ordered about 100 loaves in different home deliveries. For the first year, the deliveries were fine.
Then, as problems developed with errors and mistakes in their bread deliveries, we were made to feel that we were 'bothering' them when we phoned to ask them to make things right... such as accidentally failing to deliver all of the bread on the same day and slicing loaves which we did not want sliced, for example.
Eventually, in the past two home delivery orders, we were sent loaves of their rye bread which had large cracks running through them which made it impossible to slice them without the bread falling apart into unusable pieces.
There were so many loaves cracked in pieces like this that we now suspect that Hobbs were simply salvaging their cracked, defective loaves by selling them to us at full price because presumably no walk-in customer at their bakery would pay money to buy a loaf of bread like these off the shelf and what better way to get rid of defective loaves than to ship them out of town to trusting customers who weren't expecting anything like that. Selling cracked loaves to us at full price beats having to throw these defective loaves out or having to donate them to charity, at least from Hobbs perspective, we imagine.
In any event, with so much outstanding competition throughout England from amazing bakeries who actually care about their customers and who care about repeat business and making customers happy, if you want to order delicious bread to be delivered to your home, go online and check out the numerous wonderful choices you have to choose from out there.
On a positive note, the reason why we gave Hobbs two stars and not one star is because when you warm up the broken pieces after slicing their defective broken loaves, the bread pieces really are delicious!
