First class service

First class service, from your arrival until you pick your car up. Did more than they needed to without charge. Very impressed with everyone there. And will now be my regular garage.

My Westfield SEiW required a Cam belt…

My Westfield SEiW required a Cam belt and water pump change, being a bit of a specialist sports car I wanted to take to a dealership I could trust. I have used them before for my LR Discovery service and have always been impressed. I dealt with Joe from the service department who is very knowledgable and kept me up to date with the problems they were having sourcing the correct parts for this 1998 Westfield. The work did take longer than expected due to this but my car was kept nice and safe in the workshop for the duration. Will continue to use Hoffmanns and would highly recommend.

GREAT DEALERSHIP

I bought a Mercedes SL from Hofmann's just before Christmas. I could not have been more pleased with the way I was treated by Chris Butterworth the sales chap. Price agreed, the car was thoroughly serviced (not just oil and filter). Items not with the car located, (wind deflector and case) bought and sent on. No fuss what ever and great communication. So Impressed I asked them to sell my Jaguar XKR on sale or return. Great advert sold the car in 5 days at a very good price. Monies came through 2 days after sale. A big thanks to the team, particularly Chris who saw it all through. Cheers guys.

Very happy with my experience with…

Very happy with my experience with Hofmanns buying a used Porsche Cayenne for my other half. I dealt with Chris the whole time, who was extremely helpful and accommodating. I had requested apple play, and reversing camera to be added to the car before collection. As well as a couple of marks polished out of the rear 1/4.
Chris surpassed all expectations, delivering on all my requests, and some. They weren’t happy with the apple play signal, caused by the standard head unit. Hofmanns offered to replace the entire head unit at no extra cost. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. I’d 100% use them again.

Open and approachable family Lotus dealer.

I’ve now purchased 2 new Lotus cars from Hofmanns.
An Evora 400, with a part exchange Evora, transaction was very smooth. Dealt with by their sales team.

Then I decided to sell the Evora 400 and buy a new Elise Sport 220. The transaction was again, very smooth, dealt without problems. I sat down with the Sales Manager and said what I wanted to pay and if we could agree, I’d deal there and then. My kind of sale.

Service follow up has always been good as well, nothing oversold, open and honest servicing bays where you can see the work being completed.

I will be buying my next Lotus from Hofmanns when the time comes.

Very happy with Hofmanns

Bought two new Lotus cars from Hofmanns in the last four years. Great communication, very very knowledgeable staff. Any small issues have been sorted very very quickly.
Highly recommended.....
First cars was a Lotus 360 Cup
Second was a 3Eleven 430

Terrible dealer

So, I collected a brand-new orange Lotus Exige registration RX19BXJ on the 10 May 2019 and the cost of the car was over 85k. The problems I was about to endure with this car was apparent from the start. On the day of collection and on the way home the roof and the suspension/exhaust started to squeak, it was unclear which of the 2 it was at this stage, the car also developed other faults down the line. Anyway, the dealer was informed, and I took it into a dealer more local to me (after asking their permission and the request being ignored). Needless to say, it could not be fixed even after 3 attempts. So, given the cost of the car I was not willing to have it messed with anymore, so I advised the supplying dealer that I wanted to reject the car, all of course within the first 30 days as per the sales of goods act. The sales guy Chris Butterworth was apologetic as per the usual speal sales people give you and he tried to encourage me to stay in the car anyway this would not sway me to keep the car, so I said I still wanted the reject the car in an email a few days later. This is where the fun started. So, after a few more days I had an email from Chris Butterworth sales person and Chris Randell the owner telling me after seeking advice they would not be willing to support any rejection as they don’t believe the car warranted a rejection even though the sales of goods act states the car should be free from minor defect, so we went back and forth, and their stance was still the same. Chris Randell advised me he would do all he could to challenge me on the matter. Anyway, long story short I sent the case off to the finance company who legally owned the car and they too said they would not support a rejection based on the information given from Hoffmans so then the case went further and I eventually won after I obtained a RAC report on the vehicle highlighting the issues I was having and the car was rejected as per the sales of good act. All money was returned to me and the car was sent to auction for some other person to have the miss fortune of owning has Hoffmans refused to have the car back. Anyway, the owner of Hoffmans has now threatened to take me to court on a number of occasions because of the way I have dealt with the situation and because the way I have reviewed his business. The car I had was of shocking build quality with fault after fault so if you choose to purchase do this at your own risk. Needless to say, once he reads this review, I will get another threat of court action. This shoddy dealer still refuses to accept the car has been rejected so if anyone wants to see the reports on the car comment below and I can show you the reports and the emails from Chris Randell and his unprofessional response’s.

Prior to this I brought a VXR220 from them which was also faulty. They tried to fix the car time after time only for the problem to still be there. Personally, I think the car sat there either that or the mechanics don't know what they are doing, I think it’s the latter. On the day of collection when they said they repaired it I was driving down the road only to hear the fault again so because it was a Saturday and they don't open on a Sunday the car was left outside all weekend because everyone had gone home. The dealer claims the rattle could not be heard however they had the car back and a refund again was issued, I don't know any dealer that refunds cars that don't have an issue. I might be missing something so if anyone knows please fill me in. Now the dealer is saying they could not hear the rattle however Chris Butterworth test drove the car and confirmed the rattle was still there so that's where it ended, I never had the car back.

My advice to anyone who is considering buying from these people is think twice and be aware as they are not part of any motoring organisations. Anyone wishing to read the rejection report can do so by typing in Financial Ombudsman Decision and typing in DRN-1913472 in the keyword and product box.

Mark bought a VX220 to ourselves which he claims had a rattle which nobody else could hear and we gave him a full refund on the car out of goodwill. Mark then bought a Lotus Exige from ourselves. It had a minor rattle from the exhaust due to a misaligned exhaust clamp which was resolved promptly by his local dealership under warranty. Mark made a claim for rejection which was not accepted by ourselves, Lotus Cars or his finance company. We were not made aware of any further faults with the car and the car has not been rejected to ourselves or Lotus Cars. It has later come to light that Mark has rejected multiple other cars to multiple other dealerships. After the ombudsman case Mark made against his finance company the car was sold at auction and later inspected by a reputable Lotus dealership who have given it a clean bill of health. I would advise anyone considering Marks review to first read his reviews of the many other car dealers he has previously rejected cars from. We have reviewed our own dealings with Mark and all our staff have remained courteous and polite throughout. I would recommend to any car dealerships who are reading this review to shy away from selling any car to Mark.
